G27 vs DFGT

I'm wondering if i should just go all out $300 for a G27 or $150 for DFGT and other stuff.

What else could I get with the DFGT to enhance gaming ?

Not even close, if you want a real "feel". Get the G27. Just keep your hands off mine. :)

And then, maybe get Chilicoke's adaptor, so you can mount your favorite Momo :sly:

I suggest you go with the G27. But I'd look at a refurbished one for a cheaper price. I got mine out-of-box (just opened) for $250 :)

P.s Is there anything i should be aware of? Do any of your wheels take a beating and still are fine ?

They are "tough" yes, but if you can buy an extended warranty, I'd do it.. They can be broken, but it isn't easy..... I broke one, and was glad I had the extended warranty... :) Also, the "adapter" that Chilicoke "sells" is worth it if you can't get one done yourself(it's not that tough), as it is nice to have a bigger wheel. Cheers.
 
My G25 is still going strong - I bought it in late 2006 (a few months after the G25 was first launched).
I mostly use paddleshifters though, so the stick shift - the only part of the set that feels uncomfortably flimsy - probably has less wear and tear on it than some people might put it through in well under a year.
 
Well you really need a Wheelstand or something similar and that costs around 150! So if 300 is your limit I would go with the DFGT as you have money for a racing setup...
 
If you can get G25, bought G25, its has the H shifter plus secuential and padles.

No doubt.
 
G25's and G27s do have one flaw, they can lose their alignment while racing. Very very annoying to deal with when your wheel is 15 degrees out of alignment every lap. It is also very easy to fix. You can pause, unplug the USB and it will reset the alignment, but this is not permanent. Or you can crack open the case and epoxy the sensor to it's input shaft and never have the problem again.
 
I have never had any issues with any of my Logitech wheels. They are VERY durable. Also, if you are creative, you can find a firm base to mount your wheel to. Before I built my cockpit, I just used a couple old (small) satellite speakers to prop up the front of a heavy end table, and placed the peddles underneath. Don't skimp on the wheel, when all you need is a little creativity. Then, when you can build a cockpit, you won't feel like you short-changed yourself on your initial purchase.

The only time my wheel goes off center is when I hit a wall (rarely), with the damage on. If the damage is set to light, it will "repair" itself in a few seconds.

You're right at 100%. I did the X2010 Challenge today and every several times, I had to unplug and replug it for it to recalibrate.
 
I can recommend the Fanatec Carrera wheel. Has a "quality" feel. The pedals and shifter feels like real!

Great wheel for good price
 
Well, Kaz promotes the DFGT and had a hand in designing it specifically for GT5. It is also very affordable and you can get a Wheel Stand Pro to go with it for the total price around 300USD
 
Speaking of reliability, has anyone ran across this regarding the Driving Force GT.

I've been using mine (bought off craigslist, but almost new) for the last month or so. I only have the force feedback set on 2 (out of 10). Last night I was playing for about 3 hours, the last 2 hours being the Ferrari F1 seasonal races. The F1 cars have so much downforce and grip that the force feedback is pretty strong.

Anyway, I was halfway through the last race on Eifel track, which is so undulating that I was really wrenching the wheel around, nearly took it off its stand in fact. I did start to notice that "burning rubber" smell you get when motors are overheating and the back of the unit felt hot to the touch. The force feedback is still working, and I kinda drove the rest of the race as smoothly as I can and called it a night.

That doesn't seem normal to me. Anyone else run into this issue? Are we not supposed to be using the wheel for 3 hours at a time?

Also, if the force feedback mechanism eventually packs up, I can still use the wheel as a non-feedback controller, right?
 
I had both...DFGT to start...then the G27. G27 is the way to go!

I picked mine up from logitech for $239 not sure if that deal can still be had somehow
