I randomly switch between cockpit and chase views depending on how I feel. The roof/hood cam or whatever is kinda neat, but I never use it. I also never use the bumper cam.
Unless the server specifies roof or chase cam, I won't be on those servers. Sorry.![]()
I think this is just a purists view in my opinion, each to his own I say. If a driver is good enough driver does it really matter which view point someone prefers. I personally do quite like the cockpit view my self, in addition I also like the bumper cam youre not a fan of (remember this was the staple viewpoint for GT1-4). I personally hate the chase view as I think the car looks like it wiggles around like a whale, but I am sure there are guys who love it.
Sorry I mean faster lap times, to me bumper always feel faster because you can view more road and more close, like driving a kart or motorbike.I agree with you , the Cockpit view looks faster than Bumper ,
the speed of views in order are:
1st Cockpit
2nd Roof
3rd Bumper
4th Chase
but well , the sense of speed in GT anyway not the best. They need to fix it![]()

The recreation of speed in Gran Turismo is about spot on. It seems slow compared to other games because they hype the speeds. I couldn't believe it in GTR Evo when I was leaving pit lane at about 45mph (60kmh?), and the lane was flying past like I was doing 80! 45mph is sloooooow. If you drive, take some time to watch your surroundings. Anything less than 100mph seems like I'm just cruising. I can watch details in the road coming at me at highway speeds at my leisure.

I'm sorry, but I bet many people are willing to say you are out of your mind if bumper cam is realistic compared to Cockpit view. It may not be perfect, but at least you can see the steering wheel, something that you obviously can't in bumper cam, which is a place where the driver is not even located![]()
actually, I can see the steering wheel in the bumper cam view. Unfortunately, I see two steering wheels in cockpit view. How is that realistic?
I don't understand the people who say they see "two wheels" or "two sets of hands"
In my years with wheels, I never ever had any problem like that, and I've had wheels at various heights and distances from the screen. Maybe because I'm focusing on the screen, and not the wheel?
Cockpit view is by far the most realistic and engaging view possible. Bumper cam may artificially give you more peripheral vision, but it detaches you from the car and takes away from the simulation experience.
I think the main problem is too many people are just not willing to put in the time it takes to get use to the cockpit view because it appears daunting. It's alot easier then it looks.
I did some testing, I went to different turns and switched from cockpit view to bumper cam going through them and there was almost always no difference in visibility. Only difference was cockpit view had a 3-D cockpit appear on your screen while bumper cam had silly floating gauges. Visibility through 75%+ of the turns was not hurt in cockpit view.
When I started playing GT5P I made a vow to only use the cockpit view, and boy it has paid off. I have zero problems in traffic and I don't lose that much time to those who use views that let you see more or further up the road.
EDIT: And this is driving from the backseat. GT5P cockpit views look nothing like this
What is there not to understand. You don't have two wheels when you are driving in real life. I don't even look at the wheel in my car when I drive, I look at the road. To me having an extra wheel in the picture is annoying and totally unrealistic.
While the bumper cam view isn't realistic either, at least I can imagine that the screen is my windshield.
The wheel is not part of the game. The wheel in the cockpit cam is part of the game. If I recall correctly, it's not obligatory to buy a wheel along with the game. I know what you will probably say. The wheel adds a better overall experience to the game. So does the cockpit cam.
A very unrealistic windshield, for that matter. Why not imagine then that the wheel is not there?
Honestly, people complain (I'm not talking about you, just in general) about things the game lacks. Then, when the game has it, they complain about how badly implemented they are. Therefore, the game would be much better if it had tons of cars, tons of tracks, and nothing else for people to complain.![]()
