Not sure whether to use my more aggressive setup, which nets 32s pretty easily but uses the tyres in about 4/5 laps, or use a more mild mannered one, which runs consistent 33s and struggles to break a 32 but tyres last about 8/9 laps. :boggled:

Just don't hit the walls at any point and you'll win with any setup :dopey:

Well that's a no brainier really! :sly:

But with the less aggressive one I can't get 32s, with the aggressive one I could run at 70% and get 33s and then have the ability to turn it up a notch if I need to. But then if I try and pace myself I just end up making a ton of mistakes. :ouch:

Well your only 1sec quicker so is it worth doing a 3 stopper just to gain 1sec per lap? 💡

Yup, did quite a few high 32s on the tyre saver setup (32.704 best) so I'll definitely be going with that, despite the fact that it's around .3 slower. 👍

So how many laps is Monaco? 30 laps I'm assuming if there's potentially 3 stops...

Are you guys saying that you hit 33's for nine laps then stop, or you hit 9 laps and your tyres are COMPLETELY GONE!?

I would assume it's more like 23/4 laps. :boggled:

Tyres are gone after about 9 laps (i.e. the car is wither undriveable or a good 2 seconds slower than it should be). I'm doing 32s/33s for about 5 laps and then down to 34s/35s until about lap 10/11 going full throttle. If I hold back a bit I can probably get 33s for about 8/9 laps. 👍

I don't think I hit 1:35's until after 12 laps, 1:33's and 1:34's with one or two high 1:32's thrown in.

Yeah, sounds about right actually, John. I was going to work it out, but that estimate sounds about right for the allotted race time.

Wow, I like thinking about strategy, but the more I try to think of ways to tactically take on this track, the more my brain keeps telling me to wing it. Ideally though, with enough consistency and pace, anyone who can get a clean track ahead of them after their pit stop can carve a good 3-4 seconds out of anyone pitting after them, especially given how fiercely the top 4 places are contested. Fighting for position alone will cost you a couple seconds here.

If you lead, don't hit a wall, drive a defensive line..............you win I guess.

Erm, not exactly. The first two bits are right, but I reckon anyone who can break away from a fighting pack behind them will have a good chance of winning.

See, if you're having a defensive line it means you're going to sacrifice a little bit of time, even though you probably don't have many chances to pass either way on a track like this. All it takes is a guy behind you hanging back from whoever you're having to take defensive lines for... pit one lap earlier, slap on fresh tyres and hope for a clean outlap, and their little game of leapfrog is over once you pit. Thing I notice in races as a whole, people tend to follow each other into the pits so not to lose out, but here you're going to stack like crazy, which slows pit stops down.
