Im currently saving up for one... so it is really worth it? I want it to be able to do well online but this 80's brake thing is worrying me!

Unless you're more than a little above average talented, I don't think this car, w. Pro Physics and no aids, will be very succesful online - compared to newer models, I'm guessing it'll get a run for it's money..

It is massives good fun OTOH, and should you be able to annoy some of the pesky Elises with it would definitely bring some    's from here ! .-)

Well, if you want to "finnish" the game, you'd better go and buy it, because you wont be able to complete Stage S without it. Just go buy it, it's a hell of a car, massive fun, learn to drive it and you'll be able to finnish online races, now winning is a whole other ballgame, unless there will be 80's events online... YES that's an idea!!!

I'm saving for one now, as it is required for one of the S events anyway. I'm looking forward to trying to keep control of it with zero TCS on Pro. I've no expectations of anything other than 16th place for my first several attempts, but that doesn't mean it is a POS, for me I just need to try and be more delicate and progressive with my thumbs (using sixaxis).

It's certainly a handful but I like it, perhaps because as a pup it was by far my most favoritest car ever. :) Compared to the Ford GTs on the other hand it's quite nimble and obedient.

zodicus I bet you're on standard physics :) I know what you mean. Try it on simulation physics though. It'll be damn hard to drive, but I bet that if you get the hang of it you can drive it pretty fast. No understeer at all at least

I love F40, its look, its accuracy, its sound, all fantastic. Standard gearing is horribly multiplying its turbo lag, but it's one and only beauty-spot easily cured by quick tune feature. I hate only the fact all the races are built for standard physics and not pro. It would be nice to see all those opponents fighting with power the same way as you have to and it will be so rewarding to achieve gold!

I have recently obtained the F40 and have used nothing else since. I love driving it no matter what, even getting hammered online by Elise's is fun!

I'm interested to know if people have any tips for tuning it. I've fiddled with the Toe in and the Ratios obviously, to get something that feels good to me, but I don't think its quite optimum. Any thoughts?

The-BNA I did have it on sim, I try to do every event in sim. So far I've only got stuck on the S class races.

IDK after trying to push some of the other cars in the game really hard and after readding all these post I was prob just entering the corners to fast. Some day when I get the money saved up I'll buy it again and give it another shot.

As this is about the F40 and using only plain english, has anyone got a good setting for the F40 S race!? Mr P where are you?!!! Maybe this is not the right place to post this but hey................
Cheers,
nige

Got 3rd place on 3rd try with these settings:
Ride Height 0/0
Spring Rate 2/2
Damper 1/1
Toe out/in +0.37/-0.37
Camber 2.5/2.0
Brake Balance 6/5
Max Turning Angle 38
Traction Control 2
ABS 1
Final Gear 3.718

i have yet to drive it but i also know what to expect from 80's brakes.

The problem is not the brakes.

PD simply got the spec of this car so wrong it is not even funny
. The car bascially is 252kg heavier than it really is in the game. :ouch:

Did they know about this, yes. Cause the showroom weight and the QTS weight clearly didn't match.

Will they ever fix this, that would be my question. :grumpy:

Heya Guys!

Had a previous Username, but had to ReRegister, as it kept playing up lol!

For me, up til now, the Amuse S2000 has done the job for me, just regear it accordingly and its a Beast...(^_^*)

I think you are confused.

Are you telling me the 1352kg US spec is the light weight version? or the 1100 kg is the light weight version?

Cause I know for a fact that the 1100 kg is the normal production version sold around the world except for US.
Yes you're right but the F40 on Prologue would be even lighter than the 1100 kg normal car.

What's the weight on the QTS? maybe it's a typo on the description.

It's a light weight version, no A/C, plexi glass sliding windows, etc..

Very confused, the link is to a model and it's a model of an F40 prototype, not the production version.

I put the link because the description.

