some mag also has an issue of a supra with an rb26 engine...

Well whoever did that to the Supra messed it up . . . the 2JZGTE and the RB26 are really pretty much equal. They can both hold up to 600 horses on stock internals and can push upwards of over 1000. Plus taking the 2JZGTE out of the Supra is just dumb, it's a great engine.

i could have swore it was 3.2

Nope, the Supra engine is a 3.0L . . . it can be bored to a 3.2L though. I don't know how much you can bore and stroke the Supra engine though.

Well i dont want to get in to this whole big argument. So i'm going to make this short and sweet. I used to hate supras, I just never thought highly of 'em. Then 3 years ago I was at a dyno where i saw a 96 supra. During the first run it broke the chains that where holding it to the dyno. During the second run it stayed on, after spinning the tires on the dyno drum in fifth gear the results popped up on the computer screen. 984 rwhp.
I am now a big fan of the supra.

The Supra engine (2JZGTE) can make ridiculous power. I've seen I don't know how many of them with over 1000 horses to the flywheel, and many with over 1000 to the rear wheels.

And Titan Motorsports in Florida has a Supra that can do
high 8's in the 1/4 mile and is street legal still!

Ok, before I start this, to avoid any flames:

I own a Toyota MR2, I'm in a Toyota club and I webmaster an MR2 Owners club website.

About the Supra turbo. There is no way they run a sub 10 on the 1/4 with street tires. It's just not possible. I know a local guy who has a 700 HP MK4 Supra (as well as most of the Supra tuners). He runs a very low 10 on slicks. Once he puts on his street tires he has major traction issues and runs a high 12. All of these "Street legal" Supra's you see, are street legal. Big deal. There are minimal things that are required for a car to be street legal. One of them is tires. If you ever see a Supra running sub 10s on the 1/4, they're obviously not on street tires. Using slicks on the road is illegal. And alot of people with those Supra's lie and have open exhaust - which is also illegal. However, for the most part, they are legal, and have a full interior. I guess you can say that when they run a sub 10 they are no longer street legal... not until they put back on the street tires.

Onto the motors. The 2JZGTE is a turbo monster that is put in the stock Supra. It is not a widely used racing motor. Toyota uses ALOT of 4-bangers for racing because they can tune them to spec (Toyota has some damn good engineers) to run with much larger engines. They have a 97 cubic inch motor called the 4AGE which is capable of 400 RWHP and can come equipped with a 20 Valve Head. That motor is actually used in the AE86. They stopped making the 4AGE in 2000, after using it for nearly 20 years. Now they're more commonly used racing motors are the 3SGE/5SFE/3SGTE which all use the same block. The 5S is a 2.2 litre using the same block, but a different bore and stock. The 3S is a non turbo 3SGTE, but is still powerful for a 2.0. And the 3SGTE is a VERY powerful combination of displacement and power. There are people tuning 600 RWHP on the stock block in the SW20 MR2s and running high 10s on STREET TIRES. (Of course MR2s dont have traction problems.). I don't know where I'm going with this information... maybe it's that the Supra isn't underrated in this game - it's just where it should be. A great and relatively cheap platform for tuning.

Also, someone said it was called the SW20 3SGTE. It's actually just the 3SGTE, SW20 is the model designation for the 90-99 MR2. Someone also said Skyline's cost $90,000. They don't.

You live in Oklahoma dude, we have a lot worse problems here than a car running straight pipes. Who cares if they are anyways? I really don't, I'm tired of all this tree hugger bull ****. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: BTW, if you were to import a Skyline from Japan, it would cost somewhere around 90 grand total to make it street legal in the US. Look at MotoRex's website, they are biggest importer of Skyline's to the US. The only way it wouldn't cost that, would be to buy one in Japan, or buy one that is already street legal in the US, from say eBay . . . yes, they are on there, I'm seen about 5 or 6.
