As far as qualifying went, single car takes way too long. When I finished my second attempt at pole, I had less than a lap of fuel remaining. Doing that with a full grid would take forever. And Tex never took a single lap. If you are looking to create a pole session, maybe break up the timed session depending on track.

If laps are a minute to 1:30 10 minute session with 5 minute pole session. Over 1:30 gives two 10 minute sessions. At the German BEAST, you're only granted two laps. Ain't nobody got time for hour long qualifiers. LOL

I do kinda prefer whole group as that is the quickest method and will give everyone a chance to lay down laps.

There was a miscommunication...I talked to @TexasJDC last night and should be fixed before season opener

Instead of waiting on someone to finish their outlap for the next driver to start we are going to go in 7 sec. Intervals like snail does their qualifying the only difference is the top 6 get another outlap and hot lap for pole hopefully this will speed up the process I will be testing it tomorrow and see if there is any other changes that need to be made. My question to you guys is would you like the new format or stay with the old?

Sorry I missed last night. I fell asleep watching Supercross and woke up around 2am.

As far as qually, group qually has its perks. You can “draft” and get a better time. But, single car runs puts it all on the driver which should the the way to go in my opinion. 7second intervals. And everyone better be ready to get everyone a chance to run. HOWEVER, Tsukuba is a short track and with a full grid, 2 groups will be needed. Maybe do it by lap times. Group qually at tracks less than 1:30 and Then single car runs at over 1:30?

Edit: not sure where my mind went at the end but that’s what I meant

Yes for that track it would have to be split into 2 groups of 8. I'm gonna test it out tomorrow bc plan A didnt go quite so well hopefully plan B works out better for everyone

Thanks man I appreciate it she's fine I'm about to go on a quick ride real quick our weather just broke up here it's been raining for days and then I'll be on GT Sport to get ready for snail

I wasn't there for last nights race. But if you want to do basically F1 qualifying from the mid 2000s, I suggest waiting till someone gets halfway around to lap for the next person to go out or by sectors too. either that or we could do like modern day and do multiple qualifying sessions and then set the grid.

Thank you man we tried something close to that last night and it bombed bad lol I'm thankful all the drivers had the patience. Tomorrow I'm going to try a similar qualifying to last night but with a quicker release hopefully spacing drivers 7 to 10 seconds out will speed up qualifying. I would also like to test your suggestion tomorrow night aswell I think that would work

Qualifying was painfully slow the way we did it last night. Took over a half hour or more. I can’t remember. One of the objectives to the change was to speed things up on race night because the start time was not going to be moved.
Hopefully the 7 second interval speeds it up.

AMERICAN RACING LEAGUE (ARL)

Welcome to ARL! A majority of us have raced in online lobbies that have been a free-for-all, everyone bumping, cutting other drivers off, dive-bombing, etc. Here lately we have entered those kind of rooms and in our experience it really kills the fun of racing when that happens. We would like to suggest a race series that will keep with the clean traditions, structured while still being competitive & mixing up a few things we personally think might be fun that GT SPORT has added. This series is open to anyone and everyone as long as the connection doesn’t cause a problem, there won’t be any livery restrictions, and so everyone doesn’t end up racing the same car we are limiting the car selection to only 4 of the same car (list of cars below) under the first come first serve method. We have noticed most series run month to month one thing that does is really handicap you if you miss a week because let’s be honest life happens and should always come first. With that being said this series will run in 3 month increments so if something does come up and you miss a week or two it won’t kill your season like it would running month to month. This series will be taking place on Saturday nights, room opens at 9:45 central or earlier with the room number posted in the ARL thread. Qualifying starting at 10:00 central. I will be live streaming these races on YouTube JD Clark (listed below) and welcome anyone else that would like to stream it as well. Please read the provisions below and we hope to see you there for some good Saturday night racing. If you have any questions feel free to message me on GTPLANET @TexasJDC
*rules are subject to change for this league as we see fit.

1.2 TEAMS
This is something new we are introducing for season 2, the TEAM Championship. Drivers who select to run as teams will compete for team title as well as the driver title. This is something new and foreign to most of us but should add more competitive driving and maybe a little friendly rivalry. The way teams will be scored is taking both drivers totals from the race adding them up to get their team total plus 5 additional points for highest finishing team. Teams will consist of 2 drivers per team, the drivers will need to use the same manufacturer to be eligible to make a team. We prefer drivers use close to the same colors for liveries but not a must. Also drivers can run as independent drivers and be excluded from the team championship, being on a team is not a must by any means but should be a fun little twist to our current race season. There are no substitutions once a team is finalized unless the BoD votes and determines a change is necessary. Last and probably most important when making a team it is important that the team make as many races as possible so they don’t short change their teammate and lose points.
HOW TO START A TEAM
A. You and another driver must state that both agree to run as a team in the main thread
B. Come up with a team name
C. What manufacturer your team is using

View attachment 792569
1 additional point for pole
1 additional point for fastest lap
1 additional point for winner of the month
5 additional points for the TEAM championship for highest finishing team
DROP RACE RULE: we will be implementing 2 drop race scores for the season. This will consist of your 2 lowest scores being dropped at the end of the season. In making this change we hope to close some of the points gaps and create a tighter battle in the standings. The only scores not eligible for the drop scores are DNF 0 races, if a driver DNF for a internet, equipment issue or life situation they receive last place points if it is stated in the thread they DNF for reasons out of their control those will still be eligible for drop scores.

