Ok I hardly ever post. I enjoy reading much more than throwing in my two cents but this collaboration that Forza is having with the website Jalopnik is just awesome to me.

http://jalopnik.com/5455799/forzalopnik-round-one-group-i

Turn 10 and Jalopnik are joining forces to allow the readers to pick several of the next cars to be released in the summers upcoming DLC pack.

Now I've read many many times how people hate DLC and think it is ridiculous that we pay for the game only to have to shell out more money in the future for more cars. I tend to agree with that as well but if we were involved in the choice of what was in the DLC then I would be much more open to it.

Well I am just wondering what kind of interest there would be in a pairing of websites like GTPlanet or Jalopnik and PD in the future several months after the release of GT5 to allow us, car people and dedicated fans, to pick the vehicles for DLC (if there will be such a thing)

Again this is just a hypothetical.....but flame me if you must.

The reason I dislike DLC is because of that exact reason. It's obvious they already have the license for them, but just chose to hold them for DLC later on. If it's done right it's ok, unfortunately it rarely is.

Wow, pretty neat. I'm more or less for this if PD decides to do some DLC. I think it would make pretty good sense for them to poll us here at GTP to determine what goes in 👍

But I woudn't count on it..

The deal with turn 10 DLC is ha you first pay real money for the cars to be available in your game. Then you spend game credits in order to acquire the cars. That I never liked. I already spent real money so just gimme the cars. Microsoft has enough money why are they so greedy with everything 360 related?

I would only buy DLC if it contained race tracks.

I don't want to pay for cars that should be in the game from the start. I personally hate how T10 did this, even mentioning before F3's release that they would have car packs as DLC and even hinting at some of the cars that would be in them. I know a few friends that refuse to buy those packs because they feel like they are being nickeled and dimed to death.

The web site idea is interesting but I would prefer a poll on race tracks for DLC.

I'm sure if Porsche became available people would buy.
I would.

GT5 will have all the worlds best cars already on the disc. No need for all that crap.
Hopefully this time GT5 will have a 67 or 68 Fastback Mustang. It will have a ton of cars but it wont have all the cars everyone wants. There is always room for more dlc cars. I like this new idea of allowing the community to pick the cars they want. I just dont see GT ever doing anything like that. Doesnt seem like the GT series listens much to the community at all.

I like the idea of DLC, you are getting more cars that you couldn't cram on the disk to begin with. Or, perhaps you can now choose what other cars you put on the game. Either way, it's better for you.

Unfortunately, they do it for more money.

Ya It would be great if PD polled us here and but ya I'm not counting on it at all.

I think we will see Sony start to become just as bad with the nickle and diming.....here is to hoping it never gets too bad.

If it really had all the best cars on one disk then they would just copy all the cars from this site.... http://www.supercars.net/index.html

But that is horribly unreasonable and unrealistic.

Yes I would jump all over this.

I would only buy DLC if it contained race tracks.

Race tracks are a great idea!!!

Overall if the DLC is "given" to us like the cars that were updated for GT5P great....if there is no DLC then great BUT only if the I get to keep my cars for future GT versions.....like the encyclopedia idea that has been mentioned before.

Microsoft has enough money BECAUSE they are greedy with everything, especially 360 related... It's a business, all about making money, and if people are happy to pay, who are they to argue?

And every other company is different how? Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, they are all the same.

And it would be cool to get a partnership going. Perhaps with Auto Blog? It might be worth it for Jordan to contact Auto Blog and PD and see if they are willing to participate in something like that. We could even cut out the middle man and see if PD is willing to ask the forums to pick 10 cars they'd like to see in a DLC pack. Although I'd be worried it would turn into a excrement storm of idiocy and flaming instead of actually getting anywhere.

I'm not sure how it worked though to quell any issues.

Here's a concept: what about FREE DLC...
I think DLC (for one or two or a few cars/track) should be free... (refer to GT5P spec II, and spec III...)

If it's a real significant additional PACK or supplemental items that were not meant to be included in the original package, then yes, i would agree that it should be sold with a small fee. (refer to all the variation of "The SIMS" or other Warcraft games)

DLC will never be free, or at least all of the DLC won't be free. I think the way Forza does it is decent, give away a car or two and charge for the rest. DLC won't make or break a game so if you don't want to pay then you don't have to.

