I'm curious what are good times for fully modified LMP cars on the Sarthe

I Raced online today with the Minolta and the Peugeot 908. I ran 1:17 with the Peugeot and Minolta 1:12 (no aids except abs). I still lost because everyone in the room ran with srf on.

i had racing softs on, but the fastest time someone had was 3.03 with srf on. I lost every single game because of this.

2005/2009, chicanes/no chicanes and tyre wear/no tyre wear, that all makes a difference. Nobody will be able to tell you what good times are without that information.

3:12.1xx, 2009 with chicanes with pens on, fully modded 908, no tire wear. Only ABS 1

If you can run laps of 1:17 and people are beating you running laps of 3:03....somethings not adding up. I seriously doubt you're running 1:17's....at all.

On a wheel I was averaging 3:21 on tire stints in the 908 with wear on, great car for extending the life of the tires. On controller with a dead wheel, I can't even keep the damn thing straight. Thumbs aren't suited for that kind of modulation and the porpoising associated with stick modulation just doesn't cut it with that kind of power and throttle response. For me.

So would my time be decent with a controller

That depends on your skill level. I just don't have the required skill set to manage such a car with the controller because I started with a wheel. I wanted to throw my times out there as something you might be up against when racing online.

ok

I usually never run any aides, but I was always happy if I got below 3:20, so yeah, you're doing well. With SRF and TSC on I was managing times around 3:10.

3:12 with Audi R8, R92CP, and GT-One. 3:16/17 with the 908. 3:19 with the R10. I've seen some people get under 3:10 without aids though. It really depends on which car you are using.

Not really a relevant time (for the fact that it's on hard tyres), or perfect lines for that matter, but it's my best lap at Sarthe.

Are you using aids?

The description for the actual youtube video lists all the conditions for this run, which are:

Car unmodified apart from high pressure turbo.
Tyre wear enabled.
Racing Hard tyres.
No aids.
No ABS
G25 Clutch and shifter.

Well I got 3:19.804 with stock 908. All aids off except ABS on 1, and racing softs.

Fully modded should be around 4 seconds faster and with SRF around 8 seconds faster.

Just want to share. It may be slow but my TDI diesel '03 Pajero gets this for about 4 minutes, all aids off except for ABS at 1 and it ran with Racing Hard tires, not to mention it also weighs 1496kg, another reason for getting that lap time.

Why not look at the real times?

A 908 did 3:19 DURING QUALIFYING. It's the second fastest lap time ever recorded (by hundredths of a second). And that's including times without the chicanes.

Anyone doing below 3:30 either needs to get their arse to Le Mans and sign up for next years race, or is cheating.

A sane laptime for a modern prototype is about 3:40. And that's only if you're really good at driving, and in good conditions.

GTs run about 4:10 these days. Just below 4 minutes when they had GT1 monsters.

You have to take into account 3 things.
1. Turbo: most of the times here are with the extra turbo equipped to give the cars a lot more HP
2. Tires: we don't know why tires are closest to real life.
3. Physics: Physics in any game or sim(right now anyway) are never absolutely 100% accurate
So your saying that anyone doing below 3:30 is cheating?
(My best time is 3:11 with the Audi R8 '01 with racing softs and the extra turbo, with chicains, no cutting.

Yup! everyone knows the default cars are too powerful. Except you?

I'd bother telling you about how the real 908 already had 2 huge aircraft grade turbos, and that fitting anything bigger would just destroy the engine and discuss the other things, but ... actually I can't.

Get real, or get lost :)