2.4 WILDCARD
This is something we hope will set us apart from any other race series. This idea was brought up by a current driver and we have to admit, we really like it. The wildcard will be selected by the lowest driver in point’s standings, designated as FULL-TIME. The driver will pick a 1-make race that will keep with the ARL rules (Bop, Fuel consumption, Tire wear, Damage, etc.) the choices for the wildcard race are as followed. The lowest driver can only have 1 wildcard selection per season if the same driver is up for the wildcard 2 times in the same season the choice will default to the next lowest driver meeting the guidelines mentioned above.

ARL WILDCARD RACE Rules and Regulations:

The following guidelines will be implemented ASAP to bring some structure and regulation concerning the ARL Wildcard Races. As you all know, these three (3) events hold significant importance and value during the ARL season, as double championship points are on the line.
  1. Wildcard Races are an exclusive event in the ARL. To reward our FULL-TIME drivers, they will be given priority when setting up the initial grid of drivers. In other words, if your status is FULL TIME by the Wildcard Race weekend, you will be guaranteed a spot on the grid.
  2. The balance of the grid will then be set by our PART TIME drivers.
  3. In the event we have more than 16 FULL TIME drivers prior to any Wildcard Race weekend, two (2) lobbies will be established to accommodate AND REWARD ALL DRIVERS.
  4. Lobby placement will be randomized amongst the FULL-TIME drivers, followed by the PART TIME drivers.
  5. You MUST announce your intent to race the Wildcard no later than the THURSDAY of the event. This will allow adequate time for grid and lobby determinations. If you do not state by Thursday, then you will not be considered for the event.
  6. Your intent to race announcement should be made on the GTPlanet forum or the PSN group chat.
  7. PART TIME driver eligibility will be based on current point standings, allowing the driver with the most point’s priority on the grid, followed by the next highest, etc.
  8. Starting position on the grid will be set by reverse championship point standings, with the lowest FULL-TIME driver on the pole. Subsequent positions (2-16) will also be based on point standings and driver status (FT/PT).
  9. All FULL-TIME drivers will be placed on the grid ahead of PART-TIME drivers, regardless of point standings.
A. Driver must select a car class from GR.X GR.1, GR.2, GR.3 or GR.4 for the group to run
B. Car must be equal to or less than 1,000,000 credits
C. Track selection is the same as stated in ARL (everything is open except Nurburgring 24H, Nurburgring Nordschleife, & dirt tracks)
D. Wildcard must be picked no later than 10:30 P.M. (central time) on the Tuesday of wildcard race weekend. If a combo has not been picked by that time the choice will then move to the next driver on the list
E. Try to be as specific as you can when making your choice. (Example: full name of car, full name of track, time of day, conditions).
H. Reverse grid (last in total points is on pole - leader in total points last in grid)
I. Double Points night for every driver who completes the race (along with the DNF Rule)
J. No qualifying just a extended practice till race starts
K. All drivers need to be in room no later than 10:25 central for grid sorting purposes.
L. If there is a instance we need more than 1 room we will divide the using excel to randomly select drivers to rooms (only way I see it being fair to everyone)

3.1 PENALTY SYSTEM
The penalty system for this league will be based on points deducted. For any driver who commits a penalty depending on the severity of the penalty will have points deducted off of their season points. If the penalty is so severe that may mean suspended for the season/suspended indefinitely.
  1. 3 POINTS - causing minor damage to another drivers car, unsafe re-entry, cutting corners to gain an advantage
  2. 6 POINTS - dive bomb, making a pass using out of bounds, not adhering to flag rules, blocking/weaving
  3. 9 POINTS - causing major damage to another drivers car, not conceding spot if you have ran another driver off track/ bumped them going into a corner
  4. 12 POINTS - intentionally hitting another driver, retaliation, dive bomb with no intention of using the brakes
  5. 15 POINTS - intentionally trying to wreck other drivers, driving wrong way on the track, pretty much being a jacka$$ I don’t see many of us having a problem with this major point deduction because overall this is a clean group of drivers but you never know when you might have to use this penalty
We will also now include grid and race penalties depending on how severe your racing is, using a points on license system. This will act as a way to police drivers who are not driving as clean and respectful as they should be and offers a stiffer penalty than just points. We are hoping that this kind of penalty will enforce clean racing due to the harsh consequences that follow.
Tier 1 – 8 Penalty points last on grid for the following race including wildcard races
Tier 2 – 11 Penalty points last on grid for 4 of the following races including wildcard races
Tier 3 – 14 Penalty points last on the grid for the remainder of the season, 1 race suspension last on grid for remainder of the season. Depending on when the tier 3 infraction occurs may possibly carry over to the next season
Tier 4 – 15 Penalty points if you reach this level your future with ARL is in jeopardy not only will the BoD put you under review but carries a possible ban from the league. I really hope no one gets to this point and we can all continue to grow as drivers.
Penalty points will reset at the start of each season. With that being said directors will take into consideration past season’s penalties when making any further rulings for future infractions so please drive clean and respectful.

