It's funny that I've never ran out of battery during gameplay. The controller and the PS3 will give you enough signs that the battery is low.

What I recommend is that if you see that the battery has only one bar before playing, charge it and use another one. And always keep one fully charged.

👍 This is basically what I meant... In a "nicer" way.
 
Better yet but yourself a wheel then you don't have to worry because the wheel has it's own power source!
