.. the title fully developed by Microsoft Game Studios, direct subsidiary of Microsoft.

Forza Motorsport is direct challenger of Gran Turismo 4, and it will be released this winter.

Here is a press-release:

------------

Title: "Forza MotorsportTM"

Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios

Developer: Microsoft Game Studios

Format: DVD for the Microsoft¨ Xbox¨ video game system

ESRB Rating: "RP" for Rating Pending

Availability: Winter 2005 (Worldwide)

Product Overview:

"Forza Motorsport" gives Xbox gamers who are passionate about cars and racing the opportunity to own, customize, and race their favorite cars in a realistic driving simulation. From sport compacts to LeMans prototypes, players use earnings from hundreds of races to buy upgrades and aftermarket parts so they can transform real production cars into high-performance race cars. On the track, players experience an impressively accurate simulation, putting their performance-tuned creations to the test against the best the online world has to offer on Xbox LiveTM.

Key Features:

Make Every Car Yours. Collect models from over 60 top manufacturers like Mazda, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, and Dodge. Trick out sport compacts with real-world body kits, rims, spoilers, decals, side skirts, fender flares and hood scoops, or add motorsport decals and team paint-schemes to supercars, GT racers and exotics. Transform production cars into racetrack monsters.

Tune It Up. Take your car to the garage and install alternative engines, suspension kits, bolt-on superchargers, brakes, rims, racing slicks and more. Fine-tune gear ratios, fuel-mapping, forced induction pressure, tire temperature & pressure and ignition timing for the ultimate setup.

Experience the Most Technically Advanced Driving Simulation on Xbox. Top automotive engineers teamed with experienced programmers to create an advanced physics engine for "Forza Motorsport" that simulates authentic car performance. Cars incur damage and wear, which affects car performance. Advanced tire and suspension models respond to heat and pressure changes as well as weight transfer and aerodynamic load.

Drive in Gorgeous Track Environments. From the famously challenging Nurburgring Nordschleife to the spectator-lined streets of Rio de Janeiro, race on meticulously-designed tracks with an incredible sense of speed and realism.

An AI Revolution: DrivatarTM Technology. Train your own AI "Drivatars" to use the same racing techniques you do so they can race for you in competitions or train new drivers on your team. "Drivatar" technology is the foundation of the human-like AI in Forza Motorsport.

Online Racing Goes to the Next Level. From intense multiplayer wheel-to-wheel racing to challenging individual bests and beyond, Forza Motorsport's Xbox Live gameplay will deliver innovations that reinvent the online racing experience.

A Graphical Showcase on the Most Powerful Console. Well-balanced reflections, lighting and shadows tie together highly-detailed cars and smooth-edged environments. Camera effects like blooming, lens flare, heat shimmer, light rays, depth of field, and haze create TV-quality presentation. Unique road textures, surface irregularities, persistent oil and skid marks, and scraped walls deliver an incredible sense of speed.

-----------

As it can be seen, Porsche and Ferrari are two major car-brands in the game. So, what will it do for the GT4 remains to be seen in next couple of hours, untill the big Sony's press-conference nad oficial start of PS2 presence on E3.

Pictures of Forza Motorsport can be found all over the internet right now.

The car models don't look all that, the ones in GTR look better.
Hmm, hmm, hmm.

It will be interesting to see how good it is. I for one am looking forwards to it, there is no reason why it can't be as good as GT4 game play wise.

Cars models seem ok, the one near the bottom is very good.

Toyota GT-ONE there certainly looks bar, looks like Le Mans on the PS1. Is that Laguna Seca too?

They do raise one issue I'd considere - tyre temperature and pressure. I was going to seach and see if anyone had mentioned this, because both make a big difference to grip levels, so being able to tune them would be pretty cool. Ignition timing, don't know a thing about it so I can't say. Fuel mapping either really, I've heard bits and pieces. I don't own an Xbox and have no intention of buying one so I won't mind whatever happens. It's got promise, but so have many a Microsoft development with such a broad, sweeping PR release.

Well, it seems good, but two things will decide wether I get it: Getting an XBox and paying for Xbox Live. So far, with PS2 'net access being free, and GT4 already having an incredible fan base, and the fact that I have a ps2, it seems that I'll have to go with GT4. But I'm not complaining. :D

Xbox is free to play online, all you need is xbox connect (free software), a pc, and a hub.

PS2's net isn't exactly free, you have to buy the adaptor ;)

It looks promising, with the PGR2 team behind it there's potential. We'll have to wait and see if it turns out good and if this also means MS will finally get decent wheel support (FF) for the Xbox out there. With GTR2003 also in the cars for Xbox, that's becoming a bit of a must ... !

Collect models from over 60 top manufacturers doesn't mean 60 cars, code_kev. That just depends on how many models the game will have from each car manufactorer. PGR2 already had something like 10 ferrari's alone and I don't think this game will have less cars than PGR2.

Sounds like it's got a lot of the modifications that people were/are looking for in GT4. Aerokits, engine transplants etc. Looks pretty cool.

I read some where that it wouldn't have as many as GT4, I forget where. I didn't miss read the 60 car manufacturers as 60 cars :)

Still, the list of upgrades you can do on the car does indeed wet my appitite, sigh another racing game I have to buy lol, how am I gonna fit them all in.

I'm shocked with the quality of the graphics, on the environment department. Very nice job.

The car models look ok, but nothing impressive though.

Looks ok i suppose. The asphalt textures are great and the features are impressive but it won't make me buy an xbox.

the xbox is better value then a ps2 if you ask me, it's cheaper, built in net adaptor, HDD, 4 joy pad ports etc
no it really isn't - do u prefer a console that has better specs/features or the one that has better games?

yes, halo is crap, as is panzer orta, and knights of the old republic. What a pile of crap, and lets not even mention ninja gaiden, PAH! CRAP CRAP

And halo 2, ralli sport 2, fable, SC2, doa4 all cack!

Cobra, i agree, GT4's graphic style is deff more realistic.

You got it right code_kev Just leave out the Ninja Gaiden and SC2 and you've got the worst list of games ever. For every game on that list, there's a better one on the PS2. Halo just plainly sucks arse (both)

Don't mock me. There is no realism in PGR2, apart from the look of the cars. Even the specs are mostly wrong. Like they didn't do their homework or something.

I mock you because you are retarded enough not to realise PGR2 was an arcade game rofl. PGR2 is a great game, something you won't accept because your a fanboy. Looks like YOU didn't do your home work :P

"ugh I don't like outrun because it's unrealistic, DUH HYUK!"

Dev zero, your one of these people who can't accept the fact that other consoles, consoles you don't own, actually have good games too, because your too bloody stupid. Me? I love both my machines, I wouldn't part with either.
