Oh, back to the tyre topic, sometimes an earlier pit stop lets you undercut the people you're likely to battle for position with. You'll risk the performance dropping off and the later stoppers may close you up towards the end, but you may gain 2-3 seconds by the time they pit, and you may even have some clean air to really grind out some consistent times.
