I think gran turismo will never get Porsche nor Ruf for that matter.

My theory: Gran turismo 3 had a secret Porsche ingame. I guess Porsche was so pissed off, second because off the lack of a license agreement. Who knows maybe i'm wrong.

GT already includes Ruf and the fact GT3 included a secret Porsche which became public knowledge might not have been appreciated by Porsche but a company like Porsche can't afford to be somehow collectively pissed off if it makes sense businesswise to strike a deal with PD.

If anything, the exclusive EA deal suggests to me they at the time weren't even very interested in the marketing possibilities or potential of videogames and just delegated this whole aspect at a price to EA.
Whether that's changed now remains to be seen (the whole company has since gone through drastic changes) yet the EA deal still stands for now.

I don't see why this topic was needed.
It'll just in in some kind of war anyway.

Because its a logical discussion point, if EA are releasing sub-licences again then will PD go after one.

Scaff

I've been reading/scanning these Porsche threads and i've never seen anyone acknowledge that Gt has been using Porsches likeness (RUF) without paying them (Porsche) a single cent/yen.
Licensing is huge business in both money and reputation, and no matter the legal aspect, surely Porsche will never allow there cars in the GT series without some sort of restitution. As grateful to PD for the best racing game as i am, i think they're in the wrong.
Sorry if someone has brought this up, i've just never seen it.

RUF exist in real-life and are a completely independent manufacturer, the only thing that their cars share with their Porsche counterparts are their chassis and some parts. PD are using RUF's likeness, not Porsche's.

Indeed, Ruf isn't made up by PD , if Ruf are allowed to use Porsche bodies and chassis as a base for cars they can put their own brand logo on in real life (as they are an official car manufacturer according to German law, just like Alpina), they are also allowed to give other companies their own license, Porsche has nothing to say about this matter.

Assuming the XBox 720 and the PS4 are very, very similar, I will most likely be purchasing the XBox and Forza 5 instead of the PS4 and GT6.
+1
I've had enough of the GT franchise. I never thought I'd say it but the whole thing just puts me to sleep.

Meh, every game has its issues. But I'm not giving Microsoft anything. 10 years of crap OS's ruined Microsoft for me.

It's seems like Turn 10 planned this from the get go.

Hey guys no Porsche.

Ah that sucks.

LOL just kidding, pony up $20 though.

Still not bad though.

I'm sure this point has been reiterated several times in this thread, but it would be nigh on impossible for PD to release a Porsche DLC even within the year, because I doubt they actually have any Porsches modeled, whereas Turn 10 has, what was it, 27 (EDIT: 30, seven of them new to the franchise :dopey:) of them modeled for Forza 4 before EA decided to pull the plug on the deal? Plus, PD has been chasing a Porsche licence for years, so I doubt the situation is different now just because Turn 10 has coaxed/paid some money to EA to include Porsches in the game. And GT5 must be, whisper it, fast approaching its development cut-off point -- PD has to divert all of its resources to its new game some time in the near future. If there's any chance we'd see Porsches in Gran Turismo, odds are, it's GT6.

I'm not really a fan of Porsche (Always seeing it around my area), but I can understand why some people are so frustrated about this. I'm a huge fan of Ferrari (The F40 and F50), but when I found out that there's none in GT3 and GT4, it was real a bummer. IMO Forza game already beats GT when it comes to collection of new cars, but I'll probably stick to GT even with the lack of Porsche or any new high end cars. As long as GT5 keeps some of my favorite cars, (Evo, S2000, Z's, M3, and other Merc and VW) and tracks (Nurburgring, Seca, La Sarthe, and now SPA), I'm happy with it. I'm actually happy if GT5 only had 20 cars with Iracing physics. Well, expect me to play GT5 for as long as GT6 is in develop. :)
