Just press shift+ctrl+delete and tick the ones you want to delete.

When going into Google, is there any way to erase the history you've searched for?

I've been searching for some articles on things when it comes to relationships and such, and I really want it to be confidential, if my parents start talking about it with me, that's just too embarassing (don't worry, it's not about pr0n, I just have my own questions incase of relationships and sex, we all have, right? ;))

BTW, I'm using Firefox
If your using Firefox you should be able to use Tools>Clear Private Data. You can select just to delete cookies and search history. Don't ask how or why I know this.

Someone needs to up their surreptitious porn game.

Tools>Options>Privacy>Uncheck "Remember what I type in forms and the search bar"

Aloe is the best thing I've found, honestly. You can keep trying that, or look for some arnica gel. My wife swears by that for healing bruises quickly - it seems to stimulate blood flow and the removal of damaged tissue. That might help regenerate the skin more quickly.

Aloe and Arnica is what my parents used to recommend back when I used to go out enough to get burned. :p

Now I just get spotty, so I'd rather not risk something cancerous.

Ctrl+Alt+Del is one thing, but Google stores information internally: Searches you've done, as well as the links you've clicked. It comes handy when you need to find that piece of information you looked so hard for, but it doesn't help when whoever accesses the computer can see the latest results on your search for BLANK.

To deactivate that (they probably still store that info, but at least nobody can access it):

Google homepage --> My Account --> Web History and click Pause.

You guys seriously believe it's about pornography, is it? :odd:

People being able to see what I have done on my computer is my own business, and I hate it when they start to ask: "Hey dude, why you searching for "frequently asked questions about..."

But not only this, everytime I only type one character in the search engine, a huge list pops up on the screen, I just find it irritating.

I think the fun-poking is aimed at SolidSnake15, and not you ;)

I think everyone should know how to clean up after themselves when using a web browser, for a multitude of reasons... although I have to say, the most embarrassing occassions that I can recall were usually porn-related.

For example, we had a visitor to our lab and I was trying to access an article from Science (the journal), and cleared the address bar to read just "http://www." and typed "s" and Netscape helpfully auto-filled the address bar with something rather embarrassing (the first word was "schoolgirl")... clearly my colleague didn't know anything about covering his tracks when using the web! Needless to say, it was me who had the red face (although I don't think the visitor to my lab even noticed, but I sure as hell did...) It seriously bugs me when people who share the same computer as you don't clean up after themselves...

I don't think you need any other reason than you want to maintain your own privacy - it's a very good idea to do so anyway 👍

There used to be an Internet Explorer version which showed the last 10 domains you visited when you clicked that small arrow without typing an address. When our school teacher showed that to us in class, a website by the name of porn4free came up. Became the joke of the week.

IE6, Metar, IE6. :p

Turn off Auto-Complete, if it's enabled. ;)

 This is getting rather funny

Anyway, a very different question:

August is coming up, and my girlfriend has her 18th birthday in August, so I need to get something. Now, I never plan on getting something expensive like a 1,000 dollar ring or something, but rather something creative or thoughtful, as that seemed to have larger impacts as shown by history :dopey: Aaaaanywho, I was watching this UK comedy series, and this guy recieves a large box for his birthday, he opens it and a load of balloons fly out of it with "congrats" and all of those things written on the balloons.

Now, I found this present so cool, I planned on doing the same thing, the box with the balloons, and her gift from me hidden inside.

I don't know, am I trying too hard? Or is it rather creative? I'd rather try this than paying a million zillion billion dollars on a necklace or something... You know girls, you get her something wrong, she's mad at you for a month

Balloons = really cool.

Give it time, at some point, you'll eventually not be able to do anything right either.

My GF got her mum a cool present recently where you go into town to a perfume workshop and design your own scent.

Really cool girly thing to do and it cost about £70.

They give you the recipe so you can recreate it when you run out.

Did your girlfriend see the show or did you tell her about it? If so, I'd say don't do it. You'll only look like you're copying it (which you are). If she doesn't know anything about it, then I say go for it.

I might have to try that for my wife's next "event" - hopefully the new job celebration. 👍

No I didn't :dopey:

I could always try to find something else, but I just thought this was so creative, of course I won't be the one being creative now

Pictures work awesome for girls, I took a bunch of pictures from me and Kate over the years and put them into a multiphoto frame. She loved it and it only cost me about $30. It shows that you thought of something creative and that you are showing her you enjoyed all those times together in the past. Putting that inside the balloon box probably would go over pretty good.

Joey, that's an excellent gift indeed! I really have got to remind that one

Superb idea, after rreading it. Unfortunately for myself, I can't exactly utilize it...

Why exactly is it rude to have one's elbows on a dning table during said activity?

Because elbows are evil. There's a reason God made it so we can't lick em.

j/k

If you’re at a crowded dinner table, you take up significantly more room if your elbows are on the table, which is really annoying for the people next to you. Ever been in a movie theater or lecture hall where the person next to you takes up both armrests and their elbows stick out beyond the armrest itself?

I don’t consider it rude at a roomier table, although I guess snively people with nothing better to worry about would.

Elbows on the table tend to bump things, too, shoving or flipping plates, silver, and glasses all over your neighbors or yourself. Elbows are blind and stupid.

Well I have a question regarding my MP3 files. I don't know how bad the file was or it was corrupted, but the sound quality was awful. The thing is, its not that it was bootleg or some cheap recording but the mp3 file is playing at a slower rate or speed than your average mp3. The song seems to be "slow" and laggy, but if I upped the rate in my MPC, the song was clear, but it was too fast! I have no idea how to adjust the "rate" so that the song could play at a constant speed without it being to slow or fast. I'm also sure this is not the audio quality bit rate (or whatever you called it. You know, the 44k sample rate) I'm sure its not the bit rate, but maybe the sound rate or play rate or something......

So the question is, is there a way I can edit and save the audio file so that it could play as normal? Is there any software out there which can do this? Doesn't really matter if its free or just a free trial, as long as it works it would be great! 👍

Also, if you guys want me to upload the mp3 file somewhere or want me to send it to you, just tell me. :)

Did you rip the file to mp3 yourself, or did you get it that way?

I pretty much download it from a site, to be more specific, I download it of Rapidshare as a rar file containing an album. I think the album itself was ripped from a CD or an LP. The album was really hard to come by and I just can't delete the file like that.... :guilty:

Anyways, I just downloaded WavePad a few minutes ago and I think I know how to "fix" the file. I think I have to edit the speed/pitch rate and something else to get it right. 👍 But if anybody has a tip for me or want to help out, I gladly appreciate it. :)

Audacity

It's a pretty good program, it can record sound as well as speed it up, slow it down, reverse it, etc. But for MP3's youwill have to download the:

LAME MP3 encoder

That file gives Audacity the information it needs to Import and Export MP3 files.

If you do download Audacity(and the encoder) you will need too Import the MP3 by using file>open>*mp3 file name here.* Then you will need to highlight the whole song by clicking the bar to the left of the wave pattern. This should highlight the whole song. Then you go to effect>change speed. This should bring up a window with a little bar in a window. Slide it right to speed it up and left to slow it down. You can use the Preview button to play a small portion of the song to see if it sounds right. You can decide how much you speed it up by either sliding the bar or typing a number in the percent change box.(negative for slower, positive for faster)

Hope that helps.👍

In some cases, it's because that's all that's left when the hair on top falls out.

Don't ask me why I gave that answer. . . . . .

How does a pacemaker work to regulate heart beats? My grandpa used to have one before he died of old age, I've always wondered how they worked.
