I have just bought a G25 wheel set and mount.
I don't know if I'm actually having a problem or if this is how it's actually meant to be.

Whatever car I'm driving, I tend to spin out quiet a lot.
ALL driving aids are turned off except ABS i have set to 1.

Same settings with the PS3 pad is fine, I can keep the car going straight all the time but with the wheel, sometimes if I'm about to swerve or make an aggressive turn the car always spins out the opposite direction.

From always finishing 1st more or less (with the pad) I'm always finishing last now with this wheel.

Are there any other settings I have overlooked?

What's this FFB setting?

Can it be turned on/off?

How can I set it up so It's more or less the same as playing on the pad as at the moment I'm finding it really really difficult to not completely spin out once in a race.

What are you driving exactly? Try some low-powered front wheel drive cars and see how you get on. If you're driving powerful rear wheel drive cars, you're probably being too quick with the throttle. It's much more difficult to get used to than the pad, because with the wheel you have 900 degrees of rotation to do what maybe an inch of joystick travel does. If you're letting the wheel turn itself, don't, you have to fight the wheel whenever it's trying to make you do the opposite of what you want.

Try lowering the force feedback (which is what FFB is, if that's what you meant by "What's this FFB setting?"), but it ultimately won't really help as it's just the force with which the wheel turns itself.

Is it oversteer (i.e. rear wheels spinning up, losing grip and overtaking the front wheels) that you're struggling with or is it that the car physically steers itself off the road? You might also like to try adjusting the brake bias so that the front is stronger than the rear, I find 5/3 to be a good setting for road cars.

I don't really know what else to suggest, these are just some things off the top of my head. I'm sure someone will be able to help you, though.

Whenever someone gets a wheel for the first time it feels like this, you just need practice and you will be able to learn how to control the wheel, don't be afraid to fight it either....you could try turning down the force feedback in the options menu to make it abit more manageable until you get used to it.

Look at this thread to help with G25/G27 tips. Lots of older tips about the G25 when it was first released. Yes most is related to GT4/G25 but will help with GT5P/GT5. Also look at my G25 pictures for some diagrams for the G25.

And a blank one

Feel free to print them if you wish,
sometimes I remap my shifter knob up/reverse down/e-brake for those tracks that like to hold your car in guardrails and tight turns. also helps on some test and dirt/snow tracks.

Thank you all for your input.
I've taken the advice and set the ffb setting in the game options from (default 5) to 1 and yea it's made the steering a little lighter and a tad bit easier however I'm still losing control quiet a bit.

With small pp cars like anything under 550pp, the car seems okay and only spins out and lose control when my wheels go over the red/white markers on the edge of the road.

Anything more powerful than 600pp and I'm really struggling to keep the car from spinning.
I think 4WD cars like Subaru imprezas and GTR skylines seem okay and very rarely spin out.
With that said, the GT500 cars like the calsonics, Xanavi nismos and NSX GT500 cars spin out the easiest and harder to keep on the track.
Is this because of the torque?

Does anyone have an idiots guide as to what all the settings mean and do?
I know it gives you brief description in the settings page but stuff like LSD/camber etc I don't know what all that means or does lol.

But yeah my main problem is controlling the throttle. Too much gas setting off out of a corner and my cars in doughnut city!

I don't know too much about the camber etc, but Im just saying that all the things you just described are normal and will go away with practice.

Classic case of having to relearn how to race with a wheel, there are really no "settings" to help it make it easier. I'd recommend you but your FFB back up to 6 at least, keep yopur aids OFF, then spend several hours racing lower powered cars, that's the only way to start understanding how you have to control throttle, brakes and steering inputs.

I mean 600pp cars a really really tricky to drive perfectly, with very smooth modulation, so you shouldn't be upset that you're not making laps like you were with the pad, cause the pad actually aids the stability of a car a TON, so seriously just keep practicing and you will start to connect with the wheel and understand what "messages" the FFB is sending you about the balance of the car.

This new update apparently upgraded FFB sensitivity for steering wheel users????

My Logitech G25 steering sensitivity has changed DRAMATICALLY!! (in a BAD way)
All cars for me are pretty much un drive able for me, the steering has become MUCH stiffer and noiser and it's really hard to steer even slow Front wheel drive cars.

I previously had my FFB set to 1 and was just beginning to adapt to it and now with this update it feels like its set to 7 or 8. Steering is really hard and heavy I hate it.
Is there any way I can undo the update??
PLEASE calling all G25 owners: have you noticed much stiffer steering on your wheel??

Hey there Crasher Kid,
Just started witha wheel? Think its impossible to drive with?...Join the club...everyone goes through this stage!
All I can say is, if you want to go faster...DON'T GIVE UP! You will get use to it.;)

I remember going from DS3 to G25...It was disheartening to be driving so badly at first...but I got better and am now faster with my Wheel than I ever was with the DS3.

Notes: Drifting and catching drifts in GT5 with a wheel is rather difficult even for experienced wheel users....don't panic about that.

To get use to the wheel: Take a low power stock car (Toyota 86 GT would be perfect) with Sports soft rubber to Eiger Short track...if this doesn't help...nothing will!;)👍
All the best,
Rusty*
