Iv come back to gt5 after a while on iracing, messing about with the lower powered formula cars like the star Mazda and skip barber. But I can only find the two formula 1 cars and the formula gt. surely a racing game with 50 versions of the GT-R would have a few single seaters. Is that really it or am I missing some. Any help appreciated. Thanks

The FGT is a legacy from earlier GT games, and the reason why there's only two F1 cars (both Ferrari) is (I assumed) fairly well known and discussed on here... it's basically down to licencing issues.

I know it's not the perfect solution, but I quite often drive the FGT on Sport Medium tyres with a couple of hundred HP chopped off, and 200kg of ballast added. Makes for an awesome drive and about as similar of a performance as you can get compared to lower league Formula cars. Have you tried something similar?

the fun and "realistic" (gt5 realistic potential) way of driving the f1 cars is using comfort softs (not higher), all assists off including abs. That way lap and cornering times are similar + it is not glue tires.

I do that too, it is indeed good fun.

Realistically if I were to drive a real formula 1 car on a real track I could realistically expect to crash and die before completing a single lap, I definitely wouldn't be able to put in lap times close to that of professional F1 drivers who are paid many millions per year for their skills, it just wouldn't be realistic if I could get anywhere near their lap times. IMO :)

I have tried this and it is good fun, but no one ever joins my lobby online. Lapping on my own is no fun.

I understand the licensing issues, but y not have a lower powered car as well as the fgt, disappointing that such a popular form of racing is ignored but 500 cars no one drives are included.

500 cars that are identical as well - there's so many skylines, S2000's and FTO's and 3000GT's to count and they're all pretty much the same as each other.

Miatas and civics can be added to that list!

There also aren't as many s2000's compared to the number of miatas, skylines, fto's, gto's, and 3000gt's.

Theres only 7 FTOs and 17 S2000s...

Thats not including Race trim or Tuners.

That's still 7 too many in the FTO's if you ask me, except for the touring car there is no need for there to be so many duplicates (even if they are different years V-spec this or US EU whatever).
