There's almost always a game that's made you cry just a little at something that happened. Which game was it for you?

For me, it was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, here's why.
If you've played MW and MW2, then you've grown to love the characters. People like Price and Soap. Then they introduce new characters. I really didn't feel a connection to the Marines in CoD4, nor the Rangers in MW2, but I really loved Truck, Grinch, and Sandman. Then Yuri came along, but I really didn't feel connected until I learned his story. Then I felt a little of the anger towards Makorov that he did.The first time I felt angry at Makorov was when he killed Soap. That's the first time I teared up in this game. He was my favorite character from any video game, and he's dead! I really thought he was going to pull through, but he didn't. :( Then when we reached the mine, I really wanted to kill Makorov and his army. I found myself doing more knife kills just to give AI's the worst death. Then when the mine started collapsing, I really wanted Sandman and his team to get in the chopper. That slow motion fight was epic. Then the mine fell onto Delta, that time I said "NO!" outloud and my friend couldn't figure out what was wrong. They were some of my favorites too, just killed by Makorov. When we finally got to the mission to kill that bastard, I was putting my anger into every kill. Then when Price was about to be killed by him, I expected Yuri to save the day. But instead, he just got executed. At that time I couldn't feel sad, I just got even more angry.

I wouldn't recommend reading that if you haven't finished the game.

I haven't played it but I imagine it's the cynical shock value bit isn't it?

The ending to Fallout 3 pre-DLC was pretty sad for the most part. But it was an amazing game - I've played through it two or three times... I'd recommend it! 👍

The Getaway and The Getaway - Black Monday. Both of those games are intense but in some scenes might made you shed some tears. It's quite a long game and violent...

Final Fantasy IX. The ending was just sad as hell, to me, until it turned into a suprising happy end. I just felt very connected to the characters, especially Zidanne, to a degree that never happened before and never therafter.
Thought he hit the bucket when the Lifar Tree colapsed onto him and Kuja... Kinda glad that Squaresoft decided to bring him back for the happy end. And no, I don't give a damn about how he did it

Lufia II gets an honorable mention.
It's just so frustrating to see Dekar sacrifice himself and lose him as a playable character.

Uncharted 3, not because it was a particularly sad ending, just, emotionally awesome.

Showing my age, but Final Fantasy VII, between Aeris and Red VIII and Cloud, the charters stories and the way they were told just blew my 17 year old head.

MGS Snake eater was great as well. Snake had a MOM?!? Whoa.

No game ever made me cry or tear up but these 2 did make me feel sad emotionally. SR2 was brutal.

1. Saints Row 2
The entire "Save Carlos" scene. After chasing down the truck trying to save Carlos and seeing his life bar depleting. Then once you finally get to the truck and the cinema kicks in. At that point you realize Carlos was being dragged behind the truck you were chasing. He was mangled and gurlging just suffering a painful death... and you had to put him out of his misery. He was such a nice character and helped you break out of prison. Even took a shank for you. When he died and the way he die, THATS the most I have ever been effected emotionally in a video game.

2. Gears of War 3
When they killed off Dom. I already knew and guessed it would happen judging by the very first trailer for GOW3 but it was still sad. Just the entire scene and the look on Marcus' face was so sad. Then my wife which was playing as Dom said "Awww I dont get to play as Dom anymore". Not as sad as SR2 but still sad.

I've yet to cry from a game, however I did feel a fair bit of sorrow in Mafia 2.

It's the very last scene when Joe Barbaro is asked to sit in the other car and is taken away to be killed. Although for the most part Joe grated me, with his annoying humor and typical stupid behavior, the developers did make you like him some what as he does help you out of a lot of sticky situations and is always by your side.

Actually one game did make me tear up, from shear frustrations and annoyance of having spent money on it. Rage by id Software, what a pile of dung that game was.
