Heard a wild rumour that Turn 10's locked in contract with Microsoft for Xbox 360 is coming to an end soon and that Turn 10 is interested in expanding to PC and PS3. I haven't found any solid info so I was wondering, is this just a rumour?

EDIT:

Sorry wrong forum. No more premium so I can't move it; can a mod do so please?

I hope it's true. I hate the Xbox, but would love Forza.

Turn 10's contract as a wholly owned and founded Microsoft subsidiary is coming to an end?

Shows how much I know about them haha.

MS own the Forza franchise so theres no chance of a "Forza Collection" or separate re-releases coming to PS3. Just like when Bungie split from MS in 2007, MS created a new studio to make Halo. Playground Games will probably inherit Forza after Turn 10 splits.

I didn't know that. Had no interest in them really unless they came over to PS3.

Ha, no. As Toronado said, T10 basically are MS in the same was PD are Sony. They're not an independent developer that MS just took over like Bungie.

Forza on PC would be fine.

I'd ask for nothing more in life.

'Forza' won't come to PS3 because that IP is owned by Microsoft but there is no reason why a future racing game developed by Turn 10 which looks similar could make it onto other consoles. I personally would love this because I want to stick with Playstation but really want something like Forza, sadly all these stories are mostly hot air as Turn 10 are probably very happy with M$'s funding!

Although first party titles bring out the best in each console it would be great if all games were multi-platform.

I think PC is a possibility, but no PS3.

:(

Again, Turn 10 are a game studio created by Microsoft and are a direct subsidiary of Microsoft. They are for all intents and purposes Microsoft employees and are not going to be making anything for any other platform.

Its all rumours but Naughty Dog which is now also a direct subsidiary of Sony have been subject to speculation that they might in the future do an Xbox title with a totally new IP so anything's possible.

Bungie was owned by MS and then split from them to become private, there is nothing to say Turn 10 couldn't do the same although its unlikely. Just because MS own the name Turn 10 is doesnt mean the whole team couldn't leave and form a new studio like Respawn Entertainment.

Forza on PS3 is not going to happen, even if the Turn 10 contract with Microsoft is coming to an end. They will find a way to renew it. At least the last time I checked, Microsoft and Sony are rivals in the gaming world and putting Forza on PS3 is like commiting financial suicide for Microsoft/Turn 10. I don't see GT5 going on the Xbox 360 for a long time, and it would just be plain stupid to put Forza on PS3 too.

Shows how much I know about them haha.

The way I see it there are only two explainations to this;

-You are a stalker - You spy on Turn 10 and Microsoft all day long without a care in the world and you decide to expose their "secrets" here on GTP.

- You work for Turn 10 - This is even less likely because if you worked at Turn 10 then you would automatically know that putting Forza on PS3 is an idiotic move. You don't even need to work for them to see how foolish doing this would be.

If Forza is going to be launched for any other console other than the Xbox, then I only see it happening on the PC for Windows because Microsoft created Windows and they wouldn't be giving their rivals free money.

I was being sarcastic...

I heard a rumor the world will end December 21, 2012...

I also heard Nintendo is buying Microsoft and Sony so there is no next-gen consoles.

Also, President Obama wasn't born in the US.

Seems legit.

Bungie started out as an independent, were taken under MS for a few years and then went independent again. Naughty Dog has been a subsidiary of Sony since 2001 and won't be doing any Xbox games for as long as they remain that way despite whatever rumours you may have read.

Turn 10 are different from both of those in that they didn't start out as an independent, they were created by Microsoft internally for the purpose of creating Forza games, they're based in Redmond and are all employees of MS and always have been. Yes technically all of their employees could leave and create a new game studio themselves but it's really about as likely as Kaz and the rest of PD leaving and reforming their own company. Not going to happen.

Expect Forza on PS3 about the same time we see the 360 version of GT5.

I still wouldn't buy it.

Really?

I can't be alone in thinking the more good racing sim-like games available, the better 👍. While it'd never happen, the idea of having the big names like FM or GT cross-platform erases one of the barriers a lot of people have with either title right now; the cost of entry in the form of a new system.

Just saying if this is true (which in reality isn't and can't be) then...
December 21st 2012 is really the end of the world.

Anyway. Yeah don't believe these so called "leaks" anymore. There used to be good reliable places where leaks such as this take place and we're accurate. But it isn't like that anymore.

The Bungie developers split with Microsoft, and they're making Destiny (sci-fi FPS iirc). It's possible that T10 might make a multiplat sim-racer, but it won't be called Forza, since the name itself is owned by MS.

Kotaku is the only good place I know of anymore that is pretty reliable.
