Greenawalt: Everyone talks about A.I. in racing games. Rather than spitting out features, let me simply frame our approach and let you draw your own conclusions. You know when I was saying that weve assembled a team of all-stars? I wasnt kidding. We actually have several high-level developers working on our A.I. alone. Our main A.I. developer is new to games, but incredibly experienced in A.I. Hes a PhD A.I. developer from Microsofts research division. In the past, hes worked on robots and learning A.I. systems. Hes teaming with our research division in Cambridge, England, to approach A.I. from a completely different angle.
Its really cool to see a group approaching this problem from a completely new angle. Rather than giving the A.I. different car physics, a predestined spline, and random seed to mix it up, these guys are creating thinking A.I. that drive Forza Motorsports remarkably complex physics engine. Even our A.I. difficulty levels are based on learning artificial intelligence. Lower-difficulty A.I. makes human-like mistakes, such as late braking and late apex-ing.
Finally someone who thinks the same, I too own both consoles and Racing/Driving games are my passion. Any game that features cars I am there so this game is surely going on my "to play" list. But honestly GT started my love for racing/driving games and I am sure it will end it which I doubt will happen. Lets just take this game for what it is and stop comparing it to GT because GT is known whereas this new game is fresh and no one really knows mucha bout how good it will actually be.Originally posted by JHOVA1029
I bought both, PS2 and Xbox, and I could not be happier with my decision. I love both systems the same and try to defend them when they are being put down by PS2 lovers or Xbox whores. I love racing games and to me, both have some GREAT games. Naturaly, there will NEVER be a racing game better than the GT series, but I do love PGR2. Its just fun. Now if Sony didnt screw up their online plan I can tell you that I would not have bought an Xbox.
It turns out that the game won't support any force-feedback wheel, just a rumble feedback. When the guy hears this, he gets all huffy and then leaves...go figure.
ur talking about Forza, right?Originally posted by jizzmirk
I was waiting in line to play this game and the guy in front of me was a little too wired to be deemed normal. So he ends up talking to on the X-box reps asking about the wheels being used for the game.

God I hate IGN and GameSpy and their intrusive advertising styles.
Forza Motorsport is indeed a name I've heard in use before, not relating to the game. Judging by the images I've seen, I'd say the polygon count would be higher, but the models still don't look right, and it doesn't matter how many triangles you have if the texture sitting on them isn't good. As for higher resolution, we're playing on a television set here...
As redhed17 said, they're making all the usual promises. We wait to see what they actually deliver. I've heard far too many PR reels about incredible realism, fantasic AI and so on.
As a side note, MGS is no longer a Sony exclusive, neither is Final Fantasy, nor are some of the Xbox titles listed.

force feedback is immensely overrated. In fact, most sim racers will tell you to steer clear of them (unless they are "sim" racers that only play console games which are not sims to the truest extent). I would take a good natural-feeling spring-based wheel anyday over a fake, toy-like and overly exagerated ff wheel. getting faster laps is torture with ff wheels, as inconsistent as they are.
