I find that FH6 does actually have less content than FH5, but that's mostly due to 5's Accolade mechanic giving players a laundry list of stuff to do, inspired by the Festival Playlist--time trials in the open world, performing skills with certain cars, even requiring that you end up in the upper echelons of Rivals leaderboards with every class in the game.

FH6's Collection Journal, meanwhile, is a lot more like FH4--they trimmed out all the fat from progression, but in so doing it feels like there's less to do overall. The loss of open world challenges especially leaves a gaping hole in the progression. But I personally think that's not a huge issue; just a side effect of trying to refocus on the festival after FH5 went more for the 'adventure' side of things.

It also matters which kind of player you are. I've never been huge on multiplayer, much less esports or anything super-competitive or highly social, so a lot of the complaints seem out of my jurisdiction while some things I'd been hoping for were actually improved. One of the most important things FH6 did to improve the gameplay for me was to make custom singleplayer races a lot easier to jump into instead of requiring the creation of dedicated blueprints, and that alone has drastically extended the potential lifespan of the game for me. I haven't been playing it every day, but even as I've picked up a bunch of other racing games to fill my rotation (a couple TXRs; Super Woden Rally Edge; another go at good old GT4) I recognize why FH6 is still in the mix: it's just ridiculously, addictively fun to mess around in because the physics and environment are that appealing.

But I also get the video's point that the community feels left in the lurch: FH5, despite a lot of people hating it now, did benefit from the impression, put out by PG/dev streamers and MS, that there was a lot going on in and around it, and that there would be something at least somewhat fresh around the corner every month. It's kind of hard for me to feel that way about a game I theoretically enjoy a fair amount more when the bulk of the ambient talk around it is somewhere between disillusioned disappointment and entitled cynicism.

Yeah, dev streams just not being a thing anymore is a huge blow. At least you could tell when the devs knew an update wasn't going to go over well when they'd close chat--and, at least, they were able to tease upcoming in-game collaborations and talk about why they were a good fit for FH5. There was a genuine sense of community around Horizon Mexico, really.

I get that Fable is probably a bigger priority for PG right now, and I especially understand that we're in a period where New-to-Forza stuff is regrettably paid for rather than dropped in the Playlist for all to enjoy. But man, not even allowing Seasonal EventLab to be a part of the Playlist is gonna hurt the community long-term.

If one of the last truly enduring big-deal racing series winds up going stagnant because the devs were too distracted by trying to finish a reboot of a half-remembered franchise in a super-oversaturated elves-and-dragons fantasy RPG market, I'm going to crash the nearest D&D gathering and flip the table.

One of the features I miss a lot from FH5 is the option to create custom rulesets.

For example one of the showcased events in a playlist in the past would involve smashing Tanks to get a +1% power and if the players smashed a Cactus Pinata they get a -1% power. I've seen Rally Events featuring a Fuel rule or Drift events with custom score multipliers that would deduct a certain amount of score from colliding into a wall.

Honestly, I blame how they made all that stuff so obtuse to actually develop for why they're not around anymore!

EventLab these days is more like Forge Mode but without custom game parameters. EventLab 2.0 and EventLab Island were basically very openly "we know you don't care for custom rulesets so have a map where you can create custom tracks and terrain to your heart's content"--and now FH6 removed custom rulesets entirely so you're only left with the level design suite.

Probably why Seasonal EventLab hasn't been back--that and the question of 'okay if you can go into EventLab anywhere then how do we drop in new event pings for EventLabs.'

EDIT: Oh, so I finally took the '24 ZL1 out for a spin. It is slightly more than a rear end facelift; for one, it actually uses a dual clutch paddle shifter transmission instead of a stickshift manual, though this doesn't change its shift speed one bit on sequential manual--in fact, it has a slower 0-60 time than the 2017 ZL1 by a full sixth of a second. It also has its multimedia screen on. But I'm pretty sure that's about it; even the engine in the engine bay is the exact same LT4 that all the sixth-gen ZL1s have.

