Of course there will be more lol. FH3 had 30+ Horizon Edition cars. So I expect at least 30+ of those 700+ cars to be silly Forza Edition cars. That is next to the dozens of copy/paste racing cars that count as cars as well even though the only difference is the paintjob...
How many REAL different cars are there actually left? 650? 600? 550? Anyone wants to take a guess?

Forza Edition cars did not pad the car count. They weren't even part of dealerships options, and were not purchasable like that. When we get the final car count, than we can get the amount of dupes from the race cars, but still, it'll be a tiny chunk of the actual car list.

Yes, but even those were only a day one pack and not VIP. VIP has historically ALWAYS been exclusive cars. This is just laziness and an insult to those of us loyal enough to purchase VIP.

Actually, thinking back about this now. It looks like the VIP packs and the Pre-order packs may have switched spots. In the past the VIP gave new cars, and the pre-order was the Team Forza cars which consisted of cars already in game. This time around it seems to be that the Pre-order cars are the new cars(Hoonigan pack), and the VIP is the cars already in game.
Wait... Were people happy with cars such as the F12tdf and the Regera becoming part of what was, in essence, a very expensive car pack? I think T10 may be going in the right direction for once. We get the Hoonigan Car Pack as a preorder incentive, and possibly an equally alluring day one car pack as a bonus for Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners. VIPs get essentially the "VIP treatment" in the AH and Rivals mode, plus double payouts from certain events.
However, I do not see how dedicating an entire week of the Forza Garage (and quite an important one, at that) to the announcement of five Forza Edition cars could've made sense to the guys in charge of marketing & PR. I hope they'll have something in store either for later during Gamescom, or for next week's announcements.
I am also resigning myself to the fact that we're not very likely to see anything like a Porsche 908/3 or 935 in the game at launch...
Well as far as I remember the HE cars were never added to the "cars revealed so far" list at the bottom of the garage reveal week posts in FH3 either. If you check out today's reveal post you will see that they are now added to the list which would seem to indicate that they now do count as a car.
Personally I don't like the HE cars, not in FH3 and not in FM7. That is because whatever you do in game, you can always do it more efficient with a HE car since you gain extra credits and/or XP, both in singleplayer and multiplayer. So it basically makes every other car out there less valuable than the HE cars. In a game with so many cars that really is sad.
And putting HE (or should we say FE now) cars in the VIP pack is even more bizarre, one of the things you pay extra for is just getting pre-tuned versions of cars already in the game. I rather see VIP packs as they always were, a car pack exclusive for VIP players. And I would have no problem at all if those cars or that pack would become for sale for non-VIP users a couple of months after release either.
I would guess the final car reveal is racing cars, so this is probably it for the road cars that will be included at launch. There are some dissapointing omissions but the list itself is still very strong overall for a racing game.

It worked just the same as the Team Forza cars. They are introduced as a reveal because they literally revealed the VIP pack. What we do know is that it was never added before, so I can only assume it was only added to keep the list updated. If it is actually a padded count, we'll find out upon release. As it sits, I'm not sure why it would, because these cars were not purchasable in game, whatsoever. However, if it does end up padding the car count, than that is unfortunate.

They're interesting to have, but they aren't giving you a super big advantage over most. I literally never used my HE cars outside of the time that everyone was doing the credit glitch with them. After that they got patched. I mostly sold the ones I didn't like, if I received them. They were essentially quite useless, except when going out to do something extremely specific, like trying to stack up some combos in Horizon. Everything in game has something that is going to be giving you more credits with it, or experience points with it. There was so many options in Horizon, and it didn't detract from the actual game and it also never really gave anyone a massive advantage as all the perks were basically for leveling purposes, and extra credits.

I always try to sell my "Edition" cars, these will be no different, so at least I'll get a bunch of money to start with. On the brightside we've had huge amounts of information this week already and I think there is more to come.
To be honest, having the FE cars right off the bat would help with moving through the career and the "collection tier" system, which they haven't shared details about yet.

What's with the 111/63 figures? The former is if every one of those comes back. The latter is the condensed count. While the Ferrari 512 suggests T10 will still be counting liveries as unique cars, I wonder if Formula E or NASCAR vehicles could be consolidated.
There's also the chance that not every race car returns. Oh yeah, and the Lola T70 from FH3 needs to come, as well as the rumoured Porsche 917. I snuck the Caparo in there, even though it's technically a road car.
Crafting this list, I noticed the SLR is gone again. It never showed up in FH3 either. Problems?
If T10 is now counting Horizon Forza Edition cars as unique, and all of them are coming to the game (not just the ones announced today), chances for genuinely new cars are slim.
I'm self-quoting here, since this was... a surprise, to say the least.