3.2 INCIDENT REPORT (IR)
This is just a reminder on how to file an IR and what happens after a IR is filed. First I want to thank everyone for showing for the most part some good clean racing but every now and then there are times were an IR needs to be filed. I also save every replay after the race. Once an IR is filed the BoD will get together in a group chat and go over the IR or any issue brought to our attention. Once a ruling has been determined I will personally message the results to both parties involved. When filing a IR private message me on either GT Planet or PSN messenger following the IR rules and guidelines provided. Failure to do so on these formats will result in IR being dismissed for failure to comply with IR rules. If there is a complaint, a driver has until Monday night 8 Central time to message me the following week after the race about a penalty.

3.4 HOW TO FILE A INCIDENT REPORT
  • Private message me at @TexasJDC or if you do not have a GTP account message me on PSN TexasmostHated
  • Subject should be titled IR Race#
Message should include the following for review:
  • Driver reporting IR
  • Driver or drivers having IR filed against them
  • Who was affected
  • A time stamp of when the IR occurred
  • Where the IR occurred (what turn
  • Description of what happened that caused the filing of the IR
  • If you have pictures of the incident please include them with IR submission

4.1 FULL/PART-TIME STATUS
At the start of the season all drivers will be set to full-time status. In order to keep full-time status a driver must complete 65% of the races since there first race of the season. Special exceptions can be made if the directors determine so. Something like driver losing connection or most of us have young ones and sometimes life happens and like previously stated should always come first, I don’t think it’s right to remove a fulltime driver’s status giving those reasons.

4.2 RACE NIGHT PROCEDURES
We as a group have got to implement confirmation before the race into a routine to avoid mass confusion going into the race. Nog3861/@Nick Cannella has asked weekly for drivers to verify their status on racing that Saturday and has for multiple weeks been forced to sacrifice his qualifying session and practice due to last minute entries. I know it seems like a small detail but we need to take into account that he also has to update the scoresheet, split lobbies for every non-confirmed entry and still start on time. Starting on time is very important for the east coast guys on a normal night starting at 10:30 central means they are starting at 11:30 EST finishing around 12:30 EST on a perfect night. So with that being said we are going to ask from now on any driver wanting to race Saturday night to please confirm their intentions to race or not race by 5:00 central time. When confirming you are planning on racing we ask that you tag @Nick Cannella and @TexasJDC into the confirmation to avoid any oversights. If a driver does not confirm their intentions prior to the 5:00 central cut-off they will be asked to leave and honestly I hope I don’t have to ask anyone to leave I really don’t want that but we must follow the guidelines. PSN conformation is only valid if a driver does not have GT Planet and cannot get GT Planet (M1SS-D3V10US & Grim_has_wifi are the only exceptions at this point). If for any reason a driver does not have a GT Planet account please get in contact with me and I will do whatever it takes to get you signed up (PSN TexasmostHated) or pass the word along to nog3861 so he is informed as well if you can’t create one.

*exceptions can be made to this rule if we have prior knowledge and the BoD agrees to waive this but I would not expect it to be on very many occasions as this would be considered a “special circumstance”

4.3 FORFEIT OF RIGHTS
If for any reason a driver decides not to confirm their race intentions for 3 weeks in a row and don’t show up to race they will now forfeit their rights to points earned and car selected. The reason we are putting this into place is we have seen a few drivers race 1 week and never show back up and we feel it’s unfair to the weekly drivers to hold a car and not race. Hopefully with this rule it will encourage more drivers to confirm their status and race more often.
*exceptions can be made to this rule if we have prior knowledge and the BoD agrees to waive this but I would not expect it to be on very many occasions as this would be considered a “special circumstance”

4.4 CHANGE OF CAR POLICY
We have noticed that a few drivers have changed cars while the season is in session, we do not like to allow changes but can understand that on certain occasions the BoD may rule that a driver can change the car but it does carry a stiff penalty.
A. Car does not already have 3 drivers assigned to the car the driver wants to change to.
B. All points up to the change will be forfeited and driver will start back at 0 points
C. After switch driver will be placed last on the grid for the following 4 races.
D. Drivers may not change in the cars in the last month of the season.

4.5 DISCONNECTS/STUCK ON GRID
With the recent update on GT Sport there have been many instances a driver getting stuck on the grid (including myself). Hopefully this will not be a problem going forward but until GT Sport fixes this problem we will need to adapt a rule for being stuck or disconnecting. The rule we are putting in place for the time being is that if a driver gets stuck on the grid we will restart if problem persist we will ask the driver to clear cache and restart PS4 then rejoin the lobby, if the same driver is still having issues we will ask that driver to leave for the night and issue last place points to the driver/drivers for that race. It really sucks being stuck on the grid and I want everyone to race each week but at the same time we can’t restart more than twice for the same driver it’s not fair to the others and I’ve noticed that’s when we go from starting at 10:30 and having issues to starting at 11 or later it really hampers the east coast guys.
