I had to invest way too much money in that GR86 for the Playlist festival for a $25k payout.
Same here. At least I got 250k back from one of the wheelspins today.

1. Other people suck.
2. Other people who don't know it's a team race, and not about who wins, suck even more.
I often picked the slowest car possible in trials, so one of the AI cars would be just as slow, and I didn't need to deal with other teammates.

I finally joined the 4% and got in the legend club.

The track on legend island is so good

Can't wait for the PS5 guys to get their hands on this game. Would be awesome if it could go to Switch 2 at some point too. Honestly with the way it performs on lower end hardware, I don't see why it wouldn't.

Edit- I was able to get all the roads without missing any... bow to my greatness.

I heard that the showcase events are impossible to lose, so I put the theory to the test last night with the mech race. The results were rather hilarious:lol: I set off several seconds later than I was supposed to, so the voice lines triggered without the mech in sight. It does reveal a lot about how the scripted events occur- it's not based on the posiion of the opponent, but your position. The voice lines are therefore NOT attached to the mech, which I honestly find hilarious! Hearing the "splashdown" line without seeing the mech in the water is diabolical. You know what else is diabolical? Crawling across the finish line at 6KM/H whilst the mech is down on it's knees and reaching for the line. You literally cannot lose. Not sure how I feel about that but it sure is funny.

In trials seeing how useless most of my "teammates" were, I ended up trying to hold up the AI drivatars behind me.

Doing that I didn't have to repeat the trial over and over.

I sacrificed myself like Alonso so Ocon could win.

Defend like a lion.

They don't know that there's no "I" in team. I remember I was close to overtaking a teammate back in FH5, and he just went all in like a rolling roadblock on me, and I cursed at him through the mic.

Well, I played a bit this morning and I'm playing more now. I didn't expect the Horizon playlist to immediately offer hypercars as prizes, but I won't complain. It'll make some of the speed traps and speed zones easier to get. Although the Ultima I just bought last night has already been making progress with those.

I found the rest of the treasure cars, with a bit of help as I spent so much time trying to find the Ford GT for instance and got impatient.

For me, the length of the Festival Playlist is "just right" for now, but it will only get longer and more frustrating with the addition of the Trial for the next series, as well as activities from expansions.

And I have a new strategy: using my Xbox Series X mainly for offline activities, while I use my Windows laptop for the online stuff.

I was doing something similar for FH5.

I honestly hope they don't adjust things so that you need to do the trial to get the prizes, I hate online racing.

I got the big fast 😁

Some short musings after 20+ hrs

  • The world has so many great POI's and Parking spots. I assume they'll utilize these for the temporary car meets in the playlist, still very cool to see so many of these dotted around versus previous games. It definitely makes the world feel more authentic.
  • I love being able to put different rims front to back - pretty much every car I build I do this, even if it's completely unc
  • There are still a few cars missing the wheel spacer option (08 WRX STi, 97 M3 E36) which is a shame :(
  • Barely touched online, but I've really liked what I've played so far from Spec Racing. Exactly the kind of mode Horizon Play needed.
  • Soundtrack is a huge bop. Loving it so far.
  • Big fan of the wheelspin/credit rebalance so far. Not getting showered as much as FH5, but still getting plenty to be able to buy new cars, customize etc.
  • PG, where ma F-Type?

  • Viper
  • Evija
  • DeBerti Tacoma
  • 190E
  • F-450
  • BRZ
  • GT-R

Haven't gotten anything from the Journal yet, trying to get the main stuff done first.
Nice I have the 3 VIP FEs, all 3 Aftermarket FEs all 4 Collection Journal FEs and the S-Cargo and F150 and GT-R FE so thats 13.

I spent all night doing the Nachi Run for the playlist race and getting nowhere. In the end I gave up and turned the difficulty down to Tourist for that race. I'm not proud but at least I got the Huayra and five points. The other events will be a breeze compared to this one. Super Saloons and mountain pass racing don't seem to mix well in this game.
Some original music made for the game is slowy coming out
Here's one I was waiting for:

Hide & Seek pissed me off.

"Here's a Mitsubishi SUV. Blend in with traffic. Oh, and everyone else will be driving Audi R8's, Lamborghini Huracan's and the like. Have fun!"

What kind of mismatched nonsense is this? And the area it placed me in was absolutely horrid for getting away as it was nothing but trees utterly concealing brick walls. After the seventh head-on collision (with a wall that I couldn't see, not another player) I just placed the controller on my desk and got meow'd at for 10 seconds or so.

the idea is to make you hide as NPC car or something like that
althogout i wish they had put more modes than it, specially when game has multiple areas for party games

That makes sense but in the little bit of info I grasped, seekers have a tracker that would start going off the closer they are to you, correct?

And you can do something with 'Y' but I didn't catch what it was because I was too busy wondering how I'm supposed to outrun or evade a friggin' R8.

I've been doing the Festival Playlist and apologies if this has already been mentioned but the seasonal championships are no longer locked to a certain difficulty level as I discovered when I did Throwback Throwdown to obtain the McLaren. It has to be the case because I was on the lowest difficulty going into the championship and I won easily. My dirt racing skills are pretty woeful too so a good thing this is so.

So I was sitting in my new McLaren Sabre on some random road without any idea where I was and I hit a door chime so I looked left and I was sitting outside a convenience store. I like that. Good immersion. I've only been able to play less then 10hrs since release date but I'm loving this so far. Caved in and brought the premium upgrade.

I finished the Weekly Playlist, but just barely. My controller has been disconnecting all night, getting worse as the evening progressed. Looks like I’ll have to pick up a new one tomorrow.

Hide and Seek is my least favorite game in Horizon. I don’t hate it. It just bores me. If I’m the hunted, I drive around aimlessly until they get me. “Oh no. You got me. Oh well.” And if I’m a hunter, I drive around behind the pack waiting for it to be over. “I’m helping!”

I got the Honda e as an aftermarket car. Love the body kit. It’s freakishly quiet. I mean, I drive an electric car, and even I think it’s unnaturally quiet. I managed to get a bit of photography in before my controller completely died. I call this “Edamane on Edamame Violence.”

Awfully sorry for not posting the last few days, been busy taking new photos for cars once finding I can change them out after getting the initial photo to boost my "Promo" ranking.

For those of you who complain about people not knowing what to do, I guess you guys have played all FH ? I'm back from 3 and for some game mode it's far from clear on what you have to do when you sign up and there's no explanation either on the loading screen or anything.

So I was super surprise to see how elimination works for example, I wasnt expecting things like that at all. I was expecting a normal elimination race on a track or a road and the last one at the ticking time was eliminated like it's done in dirt, but not at all, it's completely different and it takes time to figure out.

Couple that with some people having the game for 3 days, I think it's normal some people dont really know what to do in those events. Especially since it's the first set of "mandatory" events so people might have never try MP before that (like I did). Cat and mouse was also like that, sure we all know what cat and mouse here but before you are thrown into it there's nothing, no explanation nothing, even the first even you do. So you gotta figure out things on the go, how ping works, etc.. What kind of car you are looking for, etc..