Here is something to consider... In Forza 3, you pay about $6 for 9 cars (T10 always made one in the pack free). The base game has 400 cars. So you are paying TEN PERCENT of the cost of the original game for approximately 2% of the game! Include tracks and I'd drop that figure to about 1%! I'd say it would be a little bit of a ripoff!

EDIT: ^^ It does get aggravating if you can see the cars on the car selection screen and you cant select it because you don't own it! It shows that it is "in the game" BUT you have to pay $6 for the stuff!

I gotta tell you, we'd love to work with you guys and GT5 on anything!

I bet GT5 will have DLC both FREE and Paid ones. Depends on a game, lets say its already on disc, and you pay to unlock its stupid (Capcom). But if game is realesed, a m onth or two later new car pack or tracks, then I would be glad to pay

I'd pay for DLC if it was done right. Cars I'm not so fussed with but extra tracks I'd definitely pay for. Bear in mind this will have to last us another 5 years or so til GT6 comes out. The more tracks I can squeeze in there in the meantime the better.

Holding back release tracks to sell as DLC later sucks bigtime but if they were to spend time and resources developing new stuff after release then I'll quite happily pay them for their work.

As long DLC will keep us for 2 years because PD mentioned GT6 will be way faster to work on sine engine will be used from GT5, cars , tracks, etc etc, so All they have to do is Extra cars, extra tracks some new features and bit crispier graphics. So a lot of it will be ready for GT6 release in Early 2012.

The two are way different. I still wanna see both. But for me I rather get a Ferrari over Porsche.

Are they really? what are they modified Porsche's? Like you i'd much rather see Ferrari's also, but i don't really understand why GT was never able to secure the porsche license...

Forza has Porsche, and they allow damage, so why not in GT?

If that's all they're going to do then why not release it piecemeal as DLC? That way you don't have to swap from 5 to 6 to race car-x on track-y. Smooths cashflow too which should appeal to the Sony suits.

Because PD had so many other licensed cars, I dont think they had enough of money to pay EXTRA for Porsche. EA has the license and Forza under Microsoft has bought them from EA I bet it was heck load of money. So PD has to wait until MARCH. RUF is a modified Porsche car.
Quote from Rufs are built from unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis. When a chassis arrives, Ruf builds their own independent work into the car.

I agree, why not sell a disc to install to PS3 for half a price with tons of add-on to upgrade GT5, or a huge DLC? Make it still GT5 on PS3 with a expansion pack. GT6 can wait until PS4 arrives and they have more stuff to put in.

Did you noticed that many of the cars Jalopnik' put for the vote are already in GT4
Renault 5 turbo, Volvo wagon, Celica's, Firebird, MG's, Alfa's, Delorean, BMW M3's...

I think the GT series is Jalop' by it's own nature (We can drive a 60's Fiat 500, a Citroen 2cv, a Jag' Type E... even the 1895 Benz!).

Forza must Download it...

-> It would be highly unlikely for PD to colaborate with anyone on the online media circuit. PD would collaborate with Road & Track magazine more than anyone like Autoblog or Jalopnik. Since one of PD's advisors is Sam Mitani of Road & Track magazine. :indiff:

1982 DeLorean DMC-12 (newer version in GT4)
1986 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST165
1988 Renault 5 Turbo
1992 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution I GSR
1996 Subaru Impreza WRX Type R STi (?)
1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V GSR

These are the only cars GT has from that list, though the list may be shorter, since I'm not sure about one of them. Most of the cars you posted aren't in the list of cars, though some of them are. Personally, I wouldn't be too proud of having some of the cars you mention. :indiff: I'd rather have those Holden's and Ford's.

Hopefully PD will go this route with a partner. 👍

But we already have RUF... good enough for me!

People who say this are really trying to put a blind side to the sheer amount of amazing cars Porsche has made and currently makes. RUF is just tuned/modified versions of the basic Porsche chassis. They don't make race cars and they never touched the Porsche Specialty cars.

Granted the cars they DO make are pretty awesome and they have a few notable vehicles (Yellow Bird).

Really the only correct answer is "I'd rather have both."

(No offense to you man, I'm just quoting you as a reference to everyone who says this.)
