Here is my review of my GamePOD GT2 EVO.

My buying experience with Ash at GamePOD was far better than I could have expected. Ash and his people are very professional and I don't think it would be possible for a company to operate any smoother.

I had a few questions regarding the rig before placing my order so I emailed GamePOD and received my answers within minutes. Some of the other companies that I sent emails to never responded.
Once my order was placed I received an email from GamePOD informing me that there was a problem with processing my card. Ash let me know this happens on occasion with international orders and that I should contact my bank to let them know that I did in fact place the order. I contacted my bank and that is exactly what happened. They put a hold on the order because of the amount and it being an international order. They cleared it right away for me.

Next came shipping.. I was sent an email from FedEx stating that the shipment was picked up from GamePOD and they gave me a tracking number. I only wish FedEx could operate as professionally and smooth as GamePOD. First problem was FedEx clearing for Customs. FedEx called me asking me what was in the packages. I emailed them a copy of the invoice, I also contacted GamePOD and Ash did the same for me. That wasn't good enough initially. I then sent them a link to the GamePOD website and emailed them pictures of what was in the boxes. Once I filled out and faxed the paperwork for customs it was cleared.

Delivery.. Some of the boxes were damaged during shipping. I was a little concerned however once I opened the boxes I could see that GamePOD did an outstanding job of protecting the contents. Not a single ding or scratch.

Assembly.. The more I removed from the boxes the more I became impressed with the product. I was initially concerned about the side plates that hold the seat when I first looked at the pictures on the GamePOD website. I was a bit concerned that the metal wouldn't be sturdy enough and the seat may wobble. As soon as I held it in my hand all concern vanished, it's a thick heavy piece of steal. Putting the rig together was easy and straight forward. I did not have a copy of the directions so I emailed GamePOD and Ashed sent me the directions via pdf file. Ash to the rescue again.

My impression... WOW, I could not be more happy with my choice. GamePOD is a first class company. People may think the price is high. I don't see how Ash can sell the EVO for the price he does. The seat alone is $1,000 from the manufacturer. The workmanship and quality of materials that he puts into the frame is top notch. It is a very well designed and built rig. It is very comfortable and sturdy, I get very little movement from anywhere. I use a Logitech Driving Force GT and it mounts right on, it doesn't wobble. The pedals are planted to the base and feel as if they are hard mounted.

I highly recommend GamePOD, great people and a great product.

Thank you GamePOD.

If I may ask, what did it end up running you with shipping and tax?

I believe it was right at $1,400 total to my door, I live in Tucson Az. It is a little expensive but as I said its a real race seat that lists for $1,000 from the manufacturer. I'm a firm believer in "You get what you pay for".

Hi guys,

Many people are asking me how long it took to receive once ordered. I ordered on November 11th and it arrived on December 17th so about a month. One of the reasons it takes a while, and I could be way off here. I believe that the seats are the culprit in the time. GamePOD uses real FIA approved racing seats, I believe the seats are made once the order has been placed. Seats are probably like helmets and date stamped and only legal for a period of time in racing. When I opened the box the aroma of fresh resins rushed out. The house smelled wonderful for a few days but then I also love the smell of race gas in the garage.

It looks like you have the seat bracket mount a little too close to the pedals. That setup would probably be for a shorter child using it. But for adult use it would be best to mount the bracket all the way to the back end of the frame. Just a sugestion. Nice choice for a cockpit. GamePod would be my choice too if I ended up choosing one but decided to build one myself and my design is similar to it too.

One of the issues with the GT2 has always been them being IMO 4-6" too short in length.

They are addressing this with a new pedal plate that can be angled and slid further forward. ISR briefly showed this in their GT5 video.

GamePOD is however one of the best and most stable cockpits out their. The main frame can be had for £300 which is very good value compared to others like Playseat.

The Cobra EVO seat alone In the UK with runners and mounts would set you back approximate £600 at a competitive dealer like Merlin Motorsports.

I ordered my GT2 on the 12th this month and have not recieved anything. Only a confirmation e-mail saying they recieved the order. I sent them an e-mail a couple of days later asking about T-500RS compatability and praising their product (sucking up you could say) in hopes of getting a reply.

I hope this is usual standard procedure for GamePod. For I am chomping at the bit for my new toys.

go to http://insidesimracing.tv/forums/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=1950, Papa is very helpful and has good contact with Ash from Gamepod, am sure he can help you get your answers

I have a gamepod, i am receiveing my T500 today, from what i understand you need to drill holes for hard mount, since the pre-drilled holes are for logitechs. however Papa said in his thread that gamepod will make upcoming models compatible with the t500, so i assume they will be pre-drilled TBC

good luck and enjoy

Thanks Lunarwolf, I posted on the site hopefully I will get some feedback soon. On a side note Quite the crapstorm going on over there with that M5 asstulip. Seems to be one of those jokers everywhere you go. Thanks again, will stay in touch.

Just ordered a GT2 from Gamepod and can't praise Ash and Lee enough for their excellent customer service, a breath of fresh air in comparison to most of these sim racing firms!

Picking it up on Tuesday, can't wait...

I'm not having the same experience everyone else is having with Gamepod. I ordered a GT2 mid January and still have not received any shipping information from them.

I emailed them two weeks ago for an update and received no response. Last week I emailed them again and was informed it would ship out the next day.

I still haven't received a tracking number :grumpy:

Very Nice! A bit pricey if you ask me, but still an excellent setup nevertheless. Congratulations.

If the Evo's too much for you then you can have a GT2 like mine for half the price. I bought the frame only for £315 and put a Corbeau Forza on it, obviously not as good as the Evo seat but very comfy nonetheless!

