Getting rid of old Visitor Messages for good?

It's very possible that there is no way for this, or at least I have yet to find it. How can I get rid of old messages, and I mean really get rid of them, without the "This message has been deleted by" leftovers? I've had my entire Visitor Message board disabled for a good while now because I simply can't make it look tidy by only keeping the messages I want. Which is a bit odd since one would think I "own" the messages I receive, at least in a way.

Don't worry, you (and the moderators) are the only ones who can see those "leftovers". No message is ever really deleted here, it's just removed from public view. Thanks for the well wishes and merry Christmas to you too! It'd be great to spend the holiday in such a snowy place.

When I was in Louisville last year it was pretty snowy, and ice covering everything also. I was there the week the ice storm hit working, that was fun