That's a bit disheartening. While I'm all for the idea of purely new cars as DLC, I was still hoping for at least something in the base game.
Even though they've stated 700+, I doubt it will be significantly over that count. Much like the "Hundreds" from Forza 5 literally just turning out to be 200, from the 30+ tracks labeled for FM7 which turned out to just be 32(?)
Well in fairness, it was an aspect of Forza that people would use to bring up a fault against PD. It makes sense that it's getting the same treatment now even if it is at a significantly lower degree.
Complete crap this so called 'VIP' list. Still I'm holding out hope that there will be some new cars to be revealed. Probably a week or two before release. Regardless I'm still getting it for the sheer number of cars and I can't say no to new racing games!
I'm pretty sure Turn 10 knew all along this was going to be the plan. Remember right after the E3 reveal there was no info yet on the VIP car pack, day one pack and pre-order bonus? They cleverly kept that secret knowing people would assume it would be similar to previous games. If they would have said at E3 that the VIP car pack would be 5 FE cars people would probably rather have a good laugh instead of preordering the UE version.
Turn 10, proving to be masters of deception over and over again.
Oh, I think everybody prefers the idea of new cars as DLC. FM6's DLC was pretty fantastic IMO.
But there needs to be balance — and it needs to be considered that not everybody is going to stump up the cash for post-release content. There's almost nothing new in terms of cars/tracks so far over FM6. I get that there's undoubtedly a lot of work put into the dynamic stuff, bringing back the 360-era content, and other things... but cars/tracks are the visible big sellers for games.
Don't get me wrong, for those that will be calling FM7 their first Forza game, the content looks great. But after the debacle that was GT6, and it's questionable status as a true sequel to GT5, this is more than a little worrying. Especially since it's Gamescom — it's actually been quiet across all three of the big titles this week, which is shocking.
I assumed that and I was ready to bet on the "usual suspects": super/hypercars, like the Chiron, 812, Giulia, Performante etc., cars people have been asking for since the moment they were unveiled and that generate lots of interest. Guess they will be saved for DLC, if the next reveals are all about race cars.
VIP pack is pretty weak considering what's been shown in the previous weeks. It's still the most impressive and varied car list this generation and it may just be a bump in the road if the revamped career and online modes can overcome the drawbacks in truly new content.
I've come up with this absurd theory that T10 wanted to showcase all their "greatest hits" to the newly targeted PC crowd in a "see what you've been missing" kind of way, and in turn leaving us older fans of the series feeling a bit perplex.
What want to say this. There may not seem to be a lot of NEW content coming in FM7, but many of us here are hardcore forza Fans that have played most of the Forza games. If you look at it from the viewpoint of someone that only plays Motorsport and ignores Horizon, All the new cars added in FH3 that are being carried over are effectively New to those players. If you look at it from the viewpoint of someone that started playing Forza on XBox One, all the cars and tracks returning from the Xbox360 era games are effectively new to those players. Personally I think there is possibility for the cars being brought back from XBox360 era Forza games to feel new again because it has been nearly 4 years since I played a Forza title on my XBox 360.
To be honest, if T10 really has a five-year plan, like Comrade Greenwalt has told us... Then they'll run out of cars at some point. They could easily fit a lot of interesting cars in the 42 of the season pass, and they'd still have two or three car packs and possibly two EPs to go. And then FH4 will come along, adding at least another 42 road cars. Unless they really start to add Prii and Camries just to pad the car list, they'll eventually have all sorts of contemporary and vintage sports and racecars that they could feasibly included in the game. What then?
I've started a long while ago to see Forza as a ~100€/year subscription service more than anything. That IMHO helps a lot with putting things in the right perspective.
I may be crazy but I would by happy if they just had all the FM4 cars as "standard cars". lol Just imagine the car list if they did that. Maybe even FM2 as standard cars and FM4 as semi-premium. We would have a choice of so many mid 2000s cars. You can laugh at me but it would be dream coming true to me because I always wanted to play X360 era Forza games and never could.
