I don't have a xbox but i think like the PS3 the HDD memory is also used for the firmware, game saves and settings.

If the game says at least 4GB needed it will need 4GB or more.

Seeing as the post above links to a artical that says the install is over 7 gb for the game and a additional 3.3 gb for the car packs i would say you will be running off your disc unless you buy the hard drive.

Imo it is stupid to even make this sytstem without a drive in it! At the very least a 20gb drive should be standard, 4gb is simply not enough for todays games.

Or you can buy a cheap USB 16G thumb drive and that will take care of your needs.

Exactly

Just buy a 16gb USB stick or use an external hard drive (doesnt matter if its 500gb you can still only use/assign 16gb for xbox !)

The install of disk 1 will be optional, so you could just install the 3.3Gb of disk 2, assuming you have cleared out your 4GB Xbox.. and this should work fine..

Or, as t.o. says, you can use up to a 16Gb USB Stick (Must be fast enough, the Xbox checks it), and you can use that for extra storage (can have 2 USB Sticks up to 16Gb each for extra storage)..

Yeah, make use of Microsoft's caving in and allowing us to use 16 gigs on whatever, and I do think it's worthwhile to have the full game installed, if only to not have to hear the disc spinning constantly.

I think you only get 3.5GB once it formats and you need 3.2 for Forza 4 disc 2. I picked up a 120GB hard drive on amazon for less than $40 with shipping. Arrived in 2 days.

120GB Drive

I dont play xbox at all so I have the 4gb version.

If i delete everything and just use it for forza 4, will it work?

I just bought a 4gb from my buddy. I have the limited edition and I put both discs on and have a little extra room left (very little, I think 408 MB). I just fit FORZA 4 on it. Also don't forget about downloadable content.

plus I have stuff from Forza 3 saved on a USB

I just got a 60GB drive for $40 on Amazon.
You can actually buy a 120gb HD from Gamestop for $50.00. In fact I just sold my wifes 120gb hd on Craigslist for $40.00. Its crazy how cheap these things are now. I think I spent about $140.00 on our 120gb hd and now they are only worth $50.00.

Oh typical, I was planning on giving F4 a chance and renting it out for my GF's xbox but hers is only a 4gb

She already has a few game so will I be able to play it? Better buy some more AA batteries too.... :p

Probably not. Could play a better version of F1 though.
