Gaming Burnout

The only game I regularly play any more is World of Warcraft. I had a 360, but it just sat there collecting dust. I ended up trading my 360 for a DS since I had wanted one for quite some time. Now the DS is collecting dust. I play more games on my iPhone than I do my DS. And with that said, that is my key to having an enjoyable game. Of course everyone loves a game with an engaging story that takes 80 or more hours to complete, but I find myself more and more wanting simple games that I can play for 5-20 minutes here and there and on the go.

The next engaging game I'll be buying will be The Sims 3 when it's released in June. That, World of Warcraft, and my DS and iPhone should be able to hold me over for quite some time.

If you guys really want gaming burnout, try playing Capitalism 2. Play the production campaign, not retail. It's about as big a headache as running a real business.

I'm not burned-out so much as frustrated. I love to play games, and will make time to do so, yet there are bugger-all games out there that I like. Too many games concentrate on multiplayer while people like me with a slow connection get left with the often shoddily thought out single player modes.

My PS3 gets used more as a DVD player than a games console ever since I finished GTAIV. The only game I can see myself buying in the near(?) future is GT5.

I get bored with doing the same thing over and over again, part of the reason why I play a lot of rFactor (endless modding!) and ToCA Race Driver 3.
Yet sometimes I get an urge to play a game, and play it all the time for a month, then I get bored (or stuck) and just stop, not to bring it out again until next urge.

Haven't played a game for a while now that's actually "willed" me on to finish it, which is a bit depressing, but, that's the modern world for you.

moral of the story don't play video games frequently. I get the urge to play rock band2 and brawl, but i realize it's not much fun when I play alone than I do with friends. Maybe I used to play video games a LOT and not get bored of them. After a big pause on gaming since there wasnt much to play, I felt less like a zombie hanging out in my basement. But after my family friends bought rock band 2 for their ps3, I was hooked again. Luckily though, It was their ps3 and not on my Wii. The good side is that they'd come every saturday, so I know I can ease my urge, but at the same time not indulge.

Eventually, rock band got the good of me with drumming. Bought Rock band 2 for myself on the Wii. I still play drums on my own til today I've moved up to beginner-Expert songs. It's still fun playing, as long as I ain't playing for a long duration for everyday.

Some months after Rock Band 2 I learned more about an exploit for the Wii and got hooked to installing homebrew applications (no this isn't illegal if you were wondering, but that's all I'll say about it).

Now that I play Super Smash Brothers Brawl some more I get bored a bit of it, because i've finished the story mode and finished classic with every character. All I do now is played at slightly higher difficulties and create some stages... but then on weekends family friend (who still visit just about every saturday for like the past 3-4 years?) brawl becomes more fun. even though he ain't as challenging as the AI's.

I only get small gaming burnouts once in a while.
Mostly it's just for like a week before I spot a game on my desk that I want to play again.
After 2 days I also start playing the game I got bored with a week before.

But I prefer to focus on only a couple of games for a long period of time.
A good online multiplayer that I can play with the friends I made on this site also surely helps offcourse. (mainly GT5P and CoD W@W)
Can't wait to get back to my PS3

I completely understand the situation. I have lost interest in gaming since I've been out of High School. My interests changed from games to Guitars, booze, and women. (and yes in that order  ) Times go by and people can't help but change.
