Fuel Consumption Idea!

Obviously I didn't mean that you could place it anywhere... (Imagines fuel tank on the roof!)

The problem with PD choosing the "Best" place for the moved fuel tank would be that you might not want it where they put it?! You may want to place more weight towards the back of the car to increase Grip at the back or drift etc... or you may want it towards the front to increase traction up front? Or in the middle cos the car is pretty balanced already?!

But I don't know how they would go about making the places that you could put it in in comparison to each car... maybe front, centre, rear for each car... (Except some where these options might not be possible...)

Well I imagine if they were actually going to do that they'd give you the choice of maybe 3 different locations (like the ones you listed), and if you don't like any of those, too bad. There are still limits to everything you can tune and you have to be practical. I think moving the fuel tank is going overboard anyway.

I'm wondering If fuel tank location is mandated in any series'. I mean, I don't think they would let you put it up front in a real car, and usually they don't want it in the same compartment as the driver so in real life you are pretty limity in your placement.

True, most racing series seem to dictate where the fuel cell can be placed. In Formula 1 for example it has to be between the driver's back and the engine, I'm sure other championships would have similar guidelines.

fuel consumption adds a dynamic variable to the game that can definitely be usefull for some of the longer races, at an elevated level of play. for beginner mode theres really no need to have fuel consumption. in beginner type racing cars are usually very similar in hp/ to weight etc anyway with very little variation. think honda cup and SE-R cup racing.
and races are too short (20-30) minutes for fuel loads to be a concern

but for the enduros, i definitely want dynamic fuel consumption. static consumption (X amount of fuel per lap) would suck. this would change gearing for a lot of players in the enduros. instead of maxing out the car just before it reaches the end of a long straight, now some people are going to use overdrives and just maintain their speed through the straight in order the reap the economy gain. think of the implications in a spec race. same car, same mods, same horsepower, but your gearing and fuel loads.

some of the less quick, but more economic drivers could be the kings of enduros.

i better go practise NOT being a lead foot.

I like the fuel consumption idea, it would give you something to do in endurance races, because you would have to make sure you don't run out of fuel. But I hope you can turn it off when you're in the single races.

Also having fuel would ad more realism in terms of weight......you would have to choose whether to run light to get an early lead, or fill full to get longer running times......But I would have to say that there would be a point were GT would get to real and complex.....and it wouldnt be really fun to calculate so many things.
