Which should i buy?

Make it useful then, George.

Seriously, some more information wouldn't go amiss. What do you need the car for? A specific race/set of races or just for fun? What are you looking for out of your car?

Mods don't lock threads for nothing. If yours are being locked regularly, you should ask yourself if you're doing everything right.

For general racing, I'd recommend the Vertigo - not a good car, but with a better drivability than the Chapparal.

You may actually answer better than that.

How old are you? You know that simplifying things like "Who was the best driver ever - Senna or Schumi" is NOT a proper way to get a decent answer.

A better car on what? Speed? Handling? Noise? Balance? Fun?

I think my Fully Tuned Blaster Master über-maxibest Isuzu Piazza is the best (after AE86, oc) for handling.

This is my answer and you WILL NOT adopt the XE as your car. You know why? Because it seems that you bought your game yesterday and don't even know WHAT the game is and have not suffered to earn licenses, break records, fine tune your automobiles. Probably you downloaded cheat codes, inserted thousands of zillions of 6,02 x 10^23 currencies in your GT4 and now is asking us what is the better car.

Please, George Morley, CHOOSE IT. Buy both. Make endurances. EARN the knowledge yourself.

You will be a worse player if you don't. But a kick-ass toptimer if you stop, breathe, READ and PLAY.

Tell us your experience later.

Ps MODS dont lock this thread :grumpy:
There has been a reason why they have been locking them. Alot of the times when I have the need to know wich car to use, IM someone on AIM or whatever you have. I am a open person to ask. And i'm sure everyone elese is. If not just give me a IM and i'll be happy to awnser it. On the question i wouldn't know cause i have only used the Gillet, so i really don't know what the Chap is like.

I'd recommned getting the Gillet and not the Chapparel. First the Chapparel is crap :yuck: and handles like garbage and has like 3-4 gears. Second the Gillet is way better looking  and way faster than that "box" on wheels.

But my advice to you would be go with what YOU think is better in performance, style, handling, etc and the choice you make will be on your opinion and not the opinion of others. Hope this helps ya in deciding which car to pick for general racing

If I'm remembering right and the 2J is the one with the fans to help it stick the the road, the 2J will hammer the Vertigo on any track by a large margin. It's much faster round corners, it also is possibly the fastest car on the wet Tsukuba races bar none.

The Vertigo has the looks, and for 1 mill it's not a bad price for it, but the 2J is the better performer despite only having 4 gears.

I prefer the Gillet, it's Belgian :sly: , good looking, nice sound, blast through the straits (but not so well in the corners  )

I remember preffering the D over the J. Was it really that good? I seem to rememer spinning out an awful lot with it.

Why are these two cars being compared anyway. I'm sure there are much better cars you can buy with the money? I haven't tried the Vertigo in GT4, mainly because it was so awful in GT3.

They don't do thing better the things that they can't do.

Say wha?? :odd:

I wonder if the thread starter is ever going to contribute anything to this thread again. :odd:

I prefer the D as well, mainly because imo it has more character and it looks a lot nicer. The 2J is a tremendously quick car for it's age and can compete in the GT World championship, it's also as I said, the fastest car on the wet races.

take the gillet. better beginner car and good versatility for the price

Must have one of those Dodge Chargers then?
OT, I like the 2J but I'm sure the engine sound is from the Benz Motor Wagon but made more bassy?

Personally I think the Gillet is ugly as a horse's rear end. The 2J looks like a toaster with jet engines.
I'd choose the 2J just for the Test Course races.

*Snap* see post 5

Chill out m8:odd: Is it that important to you?

I think the Vertigo is an obvious choice over the Chapparal, but although the chapparal looks weard, it's pretty darn fast and it actually HANDLES, it handles better than I thought when I tried it out.

Sorry i was offline for a bit,
It seems more people are reccomending the vertigo, so thats probaly what I'll
buy, using the extra 200,000 left that the 2j would off cost on modding it.

I'm going to buy the 2j also when i get round to it.

Stop over-reacting.

SHEESH :scared:

Dont mind him m8...he wants to act smart or something:rolleyes:
I found the cheaper Chapparal to be very good too, meaning it would still be a competition for the Gillet.

Let me just tell you this, a fully modded Vertigo still doesn't hold a candle to the 2J performance wise. It's not as competitive in as many races either including the big ones like the GT World championship, GT All stars and so on.

Ok thanks, I'm still thinking even though now both cars are in equal competition

The jet car has 3 gears, not 4. Really want to go fast? Get a custom tranny. I love that car, and the idea of it sucking itself down to the ground...

I dont see how only 3 gears slow it down since they are all streched out so much . . .

With gears of that enormous length, it's hard to keep the engine in its optimal rev band. Six gears work much better there.

The 2J does it well enough, it's faster than the Vertigo in every way, acceleration, cornering, braking. It's not even close, it smokes the Vertigo.

I like the Vertigo. the Chaparrals, especially with a fully modded engine, are frustrating to drive thanks to the three-speed. You can find yourself without torque at the least oppurtune time. Even the GT40 has more gears. The "J", though, does make a TON of Downforce...but if we're gonna have a "Fan Car," Let's bring the controversial Brabham F1 Fan Car instead.

The Vertigo is probably a better car to learn on. It's more conventional, doesn't have the quirks of the Chaparrals.

However, if you have the money, get one of the "Group C" cars. Fastest in the game. period. The JGTC GT500 cars are also good when you give them full mods: They're even faster than the Vertigo, thanks to big wings
