Frame-rate now solid

Pretty much the only time I've ever seen the frame-rate drop is while playing in 3D which, unfortunately, it still does.

I never noticed any substantial framerate issues either, London or elsewhere before the new patch. I have seen others talk about having problems though.

BUT, after downloading patch 2.03 I ran into massive issues at the Nordschleife. It dropped down to 20 or lower, to the point you could clearly see each frame skip to the next. I also observed curbs appearing to be shifting back and forth as if somehow stuck between frames, but side-to-side and not in the direction of travel.

This occurred in several successive one make races with 2010 Camaros in interior view with all realism options on. Multiple loads of the track, and completely unrelated to the proximity of the opponents. Was the time/weather version of just the north loop.

I cleaned all of the absolutely nothing off of my disc and haven't noticed further problems anywhere else, but I have not gone back to the Ring yet(which is very odd itself).

Hopefully it was just a one-off.

I did the Indy 500 A-Spec yesterday in the X2010. I noticed that if I was close to the curbs while going thru the corners, the screen seemed to jump to the right. I noticed that if i used the wider racing line it would not be so pronounced. I never saw it before in Indy. I had the x2010 in high speed setup so I was going 270 MPH in 6th gear thru the corners. I was in third person view as well.

Chase cam?

The recent patches actually did not increase hardware utilization to improve framerate performance. Rather, graphical details in GT5's tracks have been drastically reduced.

The image comparisons on their website show that all of the crowds and flags from the London circuit have been deleted--which in turn gives the PS3 less objects to render. While this is one way to improve the game's framerate, it is still a rather disappointing - and possibly unnecessary and cheap - compromise.

With how awful the crowds look anyway, I am fine with them being removed in order to give us better framerates. I will miss the flags though.

I still get lots of screen tearing. I don't think there was any optimization done for the framerate of the game.

Yep the game is improved in pretty much all areas with the updates. This is a good improvement. TBH fps drops here and there is ok as it is very difficult to impossible to notice. Most games run at 30fps with few drops here and there and those are also acceptable.

Game was done in 2010. They can only change settings to improve the graphics, performance now. The graphics have improved as well the lighting is tweaked.

The crowd only shows if you're the only driver in a single player event.

As someone in the comments on the video said, the spectators have been removed from the London track.

That's pretty rubbish. The flags and spectators gave the track some character and believability. I'd take the 7-9fps dip for that. The 50fps was still ample.

The old video has people standing arround the track, the other one is missing those viewers. Maybe thats the reason why the framerate is better.

Well, that's smart of Polyphony to take those assets out. I wonder how the Nurburgring is... When I saw that London video, my jaw dropped and all I could think about was going home and updating. haha. I've only been playing Forza 4 since I got my rSeat setup.

I have drive london today and the crowd was still there, at least in the seasonal events.
I'm pretty sure BayneHamlin1121 is correct. Unless someone can prove, otherwise? A single player event, meaning a race with just you and the AI.

It's too bad that video was done without the spectators, because now it's confusing as to whether or not the frame-rate has changed.

Result = when are 16 cars on the track... the track is without spectators

Agreed. I dislike the people anyways, but yes, the flags were cool. 👍

I just read the post above from play3man, thanks for clearing it up.

try an arcade race with a full grid of GT500 at Monza: the first chicane is terrible for framerate.

Close, but not close enough :) When there are 13 or more cars on track (or you set online room for 13 or over) visitors at London dissapear. Same is with Eiger Short with static weather.
