Gas Mileage: how accurate?

Is the MPG accurate enough that I could search it up online for reference? Especially in the longer races this would be useful.

Probably. But, only if you drive at the same speeds as the MPG ratings were achieved. Don't ever exceed 70MPH and half of your driving has to be at speeds less than 35MPH.

If you exceed those speeds, then the in game MPG will be lower than reported for the car.

So, I don't think you can use the MPG ratings for cars to help you determine fuel for longer races.

I don't think it is - as iamjajo already put it, first there's the issue with going at race speed instead of a real-world economy run.

Second, all cars in the game have a 100l tank - although that makes it easier for you, so you don't have to take the tank size into account to calculate the range.

Thirdly, and this is just my observation, the mileage for each car seems to be dependent on very few parameters - probably weight and speed.
I compared a few cars that should have different mileage, but the results were similar/inconclusive: Diesel does not seem to use less fuel than a comparable petrol car (120d vs. 135i) and a modern GT tourer (e.g. Mercedes SL) does not seem to use less fuel than an old US muscle car of similar weight and size.

But as I said, these were my personal tests and could be wrong.

Definitely not accurate. I used a quarter tank in my 450bhp Evo 9 around the nurburgring last month in real life where in the game I can go for ages ( and with faster speeds in game so it should be less ). As for tyres ..... Hell yeah lol new set before I went did 8 laps and needed new tyres when I got home lol
So there you have a real life comparison

Never realised the 100l tank thing so that would explain it. Evo has a 56l tank

No because I did a 200 lap race in an Enzo on Nurburgring and it STILL had some fuel left, I only needed to change the tires.

You didn't do 200 laps. Not unless you glitched, in which case it's obvious it had fuel left.

I did 200 laps. It was a friends only Nurburgring GP event...
