Free Roam

I read in a thread somewhere that pd were planning to release a free roam feature. If they could create vast cityscapes for us to explore/drift around I think the game would be almost complete. After all it is supposed to be the real driving simulator and what's more real than that?

Or obeying speed limits.

Stopping at stop signs.

Boy, that WOULD be exciting. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to drive to work during rush hour!

If this is incorporated (remember there being mention of this) I really hope it's more for driving and taking nice pictures than having the real life simulator.

If they did that it would be a full game not just a feature... That's a crazy amount of programming and imagine the size it would take up..

That would be indeed a good feature, and a fun one, but.. i just don't see that happening. Yes, it's true that Kaz mentioned it, but implementing such ''free roam'' mode through an update is tough work. Perhaps as a DLC maybe, but i don't see that happening either.

Yeah I can only imagine the costly damages he would rack up in his roaming around.. I think my 11 year old daughter drives better than most of my Bob's.

It would be cool to have a "highway" feature, with semi trucks and regular traffic. Imagine a time trial from say, Chicago to Madison, on a public highway, with a Lambo, or the X-1, or whatever you got. No cops, no tire or fuel restrictions, just pedal to the metal.

That would also be awesome...but I think we are already starting to design a new game here lol

Fair point, this is the future, the driving dynamics of GT5, The interactivity (without the bugs!!) of Fallout 3, the depth of world of Rockstar's developement.

The only limitation is the hardware !!

Have you guys ever seen the little mini movie/demo that sometimes plays at the main menu with a white Honda CRZ driving through a little city environment with a few other cars driving around? Just saying.... that might be the foundation for it.