@Spyder-Si... Is the Corbeau a drop-in replacement for the frame? Or did you have to put some elbow grease on it?

The Corbeau has exactly the same mounting holes as the Cobra's so it just bolted straight on. Checked with Ash at Gamepod first and he kindly gave me the measurements, M8 fixing mounts 290mm left to right and 330 front to back which is pretty standard for a lot of bucket seats apparently.

This is the only GT2 Evo review I've seen searching the internet. Thanks for the input! I will save up a few for this definately. I currently own a Playseat and this just looks amazing. The gamepod website isn't very detailed. They use the same single picture for evo and evo pro.

How does your back feel paying in this seat? I get back aches sitting in the playseat.

How's the driving position? :D

Yep, I am in the same boat. Want to upgrade the Playseat Evo and would like to eliminate the pole. Probably looking at the base and buying my own seat as well. Any measurements on this anywhere as I hear length may be an issue? Would love to know what the minimum and maximum adjustments are.

I cant see how the length of the seat would be an issue but I would advise going for a bucket seat or at least one that isn't too heavily padded on the actual seat area so you're not sitting too high. I put the mounting hole dimensions in my previous post and I think any Corbeau or Cobra motorsport seat will mount to the frame.

Ordered the GT2 Monaco, Aluminum Cheker plate with Buttkicker mounts already for the seat along with various other attachments I felt I would want. My question is to anyone out there who has the Gamepod that has used a Buttkicker Gamer 2 with it? I'd like to know your thoughts and if you feel 2 would work even better or if the second one is a little redundant. I can still add the extra mount needed to have 2 Buttkickers mounted with the rubber isolation bushings. I hope I enjoy this as much as it all cost. I must say thoe that Ash was very helpfull once I ordered at making sure I had the order right. I first had some wrong parts added I didn't need and he pointed this out to me. Any other info that I may find usefull during assembly that owners are aware of please let me know.

Time to Drive,
Simon

I have not experienced the Buttkicker yet but am thinking about it. Honestly I dont really know what or how it works. I do however have the GT2 Monaco with the T500 setup. I am 6'1 tall and I fabbed up and extention plate to mount the pedals further out and at an angle. Very nice.

Simon, do you have any knowledge or experience of AV surround sound?
Their is nothing special about the "Gamer" basically you have an amplifer that drives a silent speaker or known as "Tactile Device". It is okay in that it produces a decent tactile effect but very limited as a product.

Ive recommend on these forums several times including recently see other threads. That you purchase the "Clarke Tactile TST209" or consider the "Aura Pro" or if wanting Buttkickers their "Mini LFE" models. Really all you need is amplification with approx 100 watts but in 4ohms. Get a suitable cheap AV Receiver and that will allow you to run more than two if you want.

Buying 2x Buttkicker Gamers is a non upgradable path and adding additional units after this still require more amplification.

Its quite simple to attach 2x Clarke TS209 to either side of the Gamepod angled uprights for the seat. You can then have "Stereo Tactile" that way. However still get the BK EVO seat mount as that allows you to attach your shifters etc.

You can look in my own cockpit Project R thread which covers some recent additions to the tactile Ive added.
Oh and Ive responded in "Papa's" thread on ISR.

Not bad advise indeed. Yes I am fammiliar with Home Audio. I have a 7channle amp and a 6channle amp I can use as I do not use all the outputs on either of them. I'd like to get a little more in depth with you after I get the Gamepod in. I can always return the Buttkicker's back to Amazon. The seat plate and Rubber isolation bushes I may just have to be stuck with if not needed as to far to ship back. Thanks for responding and lookforward to talking again for sure.

Hi again, well keep us posted on when you get the GamePod in.
With your amplifer just check you can use the 4ohm speaker setting.
Apart from that your not going to have much problems.

Keep an eye on some of the threads here as "jswilli" is due to get his Clarke TST209 units and well you can see what his opinions are going to be regards their performance. Only a few of the guys here have them so far but I can see them getting more popular.

It would be possible to attach these onto the EVO BK metal plate with a simple drilled hole as the Clarke TST209 comes with various mounting options.
Youd need approx 18" of width to mount 2x side by side under the platform. With you having the GT width of seat and this base it might be wide enough.

Ive yet to take delivery of my seat base yet I ordered so cant be sure.

Its been a few years so I figured it would be a good time for an update.

The GamePOD is still performing as it did the day I got it set up. I use it almost every day and I have had zero problems with it. As you can see in the pictures I have added a T500. I Move the rig from another room to the room that you see it in. The T500 adds almost 40lbs to the rig. In order to do this I grab the chair, lift, then drag. The rig is so well built the it easily allows me to do this. I have only needed to retighten the mounting bolts once. I am not worried about it becoming loose over time because of the mounting bolts and mounts.

I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this product.

Nice lookin rig, but a 1000$ seat that is not. Its a Knock off Mold thats been passed around the Full size Racing/Sim mfg community more than a 1$ hooker.

Also Real Competition seat's are FIA Approved with serial number's and expiry dates.

Had not seen this thread before but I can go with the OP about the build quality of the GamePod...

I had a GamePod GTX a while back and it was a great rig until I built an aluminium profile based unit for triple screens. I think Ash and his team need to look into a triple screen rig of some sorts :)

Dig up an old post, as I also have a Gamepod UK frame, it's about to be retired now for a profile setup. It's served me well over the past 15+ ish years. Main issues that lead to change were steering wheel mount a bit loose in the "rake" forward/backward direction, lack of customising options for things like load cell handbrakes. I am moving over the seat as a new frame to save a bit of money.
Gamepod UK have shut down for good, since about 2015, hard to tell as their public information is limited.
