Do you have a screenshot of the TE37 rim you reported in the video? I tried scrubbing through it and haven’t found it. I recognize some new Advan and ADV.1 rims though. Thanks.
I think it was there, somewhere in the video, though I'll have to crosscheck the video multiple times.

With these changes, the team has confirmed that full livery support from Forza Horizon 5 is not supported. However, Playground is actively testing solutions to allow players to import their livery vinyls, and can confirm that this feature will ship when Forza Horizon 6 launches.
🤔

This isn’t entirely clear.

I think it says that

  • you can’t import full designs
  • but you can import vinyl groups,
  • but they’re not done working on it yet
  • but it will be in at launch…

Hadn't had the time to give the article a more thorough read but I really wasn't expecting that. Worries me they don't mention FM8 though...seeing as I've made a few vinyls on that game.

I have to say, the Garage customization looked really great. I loved what they showed off in the video today - the freedom of car and character placement, the sharing features, the props, the freedom to walk around - all looked awesome. PG looks like they've outdone themselves on this feature.

From this pic, it does only look like 3 cars are able to be placed at one time - which is a bit of a shame. But still, a huge improvement over FH5 and I can't wait to see what people come up with.

What was disappointing IMO was the Car Customization improvements.

The new Forza aero does look a lot better than FH5's, I'll give them that - and it being paintable is a nice plus too. Window Stickers are also an excellent addition, along with being able to select different rims front to back.

But not having multiple Spoiler or Splitter options, no option to remove the tow hook or canards, no side or rear Aero was a let down IMO. It feels like the absolute bare minimum change they could have done, whilst advertising it as a new feature.

Spending a large portion of the video on Forza Edition cars (which don't get wrong, look cool) which we won't be able to visually customize (outside of paint) seemed a bit of an oversight IMO. Like we want to be able to create those cars ourselves!

I was hoping FH6 might catch up a little bit to The Crew Motorfest in terms of customization, another game with a large car roster, but does a much better job of having a variety of aero and features per car. But it's looking like TCM still has Forza very well beaten on this area.

And for a game set in Japan - I though PG might take customization more seriously like its Ubisoft counterpart - but it really doesn't seem that way.

Judging by the comments on social media as well, the reaction isn't great and I think a lot of people share this sentiment. Hoping that PG can improve visual customization overtime in FH6, but I'm doubtful.

Maybe it's because I remember when the new hotness was Hard Drivin' but I'm having a very difficult time being skeptical about this. A whole lot of "finally" material as well as stuff I didn't even know I wanted (paintable tow hooks?). I don't know about you folks but this is shaping up to be the Horizon I've always wanted. All I need now is AW11 confirmation. (PLEASE tell me there's going to be more than 11 Toyotas in this game - how could there not be?)

EDIT: and I posted that five minutes into the video before it even got to the improvements in the paint shop UI. When I have reasons to start getting excited about more convenient menu navigation the same way I get amped about customization, I anticipate good things.

The only complaints I really have are no underglow but really I didn't expect to get that. Also I would love for them to further clarify what they meant by the livery porting situation so I can know if my FM8 assets are stuck on that game forever.

The customizable garage... Me thinks it's a FM feature that was hinted in the very early game teaser and that was cut in development.
Early access testing of FM had fully 1st person, walkable and interactive garage, such a shame it got dropped. But also delighted it's resurfaced here properly.

I wonder if livery importing is blocked simply because of the way they'll handle the paintable windows, or if perhaps they've reworked the materials selection (and we already know, in that regard, that the old "metallic" paint is gone, replaced by a low flake, high flake and glitter options), or adjusted the UV mapping of a large enough number of cars.
It's not really that big of a deal: we can always "save" liveries as vinyl groups, and then reapply them to any car when Horizon 6 launched... Which was a contingency previously discussed in the CRM Discord anyways.

More worrying is the fact that the vinyl import itself is still a WIP. I'm not sure how much I trust them to ship the feature on day 1 - then again, I doubt they're about to tell painters "nah, we couldn't really be arsed to finish it in the end, start all over again with those vinyl groups".

About to soak in the bath and watch the IGN video and then the main racing content creators talk about it.

Sounds pretty great from the bits I've seen posted in here.

Something tells me they went in and redid the UV mapping for each car, since you might as well do that while you're redoing them to add window decal capabilities, right? Good riddance too, as a lot of cars had messed up UVs. "0.0" wasn't true center for most vehicles, and mirroring from one side to the other seemingly always puts the decals slightly in the wrong place. Hopefully they've fixed those things.

I am still excited for the game, but I feel that the customisation can still be a bit better than what they have shown.

For the front bumper customisation, I wish that the Forza Aero for the canards, tow hook and splitter can be split into separate custom parts, so that you can have the car with the splitter without the canards and tow hook (for example). For the rear customisation, I wish that the Forza Aero rear spoiler have more custom end plate options. This is where Gran Turismo 7 has done better on.

It's nice to see new paint options and that the tow hook and end plates can be painted, but still.

I also kind of wish the custom parts on the Forza Edition cars aren't exclusive to them. It would be cool to customise the normal cars with those parts.
