I've been planning on getting a wheel for Gran Turismo, but I don't know what to choose. And I've done a little research.

The Driving Force GT: This is basically the G27 but without the clutch, configurable buttons, it doesn't have the H shifter but an Up/down shifter, and it's cheaper.

The G27: It makes no whirring noise, pedals feel more realistic, Clutch, paddle shifters etc etc..

But the problem is, the G27 is not officially supported by Polyphony, so you CAN NOT program the buttons. But it DOES work.

I REAAAALLY want the G27, but I also want configurable buttons.

BUT, I wont be using the wheel for anything other than GT5

Another thing, which one is better for drifting? Because basically the only thing I do on GT5 now is drift.

Note: I do have the money for the G27.

If you can spend the money, go for the G27. It's so much better in many ways.
Quiet, Clutch, H-Shifter, better FF, and so on.

Just by switching from DFP to G27 I became better in drifting and racing too.

Is it good enough for drifting?

G27 for drifting rocks, I don't know about the DF GT but to me its like a DFP (I owned one for 5 years) upgraded, bigger wheel better FFB but still those ****** pedals.
H shifter is really usefull on G27 when you need to drop 2 gears in once on slow corners after a big straight.

If you go G27 you won't regret it, if you go DFGT and you're really serious about drifting I'm pretty sure you'll want to upgrade to a G27.

If you're going to be learning drifting on the wheel when you get it, I'd suggest the DFGT then upgrade when you know what you're doing. The reason I say that is because you really do throw the wheel around alot and give it a beating. So i would much rather do that with a cheaper wheel and risk it breaks rather then a more expensive wheel and it breaks.

I have g27 and i never trade it or choose any other wheels , its like a Father of wheels ;D
If seriuous , yes G27 is the best wheel in nowa days i think . It really helps to learn best of drift . I go for G27 !!!

well i think you get Warranty . And yah i used G27 when i just started drifting and i broke it but i got 5 yers Warranty for it so its a not big deal :D

I'd still rather beat down a cheap wheel, then upgrade. Which is what i'm doing

I know it whirrs but have you considered a g25 as it's cheaper and has a sequential shifter which is better for drifting.
Though I'm still learning to use it
It a good compromise between the g27 and your other wheel
I would recommend a g25 any day

Good luck finding a G27. They're nearly impossible to find under 500 bones. Logitech has said that they were making more. But it's been out of stock for a half a year now atleast.

Get a Fanatec 911 GT3 RS V2 Clubsport edition. It costs you only $360 for a similar steering wheel, far better pedals (Aluminum build and clutch pedal), and both a sequential and a h-pattern. It's a steal ifyou ask me. And if your drifting it comes with a line on the top of the steering wheel so you know where the top is. Independent ffb and steering lock separate from game. And that's only to name a few things.

I don't know why everybody forgets the G25... it is better than the G27. The FFB is better because of 2 motors, it has a sequential mode which is ALOT better of you want to do full link drifting and the quality of the gearbox is a bit better. Try to get a G25 before thinking about the G27.

I didn't buy a G25 because it's cheaper, I did it because it's the better one

They're still in stock in my country for a strange reason :S

They've been out of stock in the US for at least a half year now. I have had a G27 before. The Fanatec items are just so much better. It has such a nice feel on GT5, iRacing and F1 2010.

+1 👍

But wait, I'm only gonna use the wheel for GT5, and also, I cannot buy anything online due to my parents being insecure. And the only wheels that are in stock are the DFGT and the G27

How exactly is it a lot better? Are you sure you don't mean easier. I handle the shifter fine on my G27.

I guess that's why they make a mod for the G25 shifter to feel more like the G27...:ouch:

Yeah, then G27 it is. Where do you live that has a G27 in store? I've never seen one in any store in the US.

I live in bahrain, all the way in the middle east, and not a lot of people are GT enthusiasts.. So yeah not a lot of people buy it.

Monstergauz your opinion is biased.
And sequential is not better or crappier. And sorry but as someone ahead said, the shifter is crappier on the G25 and that's why they ditched the sequential mode on the G27.
I have a lot if friends with G25 and they all experienced shifter problems.

To be honest if you can get a new g27, if you can't and still want a top quality wheel get a g25. As it's a brilliant compromise between the g27 and dfgt. I was in exactly the same position as I wanted a wheel. But was torn between compatibility of gt5 and a good drift wheel so I decided to do a compromise and buy a g25 for about £30 more than a dfgt new it is well worth it and if it brakes ring up logitech and say it's stopped calibrating and normally they give you a dis counted g27.
It doesn't matter what wheel you get
But just remember you get what you pay for and a steering wheel that used to cost over £200 must be a pretty good quality product.

For their time, yes the DFP and DFGT were good wheels but by todays standards you are comparing a PS1 to a PS3.

Ok wait, is there currently ANY wheel that has:

1. Clutch
2. H-shifter
3. Paddle Shifters
4. Configurable Buttons
5. Force feedback
6. 900 degrees
7. Officially Supported by Polyphony (Available on the options menu)

And please do not reply with the THRUSTMASTER T500 RS. Have you seen the price tag on that thing?

i'm living in Lithuania and when my wheel was broken i get it to warranty and they said to choose money or wheel , becauze they sed that Logitech stoped making G27 cauze its too expensive to make it and they sell it for less , but i choose G27 , not money , becauze all what i readed , in my opionion G27 is best wheel in nowa days . TM500 tryed to copy it but they failed ;/ So get G27 As soon as posible becauze you can miss your chance ;| And it is maked of steel , that means it will be harder to broken , all shifts are made of steel and wheel is of leather so its very comfortable .

I'm not G27 fanboy , just i think its best for now ;/

I'm not sure you got my point. I was referring to the g25 being over £200 when new. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.
My point was just because a g25 is second hand it should not be ruled out of contention.

I was lucky and got an unused G25 in ebay. If you can try to get one! If not get the G27, it's the best choice after this IMO and you can still built a sequential mode out of a DS3 and a lever :sly: really works!

I'm about to order a G27 too man my G25 broke down :( It's funny how everywhere they seem to be out of stock but here in Sweden they stock up with 50 wheels like a week or two after they've ran out :D
