Kimi is the most unlucky guy going. I have stopped watching the race now its annoying that the best driver doesnt win.
It's not lack of luck. McLaren is 1.5 seconds faster because they reduce the structural integrity of the car. They went the "Fast" route, while Renault chose the "Reliable," but slower, route. Flavio said he could make the Renaults 1.5 seconds per lap quicker too, but he would rather have dependability. You can be 10 seconds than the rest of the field, but it doesn't mean anything if you're not reliable.

Great race. Very exciting ending. Alonso will clinch the championship next week, so that will be well deserved. What is still going to the very end is the Constructor's championship. Renault will win it, if Fisi continues to place second or third behind Alonso.

a 19,000rpm v10 is a lot louder then an earplug can drown out. listening to the engine doesnt distract you from the race. thats a huge part of the race. how can you drive if your not listening to the engine?

i thought the race could have been better other then the end. the end was good. the rest of the race wasnt as good as turkey was though.

Put kimi and alonso in the same car and kimi will be faster.

what proof do you have for your immature point? i see none. at least not enough to show a big difference givin alonso had time to learn the car or the other way around.

If Kimi is all that then why couldn't he get ahead of JV who is in a Sauber earlier??
Why? Because he was carrying almost twice the fuel that JV was carrying, and JV was the 4th fastest car at the end of the straight (only 5km/h slower than Kimi).

Yes but with race fuel Kimi was 2 seconds faster than JV in Quali..

I think Alonso has deserved it in my view, hes the complete package, fast, smart, amazingly defensive (which Kimi has not yet proved in my view) and I think the fans like his personality more.

Kimi is great but he will have to wait till next year now..

Kimi would have been faster in the corners, you can't overtake there. And with the current aerodynamic rules, you lose too much downforce being behind another car.

Well if he is faster through the corners thn he would have a better drive out of them, and since the track is 73% full throttle u would have thought a McMerc would take a Sauber for dinner..

He overtook alonso didnt he. He still managed to finish 4th and if the tyre didnt malfunction we might have seen a McMerc 1-2. Look the fact is in formula one there is hardly any overtaking even when one car is dramatically faster than the other. Week after week kimi has been the fastest and more than often has he qualified first but positioned 11 with a heavy fuel load.

But you can't get that close becasue of the aerodynamics. Drive behind another car and you lose your downforce which means you can't stay as close as you need to. And then we're back to the Sauber having a Ferrari engine and is therfore no slouch in a straight line.

a lot of it with kimi this year is the car though. the car is blindingly quick. renault has said it would be easy for them to match if not beat the pace of mclaren but they wont do away with the reliability which in the end is what wins championships.

So its like a 2 year cycle is it? do crap one year so that they get the friday test back, then have a good season. I still believe that BAR only did well last year because all of the other teams "dropped the ball" so to say. Mclaren, Renault and Williams all had ordinary seasons last year and now that they are back in form (well renault and mclaren are) BAR goes back to the midfield runners again. They lack race pace and Button always seems to go for glory in quali by running light, then falls back during the race, ive always thought Button is a little over rated, i mean how many races has he won?

Interestingly the crowd was down 15% this year because of the performance of ferrari, i dont know about you guys but i like the way how ferrari are now one of the also rans.

edit: interestingly i just read my sig, which i wrote at the start of this year....

bar was fast last year though. they would have been fast even if everyone else was fast. this year the car isnt as good and they arent gettting the data from the extra test driver which i think is part of why they did better last year.

i will agree with you on jensen being over rated though. hes good but not that good. if we end up having rubens driving for honda next year it will get even better. i think he will bring lots of experince to the team which is what they need.

But did BAR understand why they were fast? No. Did they improve the car much over the year? No. They lucked into their speed, when they were developing the BAR007 they still didn't understand the 006, they were neer going to have a winning car this year, they were going on guesswork.

and if Button stays at BAR, i think rubens will show him what it is like to have a competitive team mate and Button will have a fair run for his money

Not a bad race. It seems IMO that Raikonnen is being hyped more than Alonso simply because he has more to do.

No fault of his own, I think, but Alonso has driven a few good simple steady races that haven't pushed him too hard while Raikonnen is either bombing ahead and occasionly messing up or having to start mid grid and having to fight his way through.

PSiCivic, I'd do something about your sig length before you get warned.

i will probably change it again in a few hours anyway. maybe even before half the people in this thread see what it says now.

it has been shortend though.

i cant wait till next race. you will all see! the bars pace will be... uhhh... well the engine will be running this time... at least i hope...

man i like sato but even i am starting to get sick of this.

Well way i see it is BAR are a team for the future, right now they are still the 2nd youngest team on the grid (after RBR) and i think within the next 3 years we will see a BAR driver on the top step, Rubens, Button (if he stays) or watever driver they pick, they all will have a chance.

And for Button underrated well just wait and see after he gets his first win... if he does do of course.

Edit: Satos time is up im afraid PSI, hes a good driver and everything, just not a front running driver, (monza certainly didn't help).

his time with bar is up yes. i really hope he at least goes to another team. i think he could be really good in a few years. hes just so inconsistent it hurts the team more then they can take.

i predict button wont get his first win at bar. a pretty safe bet really...

if rubens does race for bar next season i think he will be the one to get them their first win. i heard a rumour though that bar might only want him to give to williams in order to keep button though...

Not when it was Button that told Nick Fry to go for Rubens, he chose Rubens because he is great pals with him and he feels he could push Button further and be important for the future of BAR.

Of course Button is not gonna be at BAR so who they gonna get to replace Sato?!

Off to the 'drivers for 2006' thread!!
