Famine
Anyway, speaking of things that are apparently very high:

That story was posted on our local forum recently.

Someone posted the snopes article calling it a fake. :(. Just thought it should be said.

It is. It's appeared almost word for word in a few dozen newspapers in every English speaking country on Earth. I only posted it so that I could get away with an otherwise unlulworthy post and the segue from the height of buildings to the apparent height of kerbs seemed appropriate.

Hahahha makes sense. On the local car forum we all took off with it. Had two pages of discussion going before the story was busted.

Ever see a thirteenth floor?

And for good measure:

People are too sensitive.

No. It's a sick joke. Not funny at all. That poor girl went through far more than anyone who is viewing this thread, she deserves respect. Sorry for posting this comment if it was unnecessary, but I just cannot let anything go past me which I strongly disagree on.

Sure some will understandably find it offensive, hell even I felt bad after grinning like an idiot. But the tittle does say no complaining.

Guys, it's an established historical fact that Anne Frank hated all forms of humour.

I for one am outraged.

Almost all humour is derived from a situation, characteristic or mannerism at the expense of an individual or group of individuals. I add the caveat "almost" because I can't think of any example that isn't, but I can't rule out that there is one.

Either everything is permissible for humour or nothing is.

That doesn't mean you have to find it funny - there are things I don't find particularly amusing - it just means that if you're allowed to crack any joke at all, everyone else is too and about any topic. If you don't find it funny, ignore it and move on until you find something that you do - and quoting the image just to say you don't find it funny means you and everyone who agrees with you just have to move on further.

That it does.

There are things we won't let fly. Those are the things that don't meet the AUP. The Anne Frank image is not a joke about Jews, the Holocaust, Nazis, girls, the Dutch or any personal characteristic of Anne Frank. It's situational comedy - one of the things she was best known for (amongst people who haven't read the diary) is hiding and her imaginary penchant for a noisy snackfood that didn't exist at the time is contrary to that. Dramatic irony used as humour.

No doubt had the image been Solid Snake or some other character from an early 00's stealth-em-up, we'd have run out of lol smileys by now - and I'm sure no-one has ever laughed at the Der Untergang video parodies...

Funny? Laugh. Move on. Not funny? Don't laugh. Move on.

And since this is the funny pic thread:

I was on a job run to Walgreens when I saw that...

No Walgreens staffer noticed... I stayed quiet..

And still you quote the picture.

As said by Famine, just move on.

It was for irony - the funny part about the Walgreens image is that someone has knowingly or ignorantly decided that 200 years of slavery deserves recognition by referring to the picking of cotton by said slaves... No-one descended upon that post for making light of centuries of subjugation of black people, yet one with a picture of a girl in and no reference to the holocaust got quite the negative response...

That is exactly why either everything is funny or nothing is. TheCracker was making the same point, only pictorially.
