Paper-only input/output is how it used to be! Modern version of the teletype terminal, or the DECwriter, both of which I used in college.... The paper tape was how you loaded your program the next time you visited the lab so you could resume your assignment.

Actually we're not the only ones; 21 other states don't have laws prohibiting it either. In some of the states that have laws against it; it's only a misdemeanor but, in KY it's a Class D Felony.
