I just noticed an achievement mentions "Series History Rewards". I wonder if previous playlists could potentially be replayable?
That's exactly what I was thinking. They've been kinda cryptic about Festival Playlist. Even in Ar12's interview from yesterday, they only mentioned how evolving world and Festival Playlist have more opportunities this time around.

They've never had series history be anything other than a basic logbook of your festival playlist progress for every season

Without the FOMO aspect it would be a catalog of activities for players who don't get to play the game that often to do.

So the Evo X gets a couple new swaps compared to FH5, while the 1.6 Turbo Rally and the 6.2 V8 are returnees(though the 6.2 has been upgraded so technically new too. :sly: ), they’re joined by 3 new engines for the Evo X.

The RB26 Inline 6, a very spicy 2.2T I4(roughly 950hp if my quick Google-fu on KW to Hp is correct :embarrassed:) and the 2.0 Turbo Rally Flat 4.

That last one will go perfectly with a WRX rally livery for extra cursed points. :mischievous:

Preordered and cant wait for May to come, however,I`ve said it previously but the sensation of speed doesnt feel right.Hes driving at 135kmh,which is 80 ish mph,but it doesnt fell like 80,more like 50/60mph.I know it feel faster in bumper cam but FH5 felt faster in rear view camera compared to FH6.
Im comparing the speed to GT7,which is a totally different game I know, but speed is speed.Maybe its because its capped at 30fps,would that make a difference to the visual aspect of speed? This and the lack of info about the auction house are my only real concerns. Some of my favourite cars are missing but im sure everybody has a few cars they want but are missing in game.👍

Thing is, I'm not really sure what some people expected from FH6. The map is bigger, it has a very Japanese vibe to it with a radio station in Japanese. Many historic landmarks with new race types like touge racing along with fan favourites like kei cars, time attack machines and new additions like the GR GT, Ferrari F80 and other lovely Japanese oddballs.
What more can PG realistically do?.
🤷‍♂️

I genuinely don't know what these 'critics' expected. The formula is pretty much set in stone. It works and is obviously liked by many.
The only thing I believe PG can really improve is not only the setting/map but the scope of said map, which they seem to have done this time around.

Some people just hate positivity

I think the issue is franchise fatigue. Look at GT7 forums or any other long running franchise. The issue is this game is designed to appeal to a broad range of people. It is genuinely hard to please everybody. Me being new to the series I don't look at it the same way I look at GT so I am not I don't look at features that have been present since the series started the same way as someone who has played for awhile. I look at it like this Playground Games has an issue they have to overcome. Do they just tweak a successful formula or do they do something entirely different? TBH in a racing game it is hard to do something that hasn't been done before. Then you have factor in the fact that they are reaching a very broad audience that is looking for different things in the next game. No matter what they do there will people who don't like it. I was on Reddit and someone was saying they hope the end of the races is better than FH5. They preferred how the races ended in 4 better, one commenter said they hated the race endings in 4 and preferred 5 race endings. So how do you navigate around stuff like that?

A lot of the game’s features were locked off in the preview build so we know nothing new about them.

Personally I hope Auction House doesn’t return and that if there’s time-limited cars there’s another way to earn them.

One good idea I’ve seen suggested is that after their event expires they get added to the pool of Used/Aftermarket cars that can randomly show up in the world. It would give you that feeling of “oh wait, that’s a rare car!” when you drive by a For Sale sign and spot one.

Related: I hope we can remove Barn Finds from our garage in this game. I didn’t like that in previous titles as it meant I was stuck with some cars I’d never use.
I get that auction house isnt everybodys cup of tea,its just something thats always been in FH.Doesnt mean it should be in FH6 but its another way for me to spend an hour doing something outside of events etc.
Thats a pretty good suggestion about event cars showing up at random around the map, maybe time cycled like the legends dealership in GT7? Who knows. 👍

I wish they gave you the option to sell cars back to the game at half price like the wheelspins started doing, but with any car at any time. I guess this'd undermine the bots and scalpers who snap up unicorns on the Auction House before anyone else has a chance. But I think a whole lot more people would be happier, especially if MS lets Torbs-senpai relent on FOMO and put playlist cars into the aftermarket.

Used to be like that back in the day with Forzas. I miss it too, I can never be bothered with the AH. I just want it out and half money for it or even a percentage was always fine by me.

As everyone has different opinions with some having the same opinion there is no such thing as a perfect game. And that is fine I think Forza Horizon 6 will still be great and I was right for it being a AAA outlier.

I would like that, I got very annoyed getting autoshow cars from Playlist challenges, and it just clutters my inventory because I don't use duplicates much.

Also, I really wish they would put some of the Playlist cars in the forzathon shop like they did in Horizon 4. I barely touched the shop until they added the backstage pass in 5.

I may have good news for you

The Festival Playlist may have its FOMO aspect removed. At least thats what others are thinking.

Skip a few minutes in to the interview, Nick’s a lot calmer there than when he uses his presenter persona ;)

Some notes on Spec Racing that I scribbled for my Discord:

So “Spec” in Spec Racing is a specific car/tune for each race. Hopefully you can bring in your own car in order to have your livery before the game applies the spec tune.

What I’d like to know is how many spec cars there are, how often they rotate etc. Is it one car per hour, per day, per race etc. and can you vote on what car to race next.

This is different to Motorsport where “spec” can be either a locked build (open tune) or a set of build rules with a division of cars.

There’s a Series Leaderboard that resets with every series, but lists how many wins somebody has in Spec Racing.

Some speculation on my part:
I would assume there’s basically 3 kinds of multiplayer racing:

  • Spec Racing
  • Open Class Racing
  • Convoy Racing (ie: custom events/races like we used to do in FH5)

We can get some CRM action out of this for sure.

I’ll have to look into some things at launch like how fuel/tyre/damage works and if it’s worth setting up custom races with any of that or not. Even though we’re largely moving away from Motorsport I do like that strategic aspect from time to time.

I'm betting it'll be similar to the Main Stage Legacy feature from Motorfest.
I am thinking it will allow you to play past Festival Playlists at anytime and it will work and look the same as now just that it doesnt say EXPIRED anymore. Like a catalog of every past monthly and weekly thing. The Festival Playlist already is a catalog and you can look at past Playlists you just cant do them.

Can you give us a timestamp?

Just kidding but oh god, I don't want to watch this but it's Torben.

[EDIT] Interview starts at 1'46" :)

I'm glad T-Bone looks a lot more relaxed and less nervous than the IGN interviews. Playground must be pumping him full of horse tranquilisers and heavily restricting his social media feed.

Don's resolution has been raised slightly. I think he's on around LOD2 now.

In Motorfest, they take a few events from past Summits and lump them into a Playlist. Completing them all will give you the Main Stage rewards from that time. Horizon might do the same.

I wouldnt mind if its the full Playlist rather than just a portion of it. Lets people who dont get to play the game that often unlock the 100% the Festival Playlist achievement.
