Does any one know of any free programes that will record video from internet, hopefully any free ones? Also any software that can search the net for free movies etc.

Thanks

Record from the internet? :odd: Do you mean, play videos you've downloaded from the internet? There's Winamp (2.9 or above), Quicktime, Real, Windows Media Player and the list goes on...

You can search for videos with almost any P2P program (Kazaa, iMesh, WinMX, etc).

Ummm.......this thread is really REALLY old! But, oddly enough, I HAVE THE SAME QUESTION!.......See I did a search, you can't shout at me now! :)

Is there anyway of saving streaming video from the net, a free and tested way would be good! (I'm scared of some freeware!). See there is this great music video that I cannot get from anywhere else apart from a music video website...I have the direct link.....is it torrentable? If so, are there any good torrents.....

Ive included the link for the vid below.....OK! mabye is not everyones favorite! but if you could help me I would be really really greatful!

A word of warning...

A couple of people mentioned Kazaa. Don't download and install Kazaa. It is guarantee to **** with your PC. It dumped so much spyware and adware that the Internet became unusable. And the ****ing thing didn't even come with an uninstall program. I had to find a 3rd party uninstaller to get rid of it.

WinMX and Gnucleus have been good to me. I also have BearShare. I know it comes with built in adware but it hasn't caused me any grief so far. My Internet is working fine and my PC is running smoothly.

Actually, I lie. WindowsXP has died on me and I have to resintall it. Which reminds me, I must start a new thread asking for advice about it.

KaZaA is very unsafe. Even KaZaA Lite is a bit wary. What Third-Party uninstaller did you use, KM? I think I still have crap on here from a couple of years ago. :grumpy:

Lavasoft's Adaware will clean up all of that junk and some. Keep it updated and your set. 👍

I can't remember what uninstaller I used. It was a good while ago. I did a Google search and found something that seemed reliable and it did the job.

Yeah, KaZaA is loaded with so much spyware it isn't funny. LimeWire hasn't failed me. Oh, and the uninstall thing, you still should have been able to go through Add/Remove Programs to remove it there, then if you're good with the registry, go through there and clean up what it left. If not, use the EasyCleaner registry cleaner to get the rest of what the uninstaller left.

KM, also make sure to remove all the spyware and other STDs that KaZaA left on your computer. I'm pretty sure you've probably already done this, just making sure though :).

Net Transport sounds really interesting!

If you have the URL for a file, then I can highly recommend FreshDevice's "Fresh Download". It doesn't do streams, but for files, it's small, uses 8 channels and can restart huge files (so that you can use your phone or get some sleep at night) and it's free with no adware.

Thanks for the other tips, too.
