Getting a PS3 this weekend 9/26/08. Time for some questions.

Good idea, especially as they put a demo out yesterday and on the Playstation Blog the game's developer said the demo has 90 dedicated servers so that demo players don't get pwned.

CAMAROBOY69, I suggest visiting the PlayStation Store and downloading the Warhawk demo if you don't feel like renting the game just to get overwhelmed when you go to play.

Wow I hadn't heard that demo part, definately a +1 on trying out that demo, that game just gets added content very regularly so it still feels like a new game everytime I play it.

To answer the question above. My favorite game out of the ones I have rented in the first post was Heavenly Sword. I loved that game but got stuck on the guy with wings. I really want to re-rent this game and beat that guy so I can continue on with the game. That part when I was sliding down the ropes was amazing and very fun.
I also enjoyed Lair but hated being forced to use the 6 axis controller for the level with the lights and the cables I had to shoot in the valley. The character animation was the best I have seen on the PS3.
Uncharted was also very good and I will re-rent that one for sure so I can make some more progress. Very colorful game with excellent controls.
GTP5 was also a decent game that I would like to re-rent and play again.
Resistance was just ok but it was also a launch title. I would like to finish it. I think I got to level 15 or something like that.
I liked the 4th mission of MGS4 once I got past the first few minutes of it. Since I didnt play all the other games I just couldnt appreciate this game the way it was meant to be appreciated.
None of the rental stores have Warhawk. Plus if Warhawk is only online thats a problem since as I mentioned before I cant get online with the PS3 at all anymore. I think the only way I can get on now with the PS3 is if I bypass the router which really isnt an option. Never had a single problem with this new router at all until I hooked up the PS3.
I will try to find Formula 1: Championship Edition and re-rent some of the games already played since I cant find anymore exclusive titles to check out.

For the love of god would someone PLEASE quote me so this man can get his PS3 online. I'm almost 100% positive that the problem is media server, and all he has to do is turn it off...please help this man out, quote (or repeat) what I have said.

Edit: Also, isn't there an analog patch out for Lair? Pretty sure if he used that he could enjoy the game a tad more, as he wouldn't be forced to use the motion controls.

Didn't Lair get patched so you could play without using the motion sensor?

It's a shame to hear that you cannot get online on the PS3, even though people seem to say that it can't be compared to Xbox Live I think it does a good job, oh wait so THAT'S why you have to play Lair with the motion sensor:ouch:, I feel so incredibl stupid at this time, perhaps downloading a game save with the patch would be an option.

I rented and played Uncharted for a few more hours this weekend. That is such a great game. The graphics are very impressive and I really enjoyed the chases where I was the gunner on the back of the jeep. Taking the sea-do up the river was another fun level. The water looks very impressive. I like how you can see everything under the water like the rocks and concrete. The water also reacts in 3d. Just overall such a great game and reminds me a lot of Far Cry.
My Uncharted progress
Level 15
5 1/2 Hours
165 Medal points
6 Treasures

Watched Xmen 3 in BR and it was simply mind blowing in surround sound. Was one of the few movies that had 6.1 and it was a huge difference from 5.1. Easily the best audio I have heard of all the movies I have rented.

Also watched 300 in BR and watched quite a few of the special features.

I will try to get further in Heavenly Sword during this week. I updated the first post.

You are missing a few treasures. After one play through I am only missing 6. But I also spent 20+ hours on it on easy because I was looking.

It is a shame that the movie itself isn't any better.

Rented the new Indiana Jones and Enchanted in BR. Enchanted was not good at all but heather wanted to see it. We only made it through about half the movie and couldnt take it anymore.
Just started watching Indian Jones last night. Saw it in the theater but wanted to see it again in br.
COuldnt find Socom anywhere.

How does the Indiana Jones movie look? I'm going to get it but if it's just meh in Blu-Ray I save a couple bucks and get the DVD.

So far I have only seen the first 25-30 minutes in BR. The audio is good but the video hasnt been too impressive yet. It hasnt looked anywhere near as good as the other BR movies but it might get better later. Thats what I have noticed with BR movies is that some have a few really good parts and others just dont.

Will you be renting The Incredible Hulk? I heard it has an Easter egg like Iron man, same subject ;)
I dont think I will have the pS3 by the time The Incredible Hulk comes out. Planning on returning the PS3 this Friday the 17th. I bet that movie will look really really good in BR since there is so much CGI. It looked awesome in the theater.

We watched another 45 minutes of this and I want to confirm again that this is one of the worst looking movies I have seen in blu-ray. The audio is great but visually it is no better looking than a regular dvd at all. I had to keep checking to make sure they gave me a blu-ray disk. :dunce: They gave it a 4 out of 5 for the video http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/1715/indianajoneskingdomcrystalskull.html but I would only give it a 3 max for the video. I will look more time again tonight to make sure they gave me a blu-ray disk.

Alright, thanks. Blockbuster still didn't have it but I'm going to check after I get out of class tonight.

Could that be on purpose? I know some movies are purposely designed with less clarity because it pulls you away from the feel and I think an Indiana Jones movie would be one where the production team feels that way.

Or it is a case of a bad transfer.

Could be that compared to the original trilogy this movie was pants. Did you see it in the theater? I didn't like it much there.

I understand where some movies do it like 300 but 300 still looked very very good and actually looked like a blu-ray movie. The actors and everything else were still clear and very crisp.
With Indian Jones everything including the actors has an old blur feel to it. It honesly looks like a regular DVD. Nothing clear about the actors or anything else in the movie. No crisp scenes here or there at all. Its all DVD looking. Yes I saw it in the theater and it looked much better in the theater then it does on blu-ray which is odd. Usually the movies I see look much better on my HDTV then they do in the theater.

I packaged up the PS3 last night and Heather brought it back today. Got all of our $450 back from it.
Thanks for all the replies and feedback from everyone. 👍

CB69, your TV must seriously have some issues. I have Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and the quality is no where near as bad as the DVD.

But, you took it back, you have your $450, and now you can buy more of those terribly average co-op games on your 360 :)

Shame you'll miss out on R2, considering how ground breaking it is.