-US Spec: (weight = 1352 Kg)

Same doors as F40 LM:

Ferrari F40 is true old school muscle. You get all the power, speed, grip etc but you alone are to provide control. Scary but immensly enjoyable car. Hard to control but rocket when treated right.
Truly separates drivers from driven ones. Alas i fall into later category but still have fun with it.

This is the prototype. This is not the production car.

The prototype has plexi side window, a different rear plexi cover and five louvers at the back, painted interior door panels, 400lbs lighter than the production version and it had around 600hp. This is why I am saying PD totally got the car wrong.....Visually the car is mess up in game and specwise its all screwed up.

What is in the game is suppose to be the 1100 kg "production" F40, not the prototype and not the US spec car.

I race with the Ferrari 512 online at the HSR on expert.....644pp maxed Love that car and yes it's a handfull but although it wont stand up against the 111rs (what dose? LOL)it usualy finishes mid field! I'm just saving up for the F40 now as I've had some good battles with the F40 and I expect it to have a little more power than the 1976 512 beasty LOL

Seems one of the first production models not a prototype.

From soptom's link:
Each F40 prototype differed in detail from the others, but there are visual differences from the later production F40s. Prototype tail sections have five louvers on each side underneath the spoiler, while the street cars have only four.

Five rear side vents on each side are consistent with prototype form, and the Plexiglas rear engine cover has twenty small slots, as opposed to just eleven larger ones on the standard cars.

The doors sport Lexan side windows with sliding vents, as did the first fifty or so of the production models before customer complaints caused Ferrari to switch to heavier glass roll-ups.

Well after 2 days of heavy online racing I got the 450,000 credits and went and grabed the F40.........wow! what a car! Sounds right, looks right and the way it squirms about under power in the twistys but with a good set of R2 tires it never bites you back, well not unless you give it to much LOL

Note sure if this is the right place but what times are you guys getting around fugi f with the F40?

At the moment i'm at 1,55.3 but i should be able to get it down another second or so tonight.

Hmm I can feel a GT planet time trial coming on! how dose F40 on Fuji, HSR or suzuka sound? and maybe one for a FWD and a 4WD car run at the same time? any takers? If theres a few I'll start a new thread for names and track choices? Right back to the F40 drooling thread LOL

I ran the F40 last night to gain the super license. After a bit of tuning I managed a 1st place with a few seconds up my sleeve. Great car, great to drive.
Im also up for any event someone puts on.
How do you change your user name which appears online?
Any help would be great

cheers

I will give these settings posted in the thread a go. I do find it understeers a lot but this just means you need to dropt he speed a little and then trun in earlier and add power throught he corner to make sure you hit the apex. Its a very rewarding car to drive, but really needs some work and I am sure it would be all the better for using a good wheel to drive it.

I was disappointed with the F40, not because it's a bad car, but because it wasn't quite what I'd been led to believe it should be like. I don't think I worded that properly at all but basically from the road tests I've read, they say its a scary car and if you push it too hard you'll end up dying in an expensive, rare, italian and firey way. Obviously you can't die in GT but I thought it would have more oversteer and less understeer, and be an absolute nightmare to control when it comes on boost, but that's not the experience i've had of it. I play with all aids turned off (except ABS set to 1 because I have to use the sixaxis) and in professional, but didn't find it especially chaotic to drive.

As for the turbo lag, its an 80's car, same for the brakes, no such thing as carbon ceramic back then (not in a road car, at least). And is that prototype really a prototype? I thought the early production cars were very different to the later ones, the early ones having the perspex cat flaps and the later having fully opening glass windows? Then of course the american model had the required bumper and whatever else.

Still, I expected more from a car with a power to weight ratio similar to an elise and that unmistakeable 1980's twin turbo punch in the face...

I want a 288 GTO Evoluzione in the final game, though. Now THAT is an F40 prototype!

The first 50-odd production cars had the sliding 'catflap' window, customer pressure forced Ferrari to switch to roll-ups after this.
It seems the F40 in the game is modelled on one of these 50 cars.

The 288 GTO is a beautiful car, the Evloution is made ugly (in my opinion of course) by the grills front and rear.👍
