you can even import your hotmail list, just save the list you're using under your hotmail account, and open it once you're logged in through your gmail account.

Yes, I know that. I've been telling people about that for some time, but I know some people won't re-add me on my Gmail for various reasons.

Also, you can get pop-ups whenever an email comes in through Gmail.

Google search for "Gmail Notifier". I've been using it for weeks, and I love it. I recommend it to anyone who would like notification of new emails.
