Why do you all use the clutch anyway??

Ive hardly used it and rate it as useless. Same as the shifter.

I'm happy that the g27 is filly supported now, great news.
I'm just hoping that it has some feel to it finally, sick of it feeling like I'm turning fresh air.

Because why would you drive a car with a proper manual gearbox with flappy paddles. Yes it is easier but not as fun for that particular car. I love driving cars like the Lexus LFA and F340 Scuderia with the paddles but that is because I know the real car has them.

I don't worry about that crap. And the paddles arnt flappy lol
Using the shifter and clutch feel nothing like driving a real car anyway. And if people say it does then they are kidding themselves.

[sarcasm] Yes, because using paddles on a car with a h pattern shift is sooo much more realistic. [/sarcasm]

I know they aren't flappy. That's what Clarkson said and it just stuck. :sly:

I agree with it not being like real cars but it's closer than just pressing a button.

First of all, there is only engine breaking when using a clutch. This I am almost certain of. I first noticed it in prologue after doing the same time trial with an evo for several hours a day for more than a month. My breaking distance was without a doubt shorter when I used the clutch.

Second, it is more difficult to drive with a clutch and shifter than it is paddles. You have to use an extra foot and take your hand off the wheel. Most drivers will be slightly slower when using a clutch than paddles due to having to do more multitasking and time lost from being off the throttle. SOME people enjoy this extra challenge and prefer to drive cars using their actual transmission type.

I don't play game to think in driving a 458 lol. Do you? Lol
Please.

No, we drive the 458 to pretend it's an Escort. What is your deal?

I'm sure most people select any car in the game to get a feeling for that car, and I can genuinely understand the idea of using flappy paddles in a car that has flappy paddles, and the h-shifter and clutch when your driving a car with a proper manual gearbox.

^this^

And Monstar, do you know what a "game" is?

I for example drive all the car that are manual with the shifter, semi-auto with the paddle and the automatic one I only push 2 pedal and let the game change the gear for me

So why the heck do you play the game then?

I'm not sure what this full support really changes. The wheel already worked fully within the game.

Cannot assign buttons.
Clutch sucks.
Force feedback was extremely bad.

It makes a huge difference.

This is without doubt the best feature of this update 👍

I love my G27 but its gonna be even sweeter now the niggles of not being able to assign the buttons are going :)

Glad you finally listened Kaz 👍

I think it wasn't kaz his fault for this late support, but that LogiTech is just slow as he'll with support. I got a G19 keyboard of theirs but the last software update took them about 1.5-2 years to make. :S

Anyhow, now we will be able to finally compare the G25/27 with the T500 RS+TH8 RS. As those are the only officially supported wheels with clutch and shifter. ;)

Never tried the T500RS wheel, but what I've heard the FFB feels somewhat different with that vs. GXX series. This might just be the wheel itself but there's also a chance the game isn't fully supporting the GXX wheels FFB wise, so it's theoretically possible that things will get better with FFB after the update (G25/G27). This with the new physics update would perhaps mean a lot. 👍 Full speculation at this point, of course. Anyway, can't wait to test the old G25 with the update.

I have got the G25 and the T500 RS (TH8 RS shifter will be shipped to me on the 15th). I can honestly say that the FFB on the G25 is weaker then it should be, although the effects are the same as with the T500 RS. The reason the T500 RS feels different (and in my opinion better) is because the G25/27 is direct gear driven and the T500 is dual belt driven. Also the deadzone on the G25 makes it horrible to control a wobbly car like the Evo X. On the T500 there is no deadzone. Of course the motor in the T500 is much stronger which helps a lot when it comes to wheel speed and thus spin recovery. This last thing and the bigger wheel plus better pedals made me mainly choose to upgrade. Anyhow that's the biggest difference I see between the two.

Clutch works fine for me, no different than it is in iRacing, FFB was mutually bad in the game compared to pc titles no matter what wheel you used, and the officially supported DFGT FFB was worse than the "not officially supported" G25 and G27 wheels. Thrustmaster TS500 FFB might have been better, but then it is a better wheel, FFB with that wheel will be better in all games.

