So about the game, I'm already 40 hours in and I'm loving it. There is really no need to tune your car in single-player though si CE the opponents drive similar cars right? Played the first couple of hours with the same car but it's probably more fun to switch?

Also, I got 22 gift cars when I started lol. How come?

Bots always have similar Performance Index to your. Fine-tuning of car is must for higher difficulties, stock cars, mostly, can't keep up with cheating bots

I always use Highly Skilled difficulty (5/8 I believe), since that is the fixed difficulty of seasonal race series. I have no trouble winning any race in any car left stock against Highly Skilled opponents, but I need to actually pay attention. The AI matches your PI very well.

Personally I only tune cars for 2 reasons:
  1. I want to complete a seasonal PR stunt or weekly seasonal challenge and it requires a specific car to be tuned.
  2. In order to run the Trial (max PI is essential since the AI will be max PI)
Every other car in my garage is left completely stock, since that way they all drive differently. Tuning all cars up to the top of specific classes reduces their uniqueness.

The game has the ability for players to gift cars to other players that they don't want or need. Congratulations on getting 22 in one go though bud.

You will be ok at the lower levels with stock tunes but as you progress you will need to learn to tune.

There are loads of good tuning videos on YouTube. I watch the following for content and tunes:

Dubs
Don Joewon Song
Hoki Hoshi

Have fun tuning bud.

I’ve got into the habit of gifting almost anything I’ve won as of when our new PS5 brethren joined the Horizon Festival.

All sent to Newcomers as well so there’s a non zero chance that some of my gifts are already found new homes, courtesy of just another anonymous Horizon Superstar. ;)

Come on... Why can't we just move on about this small problem? It's been two days talking about this mtx, wheelspins as gacha scam and so on
It's best for everyone to just bypass such a 'discussion' as it's unnecessary... All I will say is, you don't buy anything with real money aside from the cars in the autoshow via that voucher thing (IF, you feel you need to purchase certain cars). But why even do that when it's so easy to make money in this game by simply just playing it and leveling up? Plus, you earn wheelspins through leveling up, purchasing them in the Forzathon shop via Forzathon points, which can be obtained through either completing challenges, Forzathon Live events, sometimes treasure hunts etc. Never in my three and in half years of playing this game have I ever purchased any wheelspin through MTX, so I don't know where Cloud got this "gacha scam" idea from. Hell, I have 400+ wheelspins and 400+ Super wheelspins, and that was just by leveling up and buying them in the Forzathon Shop (via Forzathon points btw, which is a at 22000+, not trying to flex I promise.) :P

And on that note, whenever I play the game I might start gifting hard to find cars to all those new PS5 players as well. It'd be a good gester after all. :D

Gosh. Try to read conversation and you will get that I was talking about two different topics - gatcha mechanic of wheelspins and not directly related to that mtx. I never accused PG in using gatcha mechanics to monetize game, which doesn't excuse usage of it as core of progression.

Mtx in case of FH5 just feels scummy to me as it was added years after game was sold to millions and on top of basic 60$ game and plethora of DLCs.

Gosh. Try to read conversation
I'm aware what this "conversation" is about Cloud, so take it easy.

That's fine. But again, I have no idea where you're getting that wheelspins feel like a "gacha mechanic".

Other than the Car Voucher which you do pay real money for cars in the autoshow, there is really no other mtx in the game for you to worry about. Just play the game and it won't feel as "scummy" as you think it is.

I have ALWAYS gifted ALL of my duplicate cars in FH5 since day 1.

Low value duplicates went to new players and better cars went to new players who got to the leaderboard (brain fart - i forget what that's called  ) as I figured that was a way to reward them for progressing.

I think I have about half a dozen duplicates kept for cash in case I ever needed it. Which I haven't. But that's probably why I'm only on 52m credits in the bank and not 999,999,999...

You definitely not.

Simple fact, that game going p2w MTX way AFTER I BOUGHT IT WITHOUT THIS is enough for me to be annoyed. Not sure why you desperately trying to convince me its OK.

This is the same guy who told me “because of fans like me is why Forza is going downhill”, so I suggest not even studying him. We don’t need all this drama over a 3+ year old game because somebody seen it became successful on PlayStation…
At least on this thread people who have actually played FH5 at length can give his wacko theory the short shrift it deserves rather than on the PlayStation thread where it might mislead noobies into thinking the game somehow depends on microtransactions.

Ability to buy 99% of cars without spending any time is rulebook definition of pay2win.
Except for the fact that the people that CHOOSE to buy car vouchers have no advantage of those folks that play the game and earn the cars.

You cannot purchase wheelspins or playlist cars with real money; therefore, there is no pay 2 win here.

You've proved nothing and so far no one here has agreed with you.

See fam, I agree that MTX shouldn't be in this game. But I'm also fine with them because they are virtually worthless. They only apply to Autoshow cars, which btw, can be bought for CHEAPER than Autoshow prizes in the auction house. FOR CREDITS - You know - the thing this game bombards you with constantly. A lot of the (more expensive) Autoshow cars are also just festival playlist rewards, or are on the Forzathon shop or even as given out for completing accolades.
Car Vouchers just feel like they were added to tick off a checkbox (presumably by Microsoft). They don't even apply to the FOMO cars (which I initially thought they would).

Since my viewpoint is now out of they way, i disagree with you calling it P2W, completely. There is nothing locked behind car Vouchers, that isn't accessible with credits or just completing races. There is nothing to "win" by "paying". Plus they nuked their own ranked races, so this isn't competitive in the slightest. That's why your point holds very little water.

Kinda, but would it be that way in Horizon 6?
So the roulette stuff from GT7 is also MXT?
There wasn't way to buy them with MTX. I have no idea, why there was so much controversy about them and no one care about absolutely the same mechanic in Horizon.
You must have your head in the clouds if you think that Forza Horizon 5 is a gacha game...
Here we go again?

The only way to buy wheelspins in FH5 is by actually playing the game or earning Forzathon points by doing the playlists or getting achievements, you can't buy wheelspins with physical money. Much like you acquire roulette tickets in GT7 by actually playing the game. Again, your argument holds no weight.
