Forza Motorsport (8) Confirmed Car and Track List

DiRT Rally 2.0 had a good solution to this: If the host of a lobby owns DLC content, anyone can use it.

That plus making DLC tracks freely playable in ranked/esports modes would be a good compromise, if they decide to monetise the track content.
That is indeed a good way to address that issue. Was not familiar with that solution. I would fully support implementation like that as I personally don't mind paying for quality content.

Finally a racing game with cars that are current. I hope this game ***** on GT7. That way PD wakes up and comes out with a banger. I mean if somebody is going to do it, it might as well be Forza.

Good - BTCC Focus (!) along with the TCR cars, C8.R, Senna GTR
Bad - shocking lack of Ferraris, no A110 or Camaro GT4s

Very happy to see Kyalami.

Let's wait until October for a final review of the car list. What was published yesterday is only the initial list and It's definitely not impossible to see cars like the 488 GTE, Alpine A110 GT4 added in the months to come.

Seeing that they scanned the C8.R, a couple of GTD cars like the Acura NSX and Audi R8, as well as some DPi's, I would think it's not unlikely to see more GTLMs and GTD's from similar years.

Hopefully the licensing issue with Abarth/Alfa Romeo/Fiat/Lancia can be finally sorted out by the time the game is released, it's been a year and a half since FH5 was released, and there is still no sight of them coming back so far, including FM 2023 for now (Just Maseratis have been shown, which is worrying)

If I recall correctly, the main licensing limbo in Forza games starting in FM4 has been as follows:

Forza Motorsport 4: Porsche (Brought back via DLC)
Forza Horizon: Porsche (Never brought back)
Forza Motorsport 5: Porsche (Never brought back)
Forza Horizon 2: Porsche (Brought back via DLC)
Forza Motorsport 6: Porsche (Brought back via DLC)
Forza Horizon 3: Volkswagen (Never brought back)
Forza Motorsport 7: Toyota and Lexus (Road Cars) (Never brought back)
Forza Horizon 4: Toyota and Lexus (Road Cars) (Brought back via DLC) and Mitsubishi (Brought back via DLC)
Forza Horizon 5: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia (Not brought back so far)

Porsche as we know has been a mainstrem issue for most not-EA games, but since Forza was able to secure them before since release, and were able to brought them back most of the time, I think it's fair to include them. Other brands such as Tesla are in my mind, but I think it's better to focus on the major brands, especially due to their car amount/importance ratio.

Since they were able to get around 2 major loses on FH4, I think there is still hope to fix the current situation, but only time will tell, and so far, it's taking a while for sure...

I've noticed a lack of any offroad vehicles and sport utility vehicles (SUV) on the initial list.

That's a good thing and i like it. They felt very out of place in FM7 and are better off in Forza Horizon games.
I don't have a problem w/ SUVs just as long as they're track oriented performance SUVs like the URUS, Trackhawk, X5M, etc....they got in trouble w/ me with the stupid Trophy trucks and ATVs last go round...those have no purpose in Motorsport unless there's an unseen offroad/legit rally (not that Horizon version of "rally") series in there.

Looks like T10 have updated there official list as per this link

https://forza.net/news/forza-motorsport-car-list

Notable additions include the two cars revealed on stream today

  • 2020 Automobili Pininfarina Battista
  • 2023 Lotus Emira
Yes! Lotus Emira! I live near the Lotus factory in Norfolk and even though I see them around loads, I don't get bored of looking at them, such a cool car and they look absolutely brilliant at speed.

I've noticed the 2000's decade is very underrepresented

I would say it has been in general in recent Forza games. Many of the significant cars from the aughts were in 360-era Forza and haven't come back.

I'd imagine that it's because they're in "too old to be the hot new thing but too new to reach classic status" territory. Still, with the prices on interesting cars from the 2000s rising every day for good examples, they may finally be reaching "classic" status to an extent.

A good example of that would be the original Lamborghini Murcielago.

