Getting a PhotoMode render to a computer...

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a PhotoMode render from the PS2 onto a computer, in the new demo? I'm sitting here without an Epson, and it won't detect my Lexmark, so I was hoping there would be some way...I've heard ideas about taking the print data and streaming it to a file to build a bitmap, like the computer emulating printer functions, but I haven't found anything that would help me do that on Google. Does anyone have ideas or knowlege that could help?

I hooked up an Epson 820 and it got all the way to the print image screen, even choosing type of paper, number of copies. Then, print error! Crap.

Any ideas if my Canon would work??? I mean Epson and Canon both have "on" in the names. Maybe that might be a consolation

Basically if you don't have one of these printers there isn't much hope of you being able to print directly from your PS2. I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to print anything from a demo, I'd save my ink and glossy paper for more cars and more locations.

Hopefully there is a way to do it with other printers. I thought that I had enough posters on my wall already, but if all works out, I'll have to start on my ceiling.

Yeap, just get a USB memory stick thing and it will let you transfer the pictures to your PC, just at the moment in the demo the option isn't avaliable.

Yippee!!! I'll look out for one. Atleast when GT4 comes out. I won't have to worry about painting my room.

It's very possible that the demo doesn't fully support printing.

They mentioned in one of the interviews/press releases that there would be some way to transfer the images directly to a computer via a USB Flash drive (something like the MAXDrive, I hope, since I have one of those).

Like so many other questions, though, we just don't know yet.. wait until the game is out.

As long as the USB Sticks work i will be very happy, i just got a 256mb stick for $10 so that will work good, plus i don't want to print all my pictures i would much rather have some nice computer backgrounds and save seom ink.

See the posting by amar212 in this https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51134&page=4&pp=20 posting. Here is the relavent text for Photo Mode.

Photo Mode
Photo Drive allows players to drive their favourite hard-won car around any track, then pause the replay at any time and take a picture of the car in action.
Photo Travel allows players to place vehicles in any of sixteen virtual tourist hotspots, including under the Brooklyn Bridge (New York), Shibuya (Tokyo) and the Piazza San Marco (Venice), and take stylised photos from any angle.
Players can apply a number of personal touches to any picture, including adjusting the focal length, applying filter effects and rotating the frame.
Photos are processed in Photo Lab where they can be saved to Memory Cards (PS2), saved to USB Flash Memory or printed out as actual photographs via a compatible USB printer. (The Epson picture mate is the recommended printer. As GT4 is the first PS2 game to support USB Flash Memory ?~@~S a shortlist of the peripherals supported will be released. This list will include the Sony Mini Vault).

It's always better topless :sly:

The GT4 will be able to use USB mem sticks? It would be great, if there will be possible to save games, hotlaps, setups etc. to the stick, not only pictures. If the game can transfer the picture data to a USB stick, why wouldn't be possible to store other types of data on it? Or at least, PD should make possibel to save more than one savegame onto one 8mb card, not force players to buy multiple cards.

No idea. I'm the only one here that plays GT (actually, I'm the only one here, period... I live alone), so that doesn't bother me so much. As long as I can save the photos to my MAXDrive, I'll be fine. It says it can write them to a USB Flash drive, which is essentially what the MAXDrive is.

I've tried putting my flash memory stick in the ps2 on the demo, but I doubt it will be able to print to it. I have a feeling that the full game may have a 'send to' option or something allong those lines. If that's true, i'll be able to create many a different wallpaper.

it is possible print with the japanese demo
but seems work only with EPSON Picturemate yet (but look great :) )

The photo mode in this game sounds similar to what NFSU2 did.
IN NFSU you can drive anywhere in the city, open your doors, hood, trunk and take a picture anywhere you want from almost any angle. :)
Im sure we wont be able to open our doors, hood in GT4 but it will still be a great feature to tak pics of your car anywhere you want.

Actually, there are some Photo Mode pics out there from PD with doors open. That'll look super-slick on the cars that have doors that open differently from the normal swing-out variety, like the Mercedes 300SL and Delorean, have gullwing doors, and the cars that have the.. er.. whatchacallit, like Lamborghini, that rotate forward vertically.

It won't take too long for someone to write a capture driver similar to the ones people use to convert Microsoft Office documents into PDF files.

Sorry 'bout the size, I'm too lazy to shrink 'em.

See, that first one's somewhere in the middle.. Not quite scissor and not quite gullwing. Had to be different, didn't they? :)

I'm gettin' me one of those Mercedes, though. :)

Excellent proof that there might be a way for us to open doors in the photo mode of the game! :) Amazing pics and wow incredible detail. I forgot about those.

The kind of doors in the first 2 photos are normally just called "Lambo" doors.

These are lambo doors

The ones on that car look more like Mclaren doors or S7 doors.

They open kinda different
