Friday Rockets 20:30-21:30 BST Congratulations Champion EranFinished

(The video hasn't attached - I'll try later).

@IfAndOr - I think the redoing of cars probably relates to the livery editor rather than damage as @eran0004 suggested. Although some people complain about damage, I don't get the impression that realistic damage is a priority for PD - obviously I don't know this, it is just a feeling.

I've just watched a video of Willow Springs which is in the news section and was impressed with the interior view. Clear, reasonably wide, but with slightly disappointing image quality around the top edge of the screen - the curved edges seemed jagged. The welding marks on the roll cage were impressive and there was a good perception / impression of changes of gradient in the track - that video has swung me back in favour of getting hold of the game!

To buy or not to buy, that is the question.

The direct feed videos that will be posted in the upcoming days will be of a higher quality than those seen previously so they may sway you further. The new menu system looks very slick.

It's a PS4 exclusive title so I expect there will be a PS4 and game bundle when it's launched. That maybe the time to purchase and save a few quid. The game by itself is currently £50

20 (improved) AI cars on track at certain locations is an improvement. Although Pcars manages 39 - which I think can be used to fill the grid out online.

I agree, but it's 2016 in fact nearly 2017 when it'll be released and bouncing off a wall without a scratch doesn't cut it anymore. In fact that was one of the things that spoiled the realism in the videos I've seen. However I suppose PD wanted people to finish races rather than having carnage on track.

Damage is a weird thing, everyone wants to see it but nobody wants to use it. We have damage physics in GT6 and it's always off when you go online, just like weather and nighttime on the tracks where those are available.

I don't think Sick want's to use the damage model because it spoils the pictures. :)
It also increases the network burden because damage to one car has to be sent to all other PS3's to be recreated on everyone's screen. I suppose this would also be the case with GTS, so you're correct in that it might not get used on that to. It would be good to see it offline though.

Although with real damage the amount of times I hit the barriers at Aintree I don't think I'd have much car left. :P

Sick doesn't use the weather but in some of my other clubs they often have bad weather* and indeed night races. Bathurst gets really dark!

* Tarnheld's Zero Cup uses random weather. Might rain, might not.

@IfAndOr I didn't mean specifically these series, but online in general. Most of the time, if damage is enabled, people want to have it turned off, same with rain and nighttime.

Maybe they'd be happier to use it offline though, where the stakes aren't as high as they are online, and you can safely ragequit a race without spoiling it for the others.

About damage: i remember playing Indianapolis 500 as a kid, were you had "realistic" damage and instant replay available:
I have to admit i always drove the wrong way and watched the cars disintegrate. I guess many are waiting for this.

I mean there is a damage model right now and it can be used to encourage cleaner driving to a certain extent -- the race is basically over if you hit something as you have to limp back to the pits. It's way better than the useless penalty system. I'm not eager to have a more visual compelling rendering of the mishap of me or others, maybe for spectating it would be great, but not for the drivers. :) A useable penalty system would be way better than any visual damage.

Sad to see dynamic weather go away, as rain races or even races with the possibility of rain sometime during the race brings a nice strategic element with it.

We don't know yet what kind of dynamic weather that will be gone. It could be that any precipitation is constant, but it could also be that it's just the sky that doesn't change, and that rain may still come and go - as long as it's not clear skies of course.

Hopefully that's something they talked about at the private Q&A session.

You're the reason Kaz hasn't introduced damage to Gran Turismo then. :mischievous:

It's true online and offline damage is thought of differently. Online it's best to get everyone to finish the race if possible. Offline you can always pause it, have a cup of coffee and then press restart.

Thanks @CORRUPTEDDISC 👍 Excellent video.

It does seem to be very online orientated.
So to Kaz it is GT7 - sort of. Was there any mention of the next release (whatever it may be called)?

Any word of a course maker? I haven't scoured all the threads for news of it, but it seemed to be absent.

I didn't hear anything regarding the next installment or a course maker.

Not more things disappear, may be it will arrive in a couple of years time:(

Watch a couple of the videos, some of it looks really good. Would much prefer real cars, not keen on the vision cars. More cars, there doesn't seem to be that many.

In the track list, sure I seen Seattle, listed.

Have flags been included, this would be great, to have realism. I noticed at Brands Hatch, marshals at the side the track.

More classic cars please.

As promised, my full and condensed coverage of the whole event [presented in the same order as it happened through the day] :D

Superb work Corrupted disc - I enjoyed that immensely - it made eating my breakfast on a Monday morning into a special event! It's nice to hear a balanced review from someone who has experience of other games. Also refreshing to hear the opinions of someone who uses a controller and whose opinion I trust - corrupteddisc has been on my friends list for a long time so I know he is good player.

I will be interested to hear what you think of Asetto Corsa when that comes out on the PS4 - I presume you will be picking up a copy of that game?

