How would you rate Gran Turismo 5

  • Total voters
    889
Yes but number of voters for 40 or less - 18. Number of votes for 90 or 100 - 292. That's a lot more blind fanboys of the game than trolls against it.

I gave it 90. Been playing since launch and haven't took it out of my ps3. I play with both G27 and DS3 (sometimes for some races) and love it. Updates and patches seem to enhance the game (as some degrades, win/lose). I'll be playing until GT6 comes out. I don't really look as some of the minor flaws that are in the game, its a game! Nothings perfect!

I'm into drifting and been doing it for at least 4 days a week for at least 6 hours per day. Both wheel and DS3 used. Learning different driving styles really add to the game rather than just sticking to one.

PS: I'm not a Porsche fan and could care less about getting them. Would like a livery editor but not that fussy due to it increasing loading times. Could add some more tracks and events, but to me the lack of events add replay (as if there were too many, I wouldn't go back to half of them). Lastly, DIFFERENT cars! Not just variations of the same car. We need more US and EU cars.

While I am surprised by the score of "90" collecting most votes, when you take into account that this is a poll taken on a Gran Turismo forum website, I think the favorable votes are to be expected.

I've mentioned this before, but for me, there are some glaring flaws with Gran Turismo 5. While I would say that it is a great game, I got the impression that it tried to do too much, and fell short in execution, especially with the Premium/Standard car issue.

I had copied & pasted the previous poll result, so we can compare results before & after I bumped the thread, but my computer apparently suffered a power surge, and lost the info as I failed to save it. Sorry. :ouch:

I really like the free roam idea mentioned earlier. It would be a nice breather away from the repetitive laps & laps & laps on the racetrack, at least for some of us. ;)

Maybe if GT5 were released with all the content and updates that we have now, then it could be a "B" game. But, I'd consider GT5, as a whole, to be a "C" game. Playable. Can be enjoyed, but also disappointing.

Or people that actually like the game. Like me.

I liked the game but it's certainly not a perfect game (100) or near perfect (90). The previous games I would rate that highly, but not GT5. I don't see how you could when you bear in mind the previous games, personally.

Changing my score from 80 to 50.

Great physics and the premium cars are beautiful. But the gameplay structure and single player is severely lacking and that's very important to me in a GT game. I can't have fun with it if these things are poor.

Indeed. I would like to hear a Person who voted 10 and why?
Would be interesting

The current average is 79.5%. Four stars.

EDIT: And is already obsolete... 79.6%

Thanks for your work :)

That's pretty unreasonable. just saying

The inconsistency of the entire game is a good part that should be considered when grading a game. One car isn't.

Well I know the game isn't perfect so I didn't wanna go into every details that they messed up so I gave them a break and only named 1 flaw so it can be an B game. Plus the X1 is overrated we can never put the room setting to unrestricted without some jerk bringing an X1 or lowering the X1 to 700pp so they can enter

GT5 is and always were a 60.
If anything, all the updates have moved it closer to 40 because of all the online issues and general bugs, not to mention all the shocking decisions along the way.
50 shouldn't be an option in my opinion.

I would give it 80, - It could have had a bit more realism, (ex. indicators that you could use, - like the lights). But overall it's 80 as said.

70

Great physics and it has had a very long lasting appeal. Online racing is what keeps you attracted to the game, but it could've been better.

It lacks a feel of it being a new game (the cars are old, few tracks)
It lacks a better singleplayer mode. I know it's a racing game, but still. This is neither a career or GT Life.
It lacks online support. If you want decent racing, you have to seek out other players on forums, otherwise you're lost in a jungle of non-restricted racing where whoever has the best setup or the best car, wins.

I agree that sucks for real that why I never enter random lobby only if they are 1 or more smiley face icon in that room

That's fine but do you really only see a slight room for improvement to reach perfection, which is what a 90 rating suggests?

Sure it doesn't have all the things I want, but what game does?

90.

I love this game, but im being put off by the lack of A-SPEC events. And since i cant be online every single time i play GT5, i have a problem.

"80 - Very happy with the game. It could have been better, but not by much."

It's a brilliant brilliant game, but it could still be better. No game is perfect imo.

Doesn't take much to please me personally, I am quite pleased with GT5.

Just wished more of my favorite cars were Premium.

I gave a generous 80, though I could've justified a 70 just as easily. The offline/online physics issue, the inconsistent settings screen (some cars seem to benefit from "backwards" tuning, others, not so much), the simple tire physics... it's an incredibly ambitious game, but by that same token, there's a lot more that can go wrong.

The over-reliance on last-generation assets is a big one for me, and the lack of more community-building features is too now that I'm used to things like a Storefront, Auction House, and livery editor. That all said, PD has been very good with supporting the game-post release (arguably because, to a large extent, it needed it), their new content is of the utmost quality, and when they do things well, like the Nurb 24H with time and weather change, well, they do it better than anybody else. But the flaws and shortcomings are more noticeable in this iteration than previous games, and I think the score should reflect that. Yes, it's done far more than the installments before it, but that alone should not guarantee a higher score - times change, and in some departments, GT isn't changing fast enough to keep pace with them.

Still a very good game, of course, but the undisputed champ it is not.

I'd rate this around sixty.

The racing and car/track selection is unsurpassed. The driving is excellent once all the mario-kart options like spin recovery and TCS are switched off for each car.

It probably has the worst graphics ever, it crashes and glitches too much, the online/offline physics differences are unwelcome and there are far too many inconveniences such as the crappy menu interface and having to play around with settings in order to drive without ABS.
The fact that the game clock was getting lap times wrong for a year makes a rating of sixty seem over generous now that i think of it.
It's also full of useless fat such as b-spec, museum tickets, driver gear, trophies etc. all stuff that adds nothing to a racing game for me.

In summary:

Great racing game, terribly made.

80 because i still love it and it brings me joy each day of the year when i'm bored.

20 points lost because of the missed opportunities by PD to make the game perfect; if they would have focussed on the right things...