+ you can assign buttons to the G25, not the G27 but since all the buttons are properly assigned anyway this is an absolutely tiny issue.

Good news. I've always held the position that I wasn't going to get another wheel just for ONE racing game that decided not to support it.

The G27 works very well on every other game I have. Just seemed illogical of PD not to support it.

what great timing. I decided to take the plunge and order my first ever wheel (g27) about 2 days before they announce the 2.0 updates! I hope they smooth over a few things like you guys are predicting. I'm ready for some realistic clutch action.

How are the buttons properly assigned on the G27? I have to take a hand off the wheel to look left or right, I have to take a hand off the wheel to turn on or off the ghost(a huge issue for a time trialer like me), I can't assign RA menu or make adjustments with my wheel or do it on the fly, and I can't program the buttons the way I like. All of this while there are I think 4 buttons on the rim itself not being utilized. These are not tiny issues for most G27 owners and I am very pleased they plan to officially support the wheel.

Other than manual button assignments, the feature I am most looking forward to is the addition of proper turning radii for the car. It is far too easy right now to turn the wheel past the possible turning radius for the car, floating the wheel into dead space. Most games rectify this by having the force feedback become stronger as you get outside the car's turning radius.

To those hoping for better clutch mechanics, I wouldn't hold my breath. GT5's clutch works the same as every other game I own (much better than Dirt 3 actually). It is a limitation of the G-25/27 (and every other wheel on the market), not GT5.

Also fix the deadzone issues with the x2010 please!

I don't care about buttons (ducks the flaming tomatoes)
I don't care about clutch (even more tomatoes)

I just want improved FFB, that I feel when I plug the wheel into the PC with Logitech Drivers installed.

I also just want proper gas and break saturation, as currently it is non-existant since GT5 was released.

I'm still very excited and am thrilled at this great news coming in less than a weeks' time.

Still happy to have clutch and button support, (throws tomatoes back at the crowd)

Thanks Kaz, better late than never.

You shouldn't have to duck flaming tomatoes.:sly: We all want different things and I don't understand people getting upset at other people for wanting features. I don't use the G27 clutch that much but if they can improve its functionality for those that do then its great. Hopefully we can all be satisfied. If they do enough to just satisfy me then 90% of the playing population will probably be upset.

I hope you're right! It sure makes sense to me. If GT5 makes my wheel feel like it does on iracing, which is just slightly better both FFB and physics over GT5, then I will be a happy camper.
And if the lag can get reduced a little so I can race all the aliens across the pond, that would be nice, too.

That's not a GT5/PD issue, that would be a Dapper issue. You need a better connection if you can't race with Europeans/Australians/Asians.

G25:

left wheel button: look left
right wheel button: look right

shifter buttons:
flash lights, wipers, horn, ebrake, rear-view, traction settings

:D

Love this kind of setup with the look-left/look-right on wheel in iRacing. Look forward to trying it in GT5 also.

But... You are just wrong on all points. There is a reason that over 3800 people have voted for g25 and g27 support on the gtplanet feedback section. The buttons are NOT properly configured, the ffb on the g27 has gotten WORSE since the game came back, and it definetly can get better.

Clutch sucks? lol Just admit that YOU suck at it, bro

Ummm... There is no slip point. That has absolutely nothing to do with my personal skills. Go away troll.

I have to agree that the clutch in GT5 sucks. I miss second gear like...every time. It's gotten to the point where I more often use sequential shifting now (thank god I have a G25). And when you miss a gear it's neigh impossible to get it back into one, meanwhile you're flying off the track trying or loosing boatloads of speed.

This doesn't happen to me in any of the PC sims I play. The catch point on the clutch is so odd and close to the floor and if you miss you're SOL for a few fumbling seconds.

I totally agree. However, I hope the clutch is improved as I always miss going from 1st to 2nd gear in pretty much any car. I really thought it was me, until I tried GTR Evo on PC with clutch and it worked perfectly. Keeping my fingers crossed that the clutch will be improved this time. :)
