Just did 7 laps on the Nordschleife on an open lobby in the freerun. (mentioned 'freerun only' in the server title), fantastic. Slowly seeing it get dark, tires running and fuel running low; pitting in and on your way again.
Just riding on your own pace, along with complete strangers, best experience in GT5 yet for me. Everyone behaving nicely and not starting the race, nice clean driving as well, didn't expect to see that. Love this game 👍

PS. Polyphony Digital, please include a true freerun mode (possibly with storing of the laptimes to the timetrial boards as well)

cool man, nice that people wanna drive around and chilling. What you are talking about is cruising, verry popular in forza 3, message me if you want to have cruises etc.
 
Yes dude, they sorted it now so only the room owner can start the race and alot of people are just doing free run where it tells you the fastest lap and you got to try and beat it.

I was just in a cool room doing this , it was only Zonda allowed with R- intermediate tyres and all assist off on Deep Forest, it was crazy stuff
 
I must admit that I was really angry with PD and GT5 until I took the first AMG special event and run the gullwing on nordshleife. I could sit there all day!

I had a lobby like this last night. We ended up running 4 lap races on the ring and got to see it go from night to day twice. it was pretty cool
 
I was in a open drift game last night its cool because some where just watching. But I'm sure this did not factor in to the game reviews..

Changing cars on the FLY is also awesome.

Oh did they? I was looking for that option but it didn't notice it, thought it was still the same.
 
If anybody is interested, i've just opened a freerun lobby - my PSN is: EnKatMedEnHat

Its on Nordschleife with Change Time and no HP restrictions or Weight restrictions :)
 
I hoped they included this type of game mode so I'm very happy. Too bad they didn't include right/left indicator flash lights on the cars. That would make the Nordschleife experience complete but maybe a patch will add that?
 
these things would be great when i buy my wheel, just practicing at your own pace
 
This does indeed sound fun! If it wasn't for the wife watchin crap tv I would be giving it a try ha.

Can't wait for Christmas for my dfgt, wahoooo. Love the freerun idea.
 
Oh, my GOD. That sounds like so much fun. I am just right now, this minute, installing GT5 and its first update- haven't even seen the splash screen yet.

Between track building, and online cruising on the Ring, I simply cannot believe how much the new GT seems tailored to my whims :)

I will be turning up on free runs, always on the Nurburgring, probably in Boris or Natasha (white 911 or Boxster), going faster than anyone my (42) age ought to, but slower than all the twitch gamer kids, and enjoying the situation of gentlemanly driving being a GOOD thing for a change :)

See you there! I gotta grind for a while, learn the game and get my cars together. Might not even wait that long :)

I did that earlier today. Without doubt the highlight of playing GT5 so far.

Also set up a private room earlier and I have to say im very impressed overall. I set the settings to the highest because it says I have high bandwidth. I've always been disappointed with the voice chat on the PS3 but in this private room everyone was as clear as a bell.

Love how you can enter freerun and select start race when everyone is ready.
 
if you go back to watching mode though you lose your lap time which kind of sucks
 
it sounds amazing, i LOVE nordschleife, when i have the game and a proper car i will go on one of that free runs
 
I'd really like to see a racing mode where cars can't collide and everyone starts in the exact same spot. (Like TrackMania, if anyone has played that.) That's a true test of who's the best driver, and you don't need to worry about other people knocking you off the road.

Is there somewhere to suggest such a thing?
