The fact it rained in R3 just makes me feel even worse for not being able to join the lobby in time...![]()
Still...Only went to 1% Yera![]()
At night
I couldn't get near the 1:07.4 that you did at the start of the day, but as the races went on I just found a few tenths here and there. I lengthened 2nd gear out a lot, I was able to get up to 67 in 2nd, meaning I could use it for T3 and Club exit, that alone gained me 2 tenths. Those times I did have draft for, so take away 2 tenths for that and then you are quicker than me, and if you ever feel like doing one race in this, feel free because this car is so much more fun in the draft. The back end is more predictable, and the torque out of the corners is unreal! On a side note, have you noticed a difference with the handling since 1.03? It seems a lot different to when I first started driving it, faster, but it has a lot more rotation as soon as you come off the brakes...
Can't say I've noticed a massive difference, though I wouldn't be surprised as it seems PD did do some fiddling with weight distribution in that update.
Interesting that lengthening 2nd gained you so much, I was running pretty long gears since the BMW has peak power so low down (so I'm just at the end of the power band in top gear on the longest straight) but was using 2nd for entry to Club and T3, then shifting to 3rd once the car had straightened up. I was also revving the nuts off it in 3rd through T4, shifting into 4th just got the back stepping out.![]()
Might just be me then. I think it was because I had the rest of my gearbox set up wrong
. I had quite short, so at the end of hanger I was just about to redline, which is stupid because there is so little power that far up the rev range. With the long 2nd gear it allowed me to floor it and keep it straight, whereas if I was in 3rd gear at that point I would have had to be on 50% throttle to keep the back in.
I had the same problem in the GT6 demo with club, trying to get on the power on the exit of the 2nd corner, always caused the back to slide and I would lose up to half a second. This time round I was able to counter it. I had a slight issue with the little kink heading into 4, as you go over the little crest the weight transferred to the front and the back just kept trying to overtake the front of the car, which was the reason I spun in race 1 and race 3, but other than that this car liked the track
. Just hoping that Ascari doesn't have and bogey corners got this thing.
I saw you in all the races, but my connection isn't the greatest, so it was probably my end that messed up.
Could you see me? If snow, rolo and maybe a few other couldn't see me, I wouldn't be too surprised to be missing on your screen as well. It's a bit worrying for me because if I was having connection issues last night, then the next weeks will be hell. I was the only one on the internet in my house last night, for the next few weeks there will be at least 2 connected to it whenever I am racing.
Peugeot: 1:07.574 - Probably another tenth left in as it is, if I could tune out the outside wheel spin on corner exit I could probably gain 3/4. Not particularly nice to drive though, very planted, but also very mundane. Monstrous on the straights though.
On a side note, I picked up 2 tenths in the Focus (to see a comparison between it and the Peugeot) for a 1:07.93x (I think a .934, but honestly can't remember). I ran wide of the ideal line at Stowe though, so that probably cost me about a tenth. Love that entry oversteer, but the understeer on the power is just so frustrating.
Also worth noting that the Focus was about 2 tenths faster than the Peugeot up to the checkpoint just as you enter Hangar Straight.![]()
Took the Focus round Silverstone again to check for changes from 1.04, and it's slower than before. I can't take the corner onto Hangar Straight as fast as before, it just understeers wide. Going slower there costs 2 tenths up to the end of the sector, and then some more for the rest of the straight, + more understeer round club. I can no longer beat a 1:08.0.
Got a tenth of that back, but I'm still around 3 tenths off what I could do before (1:07.6 in quali, 1:07.4 with some slipstreaming in one of the races)
The new 'sticky' run-offs are highly irritating, and to be honest are probably going to cause a lot of accidents.
