I saw some X800gto for around that price too. Next time, post this in the computer sectionROAD_DOGG33JFrom looking at newegg.com, the best bang-for-your-buck is the x1600 Pro, but the cheapest one goes for ~$124 with shipping. For ~$103 with shipping there is the x1300, but it doesn't really have the performance.
Installation is pretty easy. Just look up a guide and you will know what to do.
Well it doesn't require much to play CSS, and DOD. My friend used to play it on a very old Nvidea card. Like 5-6 years old. And i know someone elese who used a crappy Intel Graphics card. So your options are how much your willing to spend. around $100 you can get a ATi Radion 9600SE (my old card) wich easly can play the Source, and HDR engines.KrameCould you guys suggest some AGP video cards that I could buy for around $100. I'll only be playing day of defeat/CS and battlefield 2. I still kind a noob at this stuff, so how hard is it to install myself.
Evo7GTAInstallations pretty easy. Usually its just a case where you unplug your computer, open up the case, take the old video card out of the AGP slot (thats the brown slot) put in the new video card, boot up and install the drivers. Oh, just in case you didn't know, if you buy an 8x AGP card it wont work in an AGP slot which can only support 2x or 4x.
RobcioPLIf you switched to the X1600, the difference will be minimal. If switching to the X800gto, the difference will be bigger. The GTO is a major overclocker![]()
DQuaNIt will only cost about £200 to get my current pc to where i want it. It will be kept as a second pc in a couple of years because it should still kick pretty strongly.
By the time Vista comes out my Athlon64 3200+ might struggle a tiny bit. The biggest problem however, will be that my motherboard is not PCI-E.
I will probably have to build a new pc from the ground up for vista. In the mean time i'll spend a little bit here and there on my current pc to keep it going with the best of them.
DQuaNEven though the x1600 has 512mb?
Mr DeapThe cost for a PCI-E motherboard & all will be the same as what you will spend for the graphic card. You still have keyboard, screen, mouse, box, supply & keyboard.
RobcioPLTHe extra 256mb wont help much considering the card is pretty slow compared to the X800.
