The game just isn't that long it seems. I haven't played it a ton, yet I'm at a gold wristband and stamp. I don't see any new races available either, so it's just kind of wait until the seasons change. I feel like in past Horizon's I would be at the top rank or whatever it was and there still were a bunch of races to do. The races also don't seem as varied either, just a bunch of rally car events. I miss the old Horizons where you could more or less use whatever as long as it fit the performance spec.

I know a lot of people like this Horizon, but for me, it feels kind of eh. I liked Australia and the UK way better.
Some Event Co-Lab races are actually pretty good. I finally found out that to find them I needed to go to the Creative tab on pause.

Anyone else think ‘Legend Island’ was a little underwhelming?

The environment isn’t particularly different from anywhere else on the map, and doesn’t really have any points of interest that scream ‘end game reward’. A modern style circuit is a cool idea when the others in the game are all of the grassroots style, but the layout of it is sorta just fine? And yeah there’s another festival outpost, but it’s just the same as the main festival but much smaller and not particularly unique. Outside of the track, the roads we have on it are again no different to the rest of the map, they’re a bit plain.

A nice winding road maybe leading to a lookout at a peak that overseas the rest of the map could’ve been nice, dress it up a bit to give it a sense of achievement and exclusivity. There’s a couple of a resort looking buildings around the track, they could’ve been enhanced a little further to give the place a modern luxurious feel that’s unique from the rest of the map. Maybe a harbour/marina with some super yachts, or an ancient castle complex maybe?

No car meet spot is quite surprising also. We’ve seen how empty they can be sometimes, but I think one on Legends Island could’ve had potential to have a bit more of a crowd, if there was more of a reason to go there.
A little underwhelming is a understatement. You need the gold wristy for a stretch of island that doesn't feel any larger or varied than a decent stretch of an offroad path. The principle itself is promising though, however, I doubt future games will effectively have a main island and then a smaller, yet still dense, second, progression-locked island.

I'd love to be proven wrong and served up a healthy bit of crow though.

and the garage / property stuff - which arguably are the 2 big new additions to the formula - are complete flops IMO.
Now this, I respectfully disagree with. The biggest downfall, to me, with the Estate and garages in general is that it feels like a full-featured half-measure, if that makes any sense.

Why stop at just the garages? We're already discovering/unlocking houses, let us decorate and customize those too. Go full TDU with it. This is something I'll have to sit down and articulate better than I am at the moment, but of the two, the garage and estate are far more promising in my eye.

So having got to Legend Island, I was a bit disappointed in that little area as a whole (as mentioned above) but also that none of the Horizon Rush/Wristband events featured the Shinkansen. It shows up in the prologue, a relatively large amount of track for it in-game and is a world-renowned machine... I can only assume they didn't want it to come off as a repeat of the race against the Flying Scotsman in 4?

Anyway, just finished up all the speed traps and trailblazer routes (the mammoth one from the mountains to Tokyo took a bit of planning), now for the drift and speed zones in addition to filling out my tuned selection for MP events. Overall a very enjoyable return to Horizon after skipping 5. :)

I'm currently at the "make your own fun" stage where I pick cars I haven't driven and redo the race events as Custom Races.
Same here, I have no idea if it was a feature in previous games or not, but I've been enjoying the "custom" races as well. And with the ability to set whatever season, weather and time of day or add/remove traffic it has been good fun. In fact, I've done The Goliath at least 10 times already with different settings and cars.

I, for one, am glad that I can't go full-on House Flipper in Horizon or else I'd never get anything done in my actual life.

I have never seen the rubberbanding being that strong even on Tourist difficulty. The start of the Goliath is nothing but getting rear-ended.

I'm glad the difficulties are going to be reviewed, though. At least I guess they care enough.
It's clear all the cars on track are bound together by invisible lengths of industrial strength knicker elastic.

Surely all they need to do is make the bungees affect b.k. 99 and his rabbiting accomplices at the front of the pack too?

Someone out there keeps churning out these amusing low-effort meme liveries and I'm 100% for it.

I think it's in the Chaser Zero: Mech My Day event but not as an opponent. I dunno, but somehow I doubt it'd go down well from a PR standpoint if your car were allowed to beat it.

If they'd had the train break down at the end like the robot I suspect there'd be hell to pay from our Japanese hosts.

I predict an AUP addendum incoming shortly: "You will not make boring and repetitive posts."
It’s funny to see the multiple responses to a message but not the message itself. If I see 4 or 5 responses in a row either the original message was very smart or very not smart.

The ability to type entire sentences at once is incredibly useful, and a huge QoL improvement. The only downside is the kerning is awful. It’s not really an issue for making wall of text liveries, but when I tried making these Nirvana and Clinton/Gore ‘96 bumper stickers for my South King County Fox-body Mustang (faded paint, wrecking yard replacement door, mismatched wheels, rust spots, era-appropriate bumper stickers), it just didn’t work. I still needed to place the letters individually.

There also isn't a good path to take to race it.

As an "older" player, who's put enough hours into this game to earn the gold wristband - sometimes I just want to grab a favorite car and go for a fast drive. No breaking stuff, jumping, drifting, trying to finish a race without getting punted off the road, etc. So - I've created some long, solo road routes - just to go for a quick drive and see the wonderful scenery in this map!

Give them a try if you want a change of pace! 40-miler: 147 263 999 22-miler: 728 391 196 17-miler: 135 291 219 and a 10-miler: 157 140 398 More to come - stay tuned...

Michael appears to be off-base as usual about Kishioniel/Keiko-san but there is an ingame character based on a real person... Larry Chen in the Moto Auto story. I heard the redditors on r/forzahorizon criticising his line delivery as if he were a regular voice actor the other day so I guess there may be some confusion.
I'm not sure why people were expecting from a guy who isn't a professional voice actor to deliver lines like Troy Baker.

But, it does reveal who actually follows Larry b/c how he talks in the game is how he speaks in his videos & I'll bet dollars to donuts that's intentional.

Well, on my first try in the Eliminator, I placed 6th and got the Lotus Exige, but when I returned to the regular map, performance in my PC tanked horribly (down by 20-30 fps!), so I exited the game.

Phew, in 24:21 minutes I won the Goliath aboard the magnificient Pagani Huayra R, with traction control, racing line (braking only), and max downforce front and rear, in highly skilled difficulty.

I spent all day completing the Horizon Life Events, and all I got were these two really nice FE cars, the Vivio and M2.

I also spent all day listening to Horizon Block Party. KoKo Alexandra as Carla Rose is a very likable DJ. She walks a fine line between enthusiastic and restrained. She’s just a DJ who loves hip hop, car culture, and Tokyo City. The music selection is great, too. I especially liked the Japanese artists in the playlist.

Almost having completed the winter's playlist... I dream of spring.
Not to mention the FD2 Civic Type-R and Starlet Glanza V that will come along with it! Winter's not as bad as it was in FH4, but it definitely dulls the environment... which is what winter does, really.

Care to explain where a tree would go when a season changes ?
Since this is a game they could technically replace them with other trees and from what I have seen online people were talking like these trees are exclusive to the Spring Season.

That's because their blossom is exclusive to certain seasons, but the trees don't go anywhere and why on Earth would the dev's choose to do that when they've tried to be so authentic to Japan with their world building?!