Honestly, if they'd made it accelerate quicker than the stock ZL1, then I could see it having a purpose, but other than that, it plays almost identically to the 2017 ZL1.

The ZL1 auto transmission is a torque converter based transmission, not a dct. Technology has come a long way though.

Glad some people are using it. I collected it but haven't given it a spin yet.

Mystified that this didn't count as the location, but no matter, I liked it as an image.

I very rarely react like I'm doing now, if seldom, but people who are satisfied over the game's poorness and who call people who want it to be fixed as "Greedy" and "Audacious" are a part of the problem and are not to be taken seriously.
I admit that there are some issues with the game, and in no way am I defending them, but people need to ask themselves if it's worth getting mad about. On the whole, Fora Horizon 6 is a very well made game that is far, far away from anything amounting to poor. A few "bad" things shouldn't result in such a backlash when the majority of players simply don't care. Constructive criticism is fine but there's an increasing amount of people who just can't see the good in anything, lauding the game for what it doesn't have as opposed to what it does. There are things that I wish Gran Turismo had but I can't see the point in letting it take the joy out of the parts that I thouroughly enjoy. Maybe that's just me though.

Or, perhaps more accurately, there's an increasing number of people who take the amount of content a game has as the true measure of a live service's worth. As much as we rag on FH5 now, it WAS the most successful Horizon game up to this point, precisely BECAUSE it had so much to do, on top of that sense of community I described. A sequel to that, such as FH6, somehow coming out with less content in its base game is bound to ruffle feathers.

Sure, maybe folks are waiting to see how the Car Pass and Expansion 1 turn out before taking the plunge. But I think 6's biggest bugaboo is a content drought, as minor as that is in the one Horizon game that actually does have something resembling a modern Single Race feature now that we have custom events.

I understand, but for the players who have known the Forza franchise for a very long time (FM4 was my first Forza game prior to playing FH1, FH2, FH3, FM7, FH4, FH5, FM2023, and FH6), it feels as if FH6 has not really innovated that much, as well as several issues that clearly need to be addressed. It's a good game, but some of us want it to be better than just good. Here are the issues I noticed with the game:

  • The Credit (CR) payouts for racing events are too low (and that's because of the developers nerfing the payouts and Skill Chain Multipliers).
  • Joining a race with a different car requires you to create a specific event, which can be a hassle.
  • Implementing recycled cars (that were FREE in previous Forza games) into the PAID Car Pass is kind of a lame decision. The Porsche 961 is an eggregious example. It was added into FM2023 not that long ago for free, and is now in the FH6 Car Pass requiring money.
  • Putting exclusive Festival Playlist cars at 40 PTS requires you to play the online multiplayer events, which is not ideal for console players who don't have those subscriptions.
  • The lack of communication between the developers and the community members / players, especially after the original Forza Forums got shut down and moved to a new website server that is not that intuitive to use.

When this occurs I quit 6, load and quit FH5 and then 6 is fine. The lockup happens every time I restart 6 without doing something else in between. Also on console. It always makes me a bit uncomfortable when deleting save data unless it's a last resort. Good luck!
When it doesn't load into the game, but hangs there. You simply need to Restart the console, not simply shut down and boot back up

Actually, back to the '24 ZL1 real quick--the 2024 ZL1 is being considered as 'New-to-Horizon' rather than New-to-Forza, going by the news post on Steam. This could just be because FM2023 got a very unceremonious end of support, leading to Turn 10 getting gutted while Horizon became the primary Forza series, but it does make me wonder if it would've been part of a FM2023 update first, then added to FH6 later.

If so, that would make Series 4 have exactly one New-to-Forza car in the N600, even though the ZL1 technically is New-to-Forza as well by virtue of it not appearing in any other game up to now. This would depend on if this car was even in FM2023's files, of course, but it's worth mentioning.
