Frustrated with B-Spec? Try the correct tires

Hey guys, I noticed there are a lot of people who are frustrated with B-Spec.. I was feeling the same but decided to upgrade tires (something easy to overlook) and guess what! No more running into walls etc.. now I'm winning races!

So if you're over B-Spec and haven't tried this.. Give it a go.

Also mods- if this has been done before please delete thread.

Thanks

My B-Spec driver is apparently really picky about what car he drives, regardless of tire choice. He'll destroy people in my Evora w/ Sport Softs and in my M Coupe w/ Racing Hards but he's worthless in my Gallardo w/ Racing Hards, and even worse in my Civic Type R w/ Racing Hards.

That being said, though, changing tires is a good idea for B-spec. It definitely helps.

I hate that "comfort" tires, which I assume really means non-Z-rated street tires, are so rubbish in this game. I mean, cars in real life can drive around at speed without nose-plowing into guard rails every time they try to turn. The comfort tires seem waaaay too squidgy.

What event could you possibly want use a Civic Type R with Racing Hard types in B-Spec for?

Have a look at the speedo some time. You just don't get any sense of speed in a game on a 2D TV with no peripheral vision. 60 mph feels like 20 mph. Even an F1 car can't take a tight hairpin at 60 mph, but people will happily try it in a stock road car in GT5 and complain that the game is unrealistic when they understeer off.

I mentioned somewhere before that I have tried this and got nowhere... I had a guy spinning out at Sazuka on the hairpins, the exact same spin out, fishtail and failed recovery lap after lap.

I upgraded his tires and suspension and guess what? EXACT SAME THING! Literally exactly the same, if you compared tire marks on teh tracks they would pretty much line up.

I don't even think this should be possible with different tires and suspension but, yup! It happened!

B-Spec, I am at 24, my drivers are retarded, anyone who disputes b-spec being broken please justify a level 24 (or intermediate driver) braking hard on every corner of daytona raceway, and even minor corners over the start finish.

If anyone can justify that I will back off, I do however, need to know how to stop my intermediate level racing (hmm..no..get out and walk it's quicker) driver from braking hard every corner.

I did a rome course with same car n tyres as my b-spec, I lapped the opposition, with coaching my b-spec came 3rd, I had to give him fully tuned just to win by a few seconds. On rome he just gives way to everyone, it's like you are dealing with the damaged kid from school who was constantly bullied.

Obviously there are people from polyphony who will argue that braking around daytona is needed, this is the internet :)

I dont know. I put my guy in a race car with way moe power than the rest of the cars with race tires and he still cant turn.

B-Spec has tyre restrictions, even if you upgrade for the best, the game won't let you use it, instead it will select the stock tyres which in most of the cases are worse than the required.

My driver refuses to even move on the leaders until the final lap. Prior to that he just deliberately drives like an idiot. (It's like he NEEDS it to be a close race, even if he has to settle for 2nd or 3rd -- which, usually, he does.)

I've even seen moments where it seemed like he HAD to pass because someone in front of him spun off into the sand, but no -- Instead he slows to nearly a dead stop and WAITS while the guy recovers and gets back on the track. Then he gives him a 3-5 second head start just for good measure, before finally getting back on the gas.

It's not the tires...

i don't really have many problems with b spec... sure the old daytona/indy unnecessary braking problem exists for all of us but IMO its the person controlling bspec thats the problem.. you cant send a lvl10 bob out in a lvl20+ car thats like giving a teenager a supercar... its just a bad idea

then i see people talking about how they have heaps more power.... THATS THE PROBLEM!

you cant have heaps of power because the rubber restrictions in most cases allow sports..... sports rubber is NOT suitable for 900hp... you will suffer a lot in corners when you have too much power as there is a thin line between bob effectively accelerating and bob spinning the wheels... the higher the power bob has the thinner that line becomes

to much power, to low level = crash
to much power added to any car without handling improvements = crash

If you add power, you must add cornering ability - period. Just because you add all cornering ability doesn't mean bob can handle full power, it depends on your car.

I have discovered it's far better to use the softest tyre permitted for the B spec drivers to use even on endurance races. I tried doing the MX5 endurance race with hard tyres thinking they would last longer, but they dont, the softer tyres not only are a lot faster but they last just aslong too because the idiot B-spec driver can't spin them up so much trying to go sideways around the corners.
Fitted soft options, instant win.
I would guess the only time hard tyres might be worth using as a strategic advantage is if the car has standard power.

Another reason Bob is so bad is because we are forced to used Sport Hard tires on the Indy Speedway. Who is the genius that thought of that?

One other thing you have to consider is that you can't give your level 7 Bob a level 20 car, as he will not know what to do with it (despite him being a RACING DRIVER). I was struggling in the Lamborghini Exclusive race in Rome, even though he had a fully tuned SV. He just couldn't drive like a person without mental retardation.

Then I switched him to the best tyres that could be fitted for that race and he quickly took the lead after about 3 corners and won.

try getting him to hold pace for a lap then push so your tyres will warm up thats what i do and bob is lvl 22

I was in the same boat. I have purchased different tires for different cars and thought I had the ones I needed for one of the races. (Race-Hard) Turns out I was on Sport- Hard or something worse! lol!! As soon as I put the "correct" tires on, Bob was off to Parc fermé.

My problem is more that the series restricts tires. So B-spec bob just spins out the last turn at Tsukuba. I hope he learns soon!

When you reach the higher level B-spec race, even if you use the best tire allowed, you'll still lose unless you have more power or correct settings.