I know its early days, but nice to see a good selection of newer and classic dedicated race cars.Hopefully, for me personally, they can add R33 and R34,maybe the Nismo 400r,the list is endless.lol
I see theres no M3 E46 currently but the german rivals screenshot shows,i believe,an E46,as does the LFA which is not in the list.Early days yet, paid for my pre order with my microsoft balance, roll on October.

I dig the return of the Bentley Speed 8 in FM (2023).

The last title this car was featured was FM6, which was released on September 15, 2015.
The Bentley Speed 8 was also one of my favorite LMP's growing up, as it is the only one to have dethroned the Audi R8 LMP when it was in active competition.

I don't know how I missed it until earlier today, but I saw that Mid-Ohio is in Forza Motorsport, and I'm so pleased. I've been trying for probably at least a decade to get it in either Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo. I believe there's old topics floating around here from many years ago that have me pushing for Mid-Ohio. Now I've finally gotten my wish. "Why Mid-Ohio?" Admittedly, it's probably mainly bias on account of me being an Ohioan, but I've wanted a track from Ohio in racing games. Yes, Eldora tends to show up in a broad range of dirt oval racing games, but I wanted a paved circuit from Ohio to make it into a major racing game. Now I finally have it.

Might help that Honda has manufacturing facilities in Ohio, along with the track being a staple on the IMSA (until this year) and IndyCar calendars?

There is an interesting screenshot in "Forza Community Hub Update #2" (an article published at forza.net on Monday):

I'm not entirely sure what track is it... but... could it be that Nordschleife is finally confirmed? ;)

I'll also allow myself to point some small mistakes in the car list from the first post:
  • 1990 Alpine GTA Le Mans is now featured in the official car list (no need for * by its name)
  • 2020 Automobili Pininfarina Battista should be marked as "(NEW)"
  • 2018 Lamborghini #63 Squadra Corse Huracan Super Trofeo EVO as well, but also with *
  • 2023 Lotus Emira is already confirmed to be "NTM" (featured in FH5 first)
  • 1995 Porsche 911 GT2 is not officially confirmed yet
  • 2019 Porsche "#70 956" should read "#70 935" ;)

Finally a racing game with cars that are current. I hope this game ***** on GT7. That way PD wakes up and comes out with a banger. I mean if somebody is going to do it, it might as well be Forza.
I suspect T10 will struggle, though.

  • F1 cars are licensed by Codemasters F1 series. F1 2023 has all the current cars and tracks, obviously.
  • Le Mans cars are being licensed by "Le Mans Ultimate", which will include the full current WEC cars (hypercars, prototypes and GTLM) and tracks (built on rFactor, proper sim).
  • GT3 and GT4 cars are licensed in "Assetto Corsa Competizione", which includes all the GT World Challenge and Intercontinental GT car and track lists (also a proper sim) and has clear links to the SRO which organises these car series worldwide. This includes 13 different GT3 manufacturers and 11 different GT4 manufacturers, and has been updated with brand new 2023 GT3 models such as the new Ferrari 296 GT3.
  • NASCAR is still being licensed and delivered by NASCAR heat series.

So yeah, Forza probably can't negotiate blanket licenses with these major racing series and would have to license each car individually. Which means we will be hard pressed to get full modern fields.

Edit: Not all race series are being licensed. I don't think anyone is currently making a TCR/WTCR game, so that might be an easier one to get for Forza.

As long as it doesnt have 30 miatas, 30 r35 GTR, 30 supras, overloaded with nissans and not enough americans and newer cars from American and European brands. Also, because they are licensed already you are telling us T10 can't get them?

If you look at FM7 then the list of prototypes and GT cars was... limited. They threw together a bunch of cars from different ages and classes into a single division just to have enough variety.

It was unfortunately, especially if you are used to driving something like ACC where you get 45 cars with real liveries and BoP tweaks from the actual race when driving. But we have to be realistic about what Forza or GT can achieve when competing with specific simulations who license the full content for a series.

ACC is literally the partner of GT categories, so it having the latest GT3/4 cars isn't very surprising. I doubt forza motorsport comes close to that.