I am pretty sure that I will get a PS4 at the end of this year, but I am not sure which game I will enjoy most - Project Cars, Asetto Corsa or GTS. If this game included the full roster of premium cars from GT6 plus the winners of car competitions, some of which we have been waiting years for, it would be an easy decision to splash out on a new console and game.

Thanks @Sick Cylinder , and yeah I've been thinking about getting Asetto Corsa when it comes out. I think you will enjoy pCARS a lot, as it features a good range of classics. Not as many as GT of course, but quite a few which GT has never had, such as the Merc 300SEL, multiple classic Lotus F1's etc.

Okay everybody, up on the roof, and let's do the 'Connection Gods' dance, maybe that'll work :boggled:

Oh, and if anyone knows some way of making Eran make one mistake, I'll take that.

Cheers, Zo.

He didn't make any mistakes at Laguna Seca in the Cobra Coupe on Wednesday. Regarding connections - Harsk suffered one in between races while Zeus disconnected during the Feature race while in a strong position.

With custom tracks - the PS3 and / or PSN doesn't seem to be able to cope with loading changes if a custom track has been selected so in future custom tracks will not have a qualification race, but will feature an extended practise period.

Appeal for Help:

The new Friday series - Boss 302 - will be starting in a few weeks and I would appreciate everyone's help in trying to get a full room - please do your best to find one new member!. There will be a prize for the winner of the series - a 1/43 scale replica of the Alan Mann entered Ford Escort Twin Cam driven to the BSCC title by the great Australian driver and three time BSCC champion Frank Gardner.

Sorry, I spent all of my mistakes during practice

@Sick Cylinder I'll be away all of July and a few weeks in August as well, so I'm afraid I'll have to be a reserve driver in the next series. That Escort looks great by the way, sure you don't want to have it as a reward in this series? ;)

Following the Frank Gardner Tribute series we will have what might be our last race series on GT6 - the Dave MacDonald Tribute Series and for that there are a couple of BMW M3 Will Hoy replicas to give away.

Really good turnout and fun battles at the back.

It was good to race on a familiar track and Zo's "don't disconnect" rain dance obviously worked.

Having said that I was really rubbish in the quali race and the first few laps of the main race.

So huge apologies to @richroo and sick for completely missing my braking point last corner 2nd lap and crashing into you. :dunce:I also in my panic missed the button to ghost myself and instead hit the change view button!!!:dunce::dunce: Which really made it worse for Rich!

I also dinked Paul at some point and near the end - Zeuss I really wasn't trying to brake test you. I always brake really early for that corner. However I realise you would have passed me just after that and spoilt your run at me near the end.

Overall good fun but I was no where near the speed of the front pack!

Thanks for hosting as always Sick.

We had some fun battles at the front as well.

My race started okay, but after a couple of laps my dog came by, said hi and insisted that it was time to lick me in the face, which brought my pace down by a second or two. I got stressed then while trying to close the gap to Simba and at the same having Lex in my mirror, so at the right-hander after the first hairpin I took a way too early apex, got off the track and Lex slipped by.

With nobody left on my tail I switched driving mode from defense to attack, and that improved my pace quite a lot, allowing me to stay on Lex's tail and slowly gaining on Miki and Simba at the top. By the time Lex caught up with Simba, I had set the fastest lap, and by the end of the second to last lap I closed the gap to them both, so the last lap was the epic bumper to bumper three-way battle for positions 2 - 4 that you can see in the video above.

Hey great racing again guys! It doesn't matter where in the pack you end up there always seems to race on!

Consistency is my weak point and this week it was pretty apparent. I kept catching Sick but then I'd make a mistake and lose a bunch of time, and then Suts caught me, and we managed to get by Sick. I followed Suts for a while so I was kinda surprised when you braked a little early, I wasn't sure if I was too late or what, I don't know why I hadn't noticed your pattern from following you, but in the heat of the race I hit you, it wasn't intentional. Glad you didn't spin off! And you were right it did spoil my run at you (not sure I would have gotten past you cleanly, it's hard to pass on that track) I should have been on a different line, but it happened.

Btw, if I do any stupid stuff that I prob shouldn't have please don't be afraid to bring it to my attention cause I want to be a better racer and you can't learn from your mistakes if you don't know you're making them....

Looking for to the next race!

Did you hear the one about the bloke who entered a race series that started exactly ten weeks before his wife's 56th birthday?

Turns out that the tenth race of the season was actually on her birthday.

Turns out that some 'mate' invited her round to his place for an evening of chat and wine 👍.

Turns out she expected her husband to be there as well................. 👎

Sorry fellas, although I should be grateful for the relief from my rapidly gathering decline, I was looking forward to trying to get back up to pace. Dammit.

Have fun on Friday, I know I won't :grumpy:

Cheers, Zo.
